Exactly. Right now our only tackles on the roster are Dawkins, Brown and Quessenberry. That is awful. Quess should not be more than an OT4 on a roster Brown was only a late third round pick. If he doesn’t become a starter but can give us a better option at swing tackle, that is still a lot of value out of a third rounder. Get an OT early so we can hopefully have better protection for the most important player on the team.

Yea I post because it’s Bills related but don’t think Walterfootball is too connected to the Bills. I would be shocked if we drafted Torrence even in the second round. Bresee is kind of a boarderline guy, the only thing that held him back was the medicals. But the Bills have more info than I have and if they find him to have a clear bill of health then he would qualify right along with Mazi Smith as a top option in line with the Bills draft tendencies.

That definitely could happen! Beane is a smart guy and knows his drafts have been criticized lately and a new approach may yield different results. I’m going to guess we stick with the same strategy though, because he parroted the get a guy who can contribute year one and develop into a starter year 2 mindset at his pre draft presser.

Yes, We are still missing (I think 6) pre draft visits which Simpson may have been one so I couldn’t definitively rule him out. I agree with you though the chance of him being the pick at 27 is lower because it doesn’t seem the Bills are targeting any LB with their visits.

Everette Brown, DE, Florida State. He put poor Ed Wang when he was LT at VT on his butt with a sick bull rush and I was sold. Got drafted in the second by Carolina and was trash. Turned out Ed Wang was just awful haha

These are all great questions. I think I may have missed the mark on describing the criteria a bit as many responses question using 21 as a cutoff and how sticky that will be going forward. I think it may have been better to combine criteria 1 and 2: being 21 with two years of production. It makes sense that McBeane would like that type of prospect. In that scenario, the player would have started producing by their age 19 season in college. That means they were better, earlier in their career than most of their peers. Which to your point, probably means they have an elite trait. And as they age and fill out, they should have room to develop further than say a 23 year old who was dominating 21 year olds. Now, McBeane could change their strategy at anytime looking for more immediate impact with players closer to their developmental ceiling. Based on his pre-draft presser, it seemed like he was still very much in that “draft, fill a role day 1, and develop into a starter by year two” mentality which is why I have Mazi Smith so high on the list. For now, this is just a prediction based on trends I have seen. It is not a guarantee and could be far off as the roster is changing, getting older and more expensive which may force Beane to reflect on and change the type of player he is looking to draft early

I don’t really think JSN will be there for the Bills if that’s what you mean. But he does not fit what they have drafted in the past. I would take him if he is there at 27

I’m not really diving into the logic of it, just something that keeps happening the last 5 years. As we look to narrow down who we may draft this year, that just happens to be one thing they all had in common. When you pair a young age with two years of production (basically starting being productive in college as a 19 year old) I think those two together give you a more full profile of what they look for.

Addison can play all over the field which is a positive. IMO, Sherfield is an upgraded Kumerow, Harty is an upgraded McKenzie, Shakir is being trained for that old Gabe Davis WR4 role. I think there is room on the team for a third receiver, even one that plays a lot in the slot like Addison would on this team.

I think he would, probably around Mayer’s level. The production may be a little lacking for him as well but since his main value is blocking it may be tough to judge. I hope they don’t look at that list and say “we good at slot receiver” Yea it’s not just 21, there are other criteria. Over the course of 5 years it is not a guarantee but more of an educated guess. Not necessarily what I would do, but the Bills seem to have a type that I am using to guess. We will see on Thursday!

Downs is awesome and would match what the Bills look for. The only thing with him is he had 0 top 30 visits. Not one team brought him in. I’m guessing here, but I think he is going to go later than people are expecting. Like James Cook territory.
