It took blatant missed calls in big games to get us instant replay in the first place. I think this play will be the tipping point and they'll introduce some sort of limited review of penalties next year, especially with Payton on the competition committee. Instant replay is great when it overturns the indisputable blown calls. Unfortunately it's devolved to the point where we're relying too much on the technology with super slo-mo and zoom to try to get borderline calls "right" when half the time nobody agrees on the correct call anyway. Oh well, there's no turning back on that aspect.

I didn't catch (or forgot) your comments from last year . A former player is an official? What capacity? Shocking sounds like an understatement. I wouldn't expect former players to be eligible to officiate at all.

Current rules are sudden death if first score is a TD or first score is a safety or first offensive drive isn't a score. Prior to that it was first score wins. Everyone got their panties in a bunch over the one-drive-long-FG wins and got nutty about the coin flip winning the game. I think you may be right about a true 15 minute OT at one point, but that would have pre-dated the two above.

We don't outsource any of those three. For the most part, I like clearing snow. Depending on the accumulation I'll either shovel or use the snow blower. And if it's snow blower worthy I'll take care of neighbors who need help. Had an elderly couple I took care of for years. Cleaning the house is probably an 80/20 proposition between wifey and me. She'd probably call it 90/10 or worse but the sad fact is that whatever the number is it trends in the wrong direction with each passing year. I may be the only jackass on my block that doesn't have a lawn service AND doesn't have a ride-on mower. Fortunately I have sons and that transition has begun.

Unless I'm mistaken, on the overtime drive the Chiefs D failed to stop the Pats at least 3 times on 3rd and around 10. I prefer the straight-up sudden death OT rules of the past.

I'll watch the Super Bowl this year the same way I watched the Super Bowl last year and Pats/Chiefs today. Rooting fiercely for a team I could care less about but expecting the worse. I hope it's more like last year than today....and I win some money.

No doubt. I won't be able to see Saints/Rams tomorrow. I can't remember the last time I didn't watch a conference championship game. It might have been Bills/Bengals 1988 when I was on the road due to a death in the family and listened on the radio.
