  1. So Alonso has what may be a serious knee injury and already people are saying no big loss, he sucks, he's seriously overrated. WHAT? Starting OLB. Had 159 tackles, 87 solo- playing inside. Far and away the most on the team. Moving him outside was supposed to make him even better. Who do we have to replace him? Can't even make it to camp this year without disaster striking this team.
  2. If you are a serious bidder, you have to sign a non-disclosure agreement. That means you can't talk about it at all. Talk about it and they won't send the full books and you are basically out of the running. That's why the vague statement and no mention of any bid or their plans.
  3. I think TV is better now. In fact, two TV's. One with the Bills game, one with Red Zone. There goes the commercial argument. Why can't you tailgate in your backyard? Just call it a BBQ. When the weather is nice, I do it all the time. Have about 10-12 people over. Mostly the same ones that I went to the games with. Food on a grill is food on a grill. Beer is cheaper. Bathroom lines are shorter. Parking is free. Don't have drunks that I don't know to deal with. It's cheaper, easier and more fun. Never miss the start of the 4pm games either. When it gets cold and they are out of playoff contention, it's all the better to just watch it on TV. If they were a playoff team it might be different. Nothing like the atmosphere at a playoff game. Of course it's been 18 years since they had a home playoff game.
  4. Pettine is a glorified high school coach. He's been along for the ride since day one. He's in way over his head. Browns have been a dumpster fire for years and will continue to be a dumpster fire. Nobody likes a snitch either. Between him shooting his mouth off and Johnny FB and his antics, I hope the Browns go 0-16. They will both be out of football in 2 years.
  5. That guy was an "expert"? Please. Only 4 NFL stadiums are also owned by the team. Carolina, Miami, New England and NY/NY. Carolina and Miami might leave. Carolina had 15 years left but now only has 6 years left on its lease with the City of Charlotte because they received public funds for upgrades. Miami was denied public funds for upgrades and pulled the "we may leave South Florida" card. Kraft built Gillette Stadium for $350 mil after almost moving to Connecticut. Jets and Giants paid for the stadium but technically do not own the stadium. They have leases which they can opt out of after 15 years. New Vikings and Falcons stadiums will not be owned by the team. Matter of fact AEG will have a hand in running the Vikings new stadium. Most stadiums are owned by the city or county that they are in or a Stadium Authority is formed and the authority owns the stadium. Most have leases that run for another 15-20 years. The city/county/authority leases the stadium to the team and the team is in charge of operations. I still don't know what that hell that guy was talking about. Let's say a new stadium is built downtown. City of Buffalo owns the land, Delaware North builds the stadium and in return gets the concessions contract and other non-football events, The Bills would play there and be in charge of football operations. I would assume that Pegula, Jacobs and the NFL would be smart enough to have the proper deal in place. LA situation was way different. They don't have a team. AEG wanted all kinds of stuff, two totally different things
  6. First, LA didn't and does not even have a team. Second, NFL didn't like Tim Leiweke, Third, AEG wanted to build the stadium and buy a minority stake in the team at a discounted price. NFL did not like AEG's financing plan for the stadium, From that Yahoo article: "Longstanding issues concern AEG's stake in an NFL team, how much the developer is willing to pay for that stake, and who would control issues such as marketing and licensing at the football stadium" They seem to think a deal could still get done someday. As far as Jacobs, Buffalo already has a team. Jacobs want's zero ownership of the team. Who knows what the marketing & licensing deal at a new stadium will be. Have to think it would be to the NFL's liking. My question is who is paying for the stadium? Is it going to be 100% a Jacobs/Delaware North funded stadium? Only one NFL stadium built since 1997 has been 100% privately financed- Met Life Stadium. Why would the NFL even give a flying crap who builds and pays for the stadium?
  7. Depends who pays for or finances the stadium so the city or county usually owns the stadium. Arlington owns AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Erie County owns Ralph Wilson Stadium. City of Green Bay owns Lambeau Field. I really don't know of any privately built stadiums off the top of my head. Not sure how that would work. If Jacobs pays for the new stadium does he own it and then leases it to the Bills? Who own the Chiefs? Owwwwnnns, Owwwwwwns, Should find out soon.
  8. I started going to games when I was 5 years old in 1977. There was no problem because the stadium was 1/3 full. I was there all through the 1980's and never a problem. Not once did my Dad say my brother and I couldn't go because of fan behavior. I started going on my own with a group of friends in 1990. We had 10 season tickets. Bills were winning big time. Never once did we get in a fight, very rarely even saw a fight as far as I can remember. We tailgated big time, brought beer and full bottles of booze into the stadium, they even gave out cigarette packs once or twice before games as you went in. Never ever once was there a problem. Started to change in the late 90's. I don't know if I just got older and the people causing problems were younger or what happened. Got to a point by the mid 2000's that going to a game was just too much of a hassle and not very fun combined with the constant losing, the major increase in security, not sure exactly but something went bad at some point.
  9. Nope. They could put it in Ft. Erie or Niagara Falls, ON and still no. No Canada!
  10. So instead of signing a DE and a DT in 93, he bought a couple of ugly paintings. Monet was more important than Lombardi.
  11. We only care about him as a football player. He is no good to us suspended, incarcerated or dead. He can't help us win in any of those 3 scenarios. What can we do? Not a darn thing except hope the felony drug charges get reduced and hope the misdemeanors & violations are paid off and then hope he doesn't get suspended and then hope he doesn't do anything else stupid or illegal until his contract is up and then leave it to the team to decide whether to keep him or release him. I did a litany of crazy, dumb, stupid and illegal things in my early 20's. Nobody cared except eventually the police. I also didn't play in the NFL or for the Bills. I eventually straightened out maybe he will too before he ends up in jail or dead because that's exactly where he is headed.
  12. Absolutely correct. Poloncarz was on WGR and floated the idea that fans will have to help pay for a new stadium. $5,000 PSL was floated as something fans could afford. So add that up. 2 PSL's- $10,000 per year. 2 season tickets- $150 per ticket for 10 games. $3,000. Parking- $50 per game for 10 games. $500. Who is paying $13,500 for 10 football games? $25 for a 10 oz beer. That prices 90% of the fans right out of the ballgame. It certainly prices out the vast majority of under 25 year olds that go just for the tailgate to get wrecked. That's stupid money for this area. If they somehow do manage to sell 25-40K PSL's, it's going to be mostly the rich hockey crowd anyway. Going to be a 100% different atmosphere and people aren't going to like it at all.
  13. Paul Snyder sold off the good Braves players and finally what was left of the franchise to build Darien Lake.
  14. 44,000+ seasons is nice. Still 10,000 less than 2009. NFL says minimum 65,000 seats. How many season tickets will they sell in a new stadium with a $5,000 PSL, $150 tickets and $50 parking? Anyone going to pay $13K for 10 games? Get them now while they are still reasonable.
  15. 2 billion for the Clippers is just pure insanity. Forbes lists the Knicks at #1 in the NBA and valued at 1.4 biliion. The Lakers #2 at 1.35 billion. The Clippers were valued at 575 million. Why would someone pay almost 4x the value and half a billion more than the top valued team? Forbes has the Bills at #30 in the NFL at 870 mil. Imagine if someone pays 4x the value for the Bills? 3.5 billion?
  16. Clinton & Aurora in Lancaster. Lots of undeveloped farm land and just so I could walk to the games.
  17. Black? Weird. Any engineers on here? How long would it take to just remove the entire seating area, concourses, restrooms, plumbing and that ridiculous administration building and build a new stadium on the current site? Basically just rebuild what they had but with open, wider concourses, new restrooms and concessions, luxury boxes, locker rooms. Footprint is already there. Scoreboards are new, put those back up. Field is new. Just work from the new renovations in.
  18. Golisano never spent to the cap. The NHL had a salary cap and the Sabres had their own lower salary cap under Golisano. He told Regier do whatever you want to improve the team just don't lose any money.
  19. Screw a dome. Retractable roof adds 300-500 million to the cost....then you leave it open in December? Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Green Bay, Chicago- NO dome. Never hear anyone B word about the cold there and how they should have put a roof on their new stadiums. Would kill any home field we might have if they are ever good again.
  20. Never get a SB unless they build a 20,000 room hotel next to the new stadium. Buffalo is way, way, way short on hotel rooms.
  21. Buffalo to Batavia is 40 minutes on the Thruway BUT there is one small entrance/exit in/out of town. That would be a horrific scene on game day. So then you are talking adding thruway exits. There is also a toll. Adds a couple bucks and time to the drive. It's just a bad idea.
  22. Somebody went and looked at the past 15 years of mock drafts and ranked how the "experts" did. Kiper was ranked 20 out of 28th. He sucks. He is wrong more often than not and his opinion is just that, his opinion. It really means nothing. The game has really passed him by. He managed to make millions of dollars with mock drafts and draft guides by just getting name out there on ESPN when the draft started to take off. I've never read one of his draft guides. Have to pay for it on ESPN Insider now anyway. Besides, it's really worthless to grade drafts before anyone drafted actually plays in the NFL. My Bills draft grade? B.That's no more or less meaningful than what Kiper or anyone else thinks.
  23. Jimmy Gaines: Getzville, N.Y.. High School: Canisius HS. Linebacker. Height: 6'3". Weight: 240
  24. Bills are all in this year. It's Playoffs or bust. New owner on the way. If they fail again, the new owner will certainly clean house and they will be another 2-4 years back in the rebuilding process. If they miss the playoffs, whomever the new GM is will try and get the 2015 1st back to draft the next franchise QB. Tag & trade Spiller is about the only option to get back in the 1st round next year if things go really bad this year.
