    Will Grier

Agree 100%, he needs to refine some serious footwork flaws, needs to work on using some touch and getting past his 1st read. I see talent in the 2 games I watched so far, but recurring issues throughout both games. I watched both these games live and then again this morning, what I saw: fwiw: VS. Va. Tech: Throws off his back foot with his body not moving into the throw and drifts sideways a lot, on slants especially, under pressure as well, accuracy is affected but is throwing a catchable ball, "Lucky or good"? on many throws, short quick hitters he is drifting and not stepping into the throws, but is getting the ball where it needs to go on time. He does this on his 1st TD pass of the game and under throws the WR on a jump ball, but coverage is over the top, "Lucky or good?"... Does this for no reason at times 3:46 of the 3rd. He does this again on the slant for his 2nd TD (2:18 or the 3rd), drifts away from the throw with his feet and body, but the throw itself is good. Awful mechanics on INT at 14:55 of the 2nd, counts on are strength as he falls out of the throw and right to the defender on the LOS off the scramble trying to lob it over the defender. The Good: Has 5 nice intermediate and deep throws where he steps (mechanics much better) into the the throw and puts it on the money. 13:04 of the the 3rd quarter "Good", 7:05 d Quarter, 1:59 or the 3rd. A couple of throws into coverage "Lucky or good?" that work out: 12:37 of the 4th for a TD, but coverage is all over the receiver, tight window? Good things con't: Catch and throw on quick screens and hitters is accurate, Alex Smith like legs in scrambling and picking up free yards when his first read isnt open. Confidence is there, moxy and competitive spirit for sure. Bad: Foot work and platform are awful on too many throws. Locks on to primary read, did not notice any secondary reads. Few if any bucket/touch throws, thows fastballs and fast changes, no true change up. VS. Ok. St.: Versus Va. Tech Grier seemingly got away with bad mechanics and footwork, in this game he does not and this IMO is not a better secondary than Tech's. This whole game, the majority of the time Grier is not stepping into his thorws and my live game notes repeat this throughout. The falling out or away from the throws and drifting is clearly affecting his accuracy throughout the game, similar to the Tech game, lots of fastballs and hard throws, none with touch, reminds me of Ryan Nassib at Cuse'. He to does move to secondary reads at least 2 times in the game that I noted. 1st INT: Bad mechanics and bad throw = INT. 2nd INT: Off platform and falling back while throwing, not stepping into the throw on deep pass is a big time no no, does not have the arm strength to make the throw, WR is covered deep and the CB is in deep coverage waiting on this pass, easy pick, WR see's the CB (who is in better position to make a play) and doesnt think the ball is coming his way, as it shouldnt be. 3rd INT: Grier slips (it looks like) during his delivery and throws behind the WR and is picked off as the S (?) is watching the play unfold the whole way. Pass might have been a TD without the slip (if that is what it was), some air under the pass would have helped regardless IMO, but as usual Grier is gunning passes, not using any sort of touch. Enough of this game... My quick thoughts: Its only 2 games I watched and the only 2 I saw during the season, but IMO Grier is a late round (2018 draft, 2019 would be better) developmental prospect after watching these 2 games a 2nd time. He trusts his arm to compensate for some really bad lower body mechanics and off platform throws which killed WVU in the Ok. St. game and he got away with in the Tech game. When he steps into throws at the intermediate to deep levels there is some high level throws. 50 yards seems to be his max range and his passes at the intermediate and deep levels seem to be him putting his all into the throws, I question his natural arm strength and his ability to make touch passes, he does not make many if any reads in these games, I have him coming off his primary twice of note in the 2nd game. He needs to stay in school so far IMO.
  2. Lol, a fair question. If KB is in the line up and healthy, there's a chance for the Bills WR's...
  3. They declined his option last March and would have to franchise him to guarantee having him back next year, they could work out a deal but he has the option of test free agency 1st, who wouldnt? They could go with him, no doubt, Im just not sure they will mess with the team chemistry if Keenum succeeds for the rest of this season. Bridgewater still has a lot to prove, and Keenum has done more in less time than Bridgewater on the field. I certainly agree they have the talent and coaching to make win non the less. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the season and off season play out for the Vikings and what impact it could have in Buffalo in the off season.
  4. This QB offseason between the draft and Free agency is the most interesting one I can ever remember at this point in the season, almost anything is possible, there is going to be a lot of possibilities for sure for most of the league at QB, Buffalo included.
  5. All 3 are free agents, unrestricted I believe. They could franchise one of their choosing as far as I know. They could tag and trade, but I don’t see it. I’m far from a Vikings expert, but Bridgewater is as close to as big a injury risk as Bradford IMO, so do they roll the dice on one of them and let the other 2 walk? If Keenum continues producing and the team pushes deep into the playoffs? I’d have a hard time going with Teddy who while showed some signs of growth but didn’t Light the league on fire prior to what many catogorized as a catastrophic knee injury and is going to get signed somewhere if he leaves but for what and who is going to gaurantee him a starting spot? Will it be worth leaving? IMO Minny could match any offer which won’t be exhorbant, sign Keenum and offer them both a chance to start, let them duke it out in camp. They are going to keep at least one Id bet on it, but which one? How the season plays out will certainly affect the desicion ultimately IMO.
  6. Possibly, Bradford I’m not sure is going to be able to stand after a 3rd ACL to the same knee, I can’t recall hearing of that before. IMO take your millions walk as best you can for as long as he can at this point Sam... Football wise his mobility behind this line would be a 4th ACL in Buffalo in camp. I wouldn’t bother with him myself. Keenum is a guy I liked coming out and has exceeded my wildest expectations this year, if he keeps it up, they resign him, plenty of cap space as I see it to do so. IMO won’t hit the market, they can use Bradford’s money with Sam coming off the books for Case and still be in the green for spending on others, draft a guy mid round and bring Teddy back to back up for under the $22 Million Sam, Case and Teddy made this year combined.
  7. From the games Ive seen he has made plays, a couple in coverage, was wondering what kind of PT he got in the Chiefs game on passing downs, I can see the smart and instinctual comparison to Thomas and that would go a long way if he had that kind of career as a WILL for Buffalo, homerun of a 5th round pick if so! Would speed up the “Process”. I am with you on the QB situation, I really like what I saw from the 2 games I watched so far of Ryan Finley as well and saw higher level reads and ball placement, and I think Josh Allen has physical skill set they like, both could potentially be had without moving up if you believe the pundits. It’ll be interesting to see how the draft process plays out for me as I think there are 10 guys who could go in the 1st potentially. I think you are making a safe assumption in them moving up for a QB, if I bet, I would bet on it with confidence. Makes sense, would be perfect if they didn’t have too, but if they do, using as little draft capital as possible would be ideal. Colts IMO are a prime trade down canidate in addition to the 9ers, Bucs I could see staying and getting a pass rusher, but if the price is right who knows?
  8. Cousins in FA, trade back in the draft and build or stay put and take the best Tackle prospect to protect Cousins or another FA QB type. I think Elway isnt looking for a rookie either, that would waste the defense and the last of the offense. I think he'll look for the quick fix.
  9. Hughes and... Hughes and... Hughes and... Sorry watched Super Troopers this weekend, aside from Hughes who you got on the DL that can create pressure? Pressure by the front 4 will certainly be key (which is not looking good), if Brady has time he's as close to impossible to beat as any QB ever, finds the open man/miss match too quickly to begin with, give him time and its already over. The middle of the field will need to be clogged up for sure to have a chance, the LB's and secondary will have to play the game of their lives as will Tyrod throwing the ball (better than vs. Seattle last year) and as DC Greg said: "Heart. Miles and miles of heart. - Jimmy McGinty" and then the Bills might have a chance. Its going to take a lot...
  10. Milano is starting to give me hope that the Bills will only need 2 new LB's heading into next year, I hope he see's more of the field myself moving forward this year. Was he on the field in sub packages much while in? I wasnt able to watch the game yesterday and was wondering how he did in coverage.
  11. It was a great play by White, awesome to hear him talk about how he knew it was coming from film study and used that knowledge to ice the game! He's been this way since day one at LSU and his attitude/ethic has carried over to the Bills.
  12. Seriously, might be a better offense than the 2007 Pats O if that happens. However (sarcasm on), given that he would likely not "produce" as the Edelman's, Gronk's, Cook's, Hogan's, Lewis's, Amendola's, Whites's, Bennett's and Burkhead's would get theirs as TB12 spreads the ball around to the open guy in 1.2 seconds as defenses cant double anyone in empty sets, the Pat's O scores 42 points a game while Brady plays only the first half, Hoyer looks like TB12.2 playing the 2nd half of all 16 games and is named to the Pro Bowl to back up Brady after the Pat's O adds another 21 points in the 2nd half as the O alone averages 63 points a game, several Bills fans will continue to start posts about how Watkins is not that good, was not a factor here, injured too much, soft, gives away interceptions, and has no real effect on the Patriots Offense as their "#5" option and is overpaid as he takes less to play for NE, despite Watkins catching only 82 passes for 1470 yards and 15 TD's, while NE goes 16-0 in 2019 and wins its 3rd consecutive Super Bowl. (Sarcasm off)
  13. Oh lord, I’m not saying those things are true. I was agreeing originally with LABacker, and some where along the lines some confusion developed. I’m saying that the OP/thread are dumb as is some of the analysis of the play itself; like that it was nearly a perfect pass, or that he let the corner make the pick that I have read in this thread. The pass was aweful, he tried to make the catch as best he could, there was no way he gave up and let the CB just make the pick, too say other wise is dumb. To put that play on Watkins is sheer stupidity.
  14. In all seriousness I’m agreeing with you. I meant it was 7 yards short. The thread is dumb to begin with, the OP is clueless and is obviously agenda driven. How anyone could call the pass nearly perfect or say that Watkins let the defender pick that pass (comments from other posts) is sheer stupidity and makes me laugh. I’m not trying to get you, I’m agreeing with you, that was a awful pass.
  15. Yeah it was (EDIT:) seven yards short, how anyone could say other wise is dumb, as is saying he let the corner intercept it. I get a good laugh off the sheer stupidity of some of the things posted here (EDIT:) like saying it was a perfect pass, it was clearly not perfect or even close to perfect.
  16. Amazingly enough not as dumb as some of the analysis of the play itself, (EDIT:) like saying it was a nearly perfect pass, (EDIT:) or like saying he let the corner make the interception...
  17. Anyone else notice the single high safety was on the boundary or field hash to Watkins side almost every time he was split out wide, even when he was the lone receiver to either side of the field? Easier on the other receivers when the defense brackets or doubles Watkins
  18. Denver, in this mock I went with the premise that Elway gets impatient (I suspected Lynch would see the field soon, as he’s evaluating his QBs and with their season on life support at the time of this mock and now over it’s Lynchs turn) and doesn’t want to draft one, but rather make the splash in FA. Cousins could go to Miami, but I think they are going to give Tanny another chance and Gase likes him, one more these for those two IMO, but that’s gotta be a hot seat in south beach. Washington could retain him, cap carry over, cuts etc. they could do the franchise at $34+ million and still have around $20 million+ to play with from some of the numbers I’ve seen and heard, but their roster would be Swiss cheese, they could work out a deal. Pittsburgh If Ben retires could suddenly be in the mix and might be attractive to Cousins. I appreciate the response, another quality one in regards to this mock.
  19. Devin White is going to be a stud, if he can develop some consistent recognition in the run game and continue developing in coverage, watch out. He's already a heat seeking missile as is. Much like Rashaan Evans will climb boards this year, I would expect White to do the same next year if he doesn't start high to begin with.
  20. Darrel Williams (RB - LSU) is going to be a NFL back, one cut type runner, can catch the ball to and holds up in pass pro. I think he fits the Dennison offense very well (If he's still here next year). JMO, but he would be a fantastic mid to late round back to add to the roster, 4 year player, always productive and low mileage. I think Guice would be great, but I dont see them spending a high pick on a RB this year, unless they move Shady....
  21. Interesting point on having simple schemes to mask in a way the lack of talent, hadn't thought of it that way, but it makes almost perfect sense given whats going on in the organization at this point. Good post, simply put the talent on this team is lacking and no matter the scheming, coordinating, play calling, coaching, Buddha or Allah himself, can over come this at the NFL level.
  22. Erik Pears being the worst turnstile... I mean RT in league history. There I said it, sorry Jordan. p.s. Jordan Mills jerseys are 25% off on nflshop.com, get them while they're hot!! Sorry XXL sizes are out of stock. Seriously...
