I was harsh on Terrel Bernard after the first game he filled in for Tremaine Edmunds. It was a lackluster game for him and I expressed low expectations for the future. I WAS WRONG, and I am glad about that.

I like to watch on TV. I end up watching at a friend's house. That is great and all, but they have some habits. They talk over the announcer after big plays. They also do replays using the DVR function--on occasion they miss real game action doing so. But I accept it as-is because you can't over-appreciate a good friend.

I, for one, am a Bills fan who highly approves of Allen's golf habit. Golf is good for the brain. It entails focus, concentration and strategic thinking--all of those contribute to good QB play. (confession: I have golfed only three times, but enjoyed it)

Youtube creators have the option of creating a transcript. I wish they had done so here. I like to get my news reading. I can read 10 minutes of video or podcast in about 2 minutes. Judging by the comments at Youtube, Dion was his usual personable and impressive self during this interview. He is a mensch. He's a credit to the Bills.

Recaps of Summer Games.... this is something I'm not going to get hot and bothered over. I don't see it as a step on a slippery slope toward full automation of coverage. Al Michaels.... is it the good Al from years back? I always liked that Al. Or is it the worn out, past his time, Al from Amazon? Amazon Al only has one year left, that's a good thing. I think of the Artificial Intelligence Spotify DJ that my daughter listens to. That guy isn't bad, the algorithm is very good. That could make a nice game recap if they do it right.

This penalty will be paid by higher ticket prices, higher streaming prices, and even more commercials. What a win for the fans!

Yeah, VPNs suck. I only got it for connecting to strange WiFi when traveling. For everything else over the internet, it is an impediment.

Paramount+ does not connect with my VPN at all. I have to shut down the VPN to use Paramount+.

I'm not going to take shots at Beane because he only has one player in the Top 6 percentile. An Athletic article has the Bills with the 4th best roster in the league. House three doors down in my nice neighborhood is going for 185K. It's not a peach of a property, but for some people it's an upgrade in life. I've been watching and I'm concerned because a lot of the people looking at it have an investor vibe to them. That means renters and typically renters aren't optimal neighbors. They don't invest in the house (understandably) and neither does the landlord. The few renters on the street aren't quick with shoveling the snow or mowing the lawn.

There is something to be said for leaving WNY in your prime earning years and then returning when you are established in life. I am better off today having done that, rather than staying in WNY my whole career.

I live in Buffalo. When I go out with my Bills ballcap*, no one says anything. I'm OK with that. * spell checker doesn't like ballcap as one word, but I Googled and it is one word

I never heard of the place. I asked a friend and he told me it was the old "Pink Flamingo" then I remembered it.

I went to RIT. The dozen sunny days I had there were great. They had a walk called "the quarter mile" ...just brutal weather elements. There was a sun dial on campus, but never any sun to read it by.

WNY is moribund career wise. The number of unemployed is rising (May 2024 DOL statistics). The rosy job growth predicted by Zillow is not happening. That you make 6-figures could be a source of cognitive bias. Just because WNY is better than the past, it doesn't mean it competes with the rest of the nation. The many Expats on this board are examples of people where moving to WNY would be a step down.

I wish WNY had the job market to match this good news. It's cheap to live here because no one makes any money. If you make more than $20 an hour, you are doing well for yourself. It's sad. I ask my children to move here--they take one look at the job prospects and say no thank you.

I'm thinking more along the lines of 62 year old Sheryl Crow. (but she has to check her politics at the door)
