Erie County is an island of boozers in an otherwise moderate NY... also the Adirondacks. Theory: alcohol consumption correlates with annual snowfall. An what is it about Wisconsin? The place is going to explode with all the alcohol vapor. source: https://brilliantmaps.com/americas-drunkest-driest-counties/ interactive version: https://intoxistates.com/

Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
boater replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
At first, I was outraged that the new stadium was 10000 seats less. But now I'm at peace with it, it kind of makes sense in the bigger picture. Seats were limited in order to make the experience better: bigger seats, more room, larger concourses, no trough in the Men's room. I can't wait for the new place to open. It sure isn't like the old days with Rich Stadium seating an NFL high of 80,000 -
Name a random athlete and something you remember them by
boater replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall
Just popped in my head.... the Sabres Gilbert Perreault. Number one draft pick overall in 1970 and worth every ounce of it. It was fun to watch him play. -
The Patriots Stephon Gilmore'd us, twice this off-season. By signing current or former Bills, I guess they think they're getting a player motivated to stick it to us. They like doing that.

Has Cook talked himself OFF the Bills for 2025
boater replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
Transition tag... that is an intriguing option. Though some say it may not work (wikipedia): "The transition tag is rarely used by NFL franchises. There are two reasons for this. The first is that the one-year transition offer is typically a large amount, which could provide the club with difficulties while attempting to keep the team's aggregate salaries under the salary cap. The other is that players often react badly to receiving the tag, because it limits their ability to negotiate with other teams and therefore hinders their chances of receiving the largest possible contract. Players sometimes counter the tag by holding out or refusing to play for the club, creating distractions and headaches for the club." -
Has Cook talked himself OFF the Bills for 2025
boater replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
There will be no holdout, Cook wants to be seen by future suitors as a team player. He will play his nuts off and do great things this season because it's a contract year. When the 2025 season is over, some team will offer Cook $13 million/yr. and away he goes. At least we got a few good seasons out of him. -
I think Benford loses some dollar value on the open market due to his history of concussion. I'm not saying there won't be interest in him, just saying he will draw less money than he would have otherwise. Once concussed, you're likely to get concussion again. Look at Mitch Morse who was a frequent flyer on the concussion protocol.

It’s time for a generational talent, blue chipper
boater replied to Vickveto's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly. I'd rather buy a handful of scratchers than one Mega-Millions. Besides, you have to be an Uber driver from California to win the Mega-Millions. Beane is an above average GM when selecting talent after the first round, let's pick more there. Late round picks also have good long term implications for the salary cap. -
Yes. The Normal Distribution Curve applies. Most players are dreadfully average, they are in the meat of the curve.

It’s time for a generational talent, blue chipper
boater replied to Vickveto's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fans: We should get a generational player. Same Fans: Beane sucks at first round picks. -
AND... it usually entails a major market team (like the Jets, Giants, Redskins, Cowboys etc.) because there is a lot of clicks generated by teasing those fan bases.

Interesting take on the new FA signings by Greg Cosell
boater replied to Billsfed1's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cosell is a walking encyclopedia of player knowledge. He has a lot facts jammed into that cranium. -
Hoecht and Ogunjobi 6 game suspension for PEDs

But six games? I thought this type of conduct got you 4 games. -
Just how can you not love JA17

Maddie was meh as a commentator, but then her stock went up in my book after she spoke the truth about Diggs. She's alright to me. PS: she shouldn't have apologized. -
I know Hollins wasn't a prolific producer. My memory may be rose tinted, but I remember about one big play a game from him. What facts do we know about what Beane offered him? Maybe Beane didn't offer anything at all. In my guesstimation, Beane offered Hollins a one year contract and Hollins opted for the two years he was offered by NE. FWIW, this is what he got from NE: 2025: Base salary: $2,000,000 Signing bonus: $750,000 Roster bonus: $850,000 Workout bonus: $150,000 Incentives: $1,000,000 Salary cap hit: $3,750,000 2026: Base salary: $2,900,000 Signing bonus: $750,000 Roster bonus: $850,000 Workout bonus: $150,000 Incentives: $1,000,000 Salary cap hit: $4,650,000

But but... a poster in the Joey Bosa thread tells us: "Beane can't scout or draft, so he resorts to desperate FA signings" LOL, perpetually negative fans add spice to this board.
-
Pittsburgh didn't open up the wallet for him? I guess there is no sentimentality for the hometown boy.

Joey Bosa signs with Buffalo. 1 year, $12.6 million
boater replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Joey Bosa = 29 years old Von Miller = 35 years old The age comparisons are a false argument. -
Maybe this signing will appease those fans in the "we need a weapon" club. Is he a weapon?

Khalil Mack back with the Chargers
boater replied to BuffaloBillsGospel2014's topic in The Stadium Wall
I know, it is saddening. This season may end up being the mini-rebuild that was supposed to happen last season. That would suck. -
Khalil Mack back with the Chargers
boater replied to BuffaloBillsGospel2014's topic in The Stadium Wall
Concur. In lieu of big spending on an FA, I hope the draft for pass rushers provides us a gem, that's about the only option left. -
Browns ink Myles Garrett to an Extension
boater replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
There are 31 other teams chasing elite talent like Garrett. And most of them have more money to throw at it. It's a bit arrogant or delusional to think that the Bills are always in the Top-5 to sign someone. -
Josh Allen gets record contract extension $330 million

The new contract is already in Wikipedia. Dang... that took minutes. -

Pinch me. -
Absolutely. Tank years are a legit strategy. Especially if you time it to hit a draft strong in QBs.
