  1. For whatever reason Cult of Personality never did it for me in a big way. But it was good enough to make me want to here more from them. Including the following with the great line "She looks as lovely as she's every gonna get!". Ouch.
  2. No, you're absolutely right about that. I remember a long passage about the inner workings of a dirty A-bomb from Sum Of All Fears that was a difficult slog. I'd read a Clancy book and then need time off to read less taxing books The technical aspects of Clancy were too much for me at times, but the storylines and characters made it worth the effort for me.
  3. When I saw the names Baldacci and Patterson it reminded me of another favorite: Nelson DeMille. He was a read-it-when-it-comes-out-when-is-the-next-one guy for a few years. Great stories, easy reads.
  4. I haven't read a book in years. As a kid I read incessantly. And then I fell out of it for a really long time until I had an extended time working out of state with too much alone time and I read The Firm by John Grisham which was popular at the time. Great book (movie sucked), it re-ignited my interest in reading for a long time. Grisham was hit and miss for me after The Firm, but easy reads. Tom Clancy was my favorite author. Reading one of his books is definitely an investment in time, but well worth it IMO. If you had to pick one to start with, maybe Without Remorse. Central character was one of his best.
  5. Agreed. Gettleman has said on multiple occasions that he' didn't sign OBJ just to turn around and trade him. He also committed to Eli publicly recently. Last year he tried to rebuild the OL (with so-so results) and today he traded for an OL.
  6. Driving home from a ski weekend, a friend of a friend witnessed the drivers shirt catch fire from a stray ember. Shotgun had to put it out. It all worked out and I'm told it was pretty funny.
  7. Newsday's David Lennon was about 2 hours late, eh? Tom Seaver, the greatest Met of all time, deserves a statue at Citi Field https://www.newsday.com/sports/columnists/david-lennon/tom-seaver-dementia-1.28217121
  8. He's the only Met that ranks among MLB's all time greats. Had a number of 20 win seasons for .500 teams. All the best to Tom Terrific and his loved ones. .
  9. The greatest Met of all time. And whoever is second isn't even close. I had the good fortune of seeing him a couple of times at Shea and countless times on WOR with Ralph, Lindsey and Murph. The report I heard is he is retiring from public life. From a strictly selfish standpoint I'd love to give him one last standing O.
  10. Just saw this before checking in here a few minutes ago: https://nypost.com/2019/03/05/kyler-murray-backlash-arrives-worst-reports-execs-ever-heard/
  11. Nationals ace Scherzer shuns DH, decides to bat "He's real big into the whole game, not just the pitching portion," Martinez said. "He loves to hit, he loves to run the bases, he loves to play the game." http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/26145158/nationals-ace-scherzer-shuns-dh-decides-bat Play ball!
  12. Yeah, I think you're right. Comedy Central was ready to pay him but it didn't work out.
  13. LOL. I was joking about you not acknowledging the ladies on the board. It's amazing how a well intentioned thread can take a bad turn.
  14. I assume most posters on this board are a he. Perhaps that's a bad assumption on my part. Did you notice that I questioned my own assumption "(he is a he, right?)". Perhaps you missed that.
  15. Forget all that, if I'm you I am seriously questioning why Buffalo716 didn't thank the gals too! He (he is a he, right?) should have to answer to that.
  16. Making the playoffs was enjoyable. Subsequently moving on from the playoff QB with the realization that the position needed a big improvement in spite of the playoff appearance was enjoyable. As a result, this past season was a necessary evil. That evil was made worse by the Peterman debacle. What that debacle says about the coach and GM is a legit concern IMO. But I'll reserve judgement until next year. Once they drafted Allen, it was never about Peterman. As a side note, in another post you reference Hue Jackson's 8-8 Raiders with the immortal Darren McFadden, Darius Heyward-Bey, Jacoby Ford and Fabian Washington as a fun team to watch. Is that your standard for enjoyable? Would you be happy if we canned McDermott and hired Hue?
  17. That's gold Johnny, GOLD!! I'm an out of towner too. My kids gravitated to the Bills because of me, if they'd gone another direction I would have let it happen. We just had John Tavares make his return to Long Island the other night and there was a lot of vitriol thrown his way. Some of it was humorous but overall it was a classless display by the local fans. The guy played 9 years for us, was a great player and an upstanding citizen who had the opportunity to play the second half of his career for the team he grew up with. Sucks that he left, but he's the type of player any sports fan should appreciate. That was the message to my boys.
  18. Short answer is because I never set foot in Buffalo until about 28 years after I decided the Bills were my FIRST team.
  19. The San Pedro Beach Bums Football, you bet!
