I think this years class is clearly better and the Bills are best suited to either sign Cousins or move up for Mayfield, Darnold or Rosen rather that waiting until next year. Next years class IMO is not close to as good as this years (not with higher end prospects especially), but I dont think its 2013 bad, not spectacular by any means. Lock - Get used to being sick of hearing the term "gunslinger", there isnt a throw he doesnt like, needs to wok on checking down instead of throwing into coverage down the field, which he loves to do, but also needs to learn efficiency and utilize more quick set throws, recognizing coverage. If he can up his completion % by doing so and reduce the risky throws he could be in the 1st round mix. Thorson - If you are a purely stats guy.... Well bad on you, Thorson on paper looks like a JAG. If you can see the complete lack of talent around him and his ability to make chix salad out of chix $h!t, then you'll see a leader who I thought could have been in the first round mix this year. IMO he is more of a WCO type of QB, smart, quick decisions and the opposite of Lock interms of throwing the ball. I think he's the #1 QB heading into next year (injury is clearly a factor) in his ability to potentially play immediately, and I think he'd flourish with talent around him. Eason/Browning - If Eason can win the job over the incumbent Browning at Washington he could have a big year and be a big mover heading into the draft, Browning maybe the better college QB, but Eason has serious pro potential. Will he be allowed to showcase it? He'll likely be more of a 2020 prospect. Stitham, Francois, Grier IMO have a lot of work to do, Bryant is talented but also has some work to do, all need refinement. Patterson I havent seen much of. Finley I liked a lot watching him live, but watching him back on tape there was a disconnect for me, but there is a lot to like IMO, and I think made the right decision in coming back for next season, could be in the 1st round mix. Next years Dline class is going to be spectacular! Potentially record breaking. Regardless, I hope Buffalo does not trade their 2019 1st.

I certainly agree that signing Cousins is least likely and him going to Denver IMO makes a ton of sense in the trade scenerio I have here, I think it makes a ton of sense for both teams and looking at the situation objectively for both teams, I dont think the situation slants towards one team more than the other. Plus my good friend who is a Bronco's die hard approved it! Personally, I agree with Mayfield who I believe at this point is the #1 QB in the draft, despite my thinking that he is probably #3 on most teams boards. Im really interested to hear how the interview process goes for the 3 of them. Thank you guys. John C - It is time consuming and a lot of work, I do enjoy it and have for a long time. Lamar Jackson is certainly someone I need to put more time in with some fresh eyes, Im going to wait until after the combine at least. Rosen might not be a good fit, but if himself, Mayfield or Rosen fall to the 4th or 5th pick and a reasonable deal can be made should they not get a franchise QB in FA I would jump all over it, Rosen would actually be the last of the 3 I would pick based on his medical history, the town fit? Maybe not great, but I think he's a guy who speaks his mind, and that I can deal with. What about him do you think would not mesh well with Buffalo? Creek - Appreciate you, the wide receiver position this year is a big group, lots of jump ball guys (6'4"+) and bigger physical (6'1"ish guys), not a great year for slot receivers, but the group is very deep, im only about 20 in and IMO they all are draftable, its a deep group. The DT's have some nice well rounded guys at the top, but nice depth in terms of being run or pass game specific. The RB group is really deep again, the QB pool is deep with depth at the top, and Ilike the CB group into the 4th-5th round. One thing that I found interesting is the TE group, they are all so similar in physical stature and playing style, yet no elite level athletes or dominate blockers, the position has changed and this group exemplifies IMO where the position has evolved to, mismatches based more on size and positioning, than much else.

I have the same grade on him as I had on Donald, and I could see it going higher, I agree with you assessment on him 100%, his quickness in a phone booth is special. Bama had maybe their best NFL able defense ever this year, the secondary as a whole was special, Minkah and RH should both go in the first, Harrison can be as special as you say, I have about the same grade as I had on Landon Collins coming out and I think Harrison is better in coverage at this point in their respective draft process, I think today he's a better prospect because of that aspect. SDH is a guy I went with my advanced notes on and need to go back and evaluate further, you could be right, he'd be a nice get in the 4th from what I have seen of him. Hand is pure boom or bust, he flashes when I watch others, but blends in at times as well, why did he sit so much?

I think so, I almost put him in the DE group and probably should have similarly to Hand and Speaks both of whom would have to lose or hold their current weight to do so for a 43 front like McD plays but I could see McD liking that versatility and using any of the three in as base ends then sliding them inside an NASCAR like package or just as an 3 tech. The Thomas similarity is interesting I had not thought about that... I don’t know if Thomas has that ability.... Initially on him I would say no, but your now the 3rd person to bring him up to me and I’m going to have to rewatch or watch more on him.

Faulk looks amazing some plays and like absolute trash other times and has his fair share of aweful decisions I’m going to wait a while and come back to him with some fresh eyes as well. I get the Allen hesitation by anyone, he’s a projection for sure, I thought he showed some touch later in the Senior Bowl week, but there is a lot of work there no doubt and probably 2 years before he is remotely close to ready. The payoff could be something special. - I agree with your thoughts on Brown. - This Pass Rushing class is not deep at all, Key who is the best pure PR In the class when right IMO, has issues to be dealt with and sorted (20-32) is his sweat spot right now as I see it given the risk. Love Davenport, and Chubb a little less, regardless both at gone top 10. I have Edmunds projecting there to help fill the void as a realistic option and Landry is a scheme specific type and needs a plan, reminds me of Hughes and not many Hughes types make it. Hubbard is really over rated IMO. - To have Thomas rated higher is a JPP like projection without a doubt, he needs a combine like that to go day 1, maybe 2 (highest imo) to make it happen. Where do you have him? I want to like him, but every time I watch him I come away disappointed, leaves too many plays on the field IMO, but I see the McD fit, Jerome McDougle? CB? I’m not there yet, I can see why some say yes. The comps athletically and projection wise with Ramsey I feel are off stacking them vs each other, IMO Derwin is better going forward and Ramsey is great going backward with his back to the ball and at... well everything in general. Derwin is going to be be good regardless. I’ll try to look at him as a corner specifically and see what I think next week, I haven’t seen the inate feeling in coverage, almost hesitant. I think All Pro safety is more likely than a move to CB at this point.

Im not trying to sell him short, but stack him up relatively speaking. Ngata blocked 7 kicks vs Veas 2? In college. I had Ngata as a top 10 DT and without hindsight wanted him or sims in 06’, Ngata was my draft crush with Sims a big #2. In 04’ Ben was #1 IMO and unrealistic and Eli I thought would go 1 or 2 with Ben. Rivers, Harrris, Udeze, Vilma and Wilfork I wanted in that order with Wilfork being the most realistic as I saw it, a top 20 grade with the other four off the board I thought pre draft. Wilfork, run stuffer with some pocket collapsing ability strength wise. Vea, run stuffer with some pcket collapsing abliltiy strength wise, top 20 pick skill set wise. Vea and Ngata are compatible I agree, Ngata had a better first step athletically coming out and that separates them as I see it and it showed blocking kicks in college. I thought Ngata should have gone top 10 (Buffalo was unrealistic I thought at the time), Vea top 15 sounds right but his skill set doesn’t fit today’s NFL that well ( he is worthy), so falling down to 21 is plausible, similarly to Wilfork who fell to 21 because of his inability to shoot the gap, like Vea, I just think Ngata separates himself for his size by being able to do so better than either Vea or Wilfork.

IMO Hernandez’s lateral agility and balance will allow him to make up for his physical limitations with arm length, his girth and natural ability to slide side to side make up for that. Vea, while I agree about his strength compensating overly at the collegiate level will allow him to hold the point and still be highly effective in a Wilfork way at the next level. His struggles will be rushing the passer at the next level consistently as they were at the collegiate level.

Vea is not a Ngata clone like most would state, Vea doesn’t have the athleticism to block kicks like Ngata had, nor is he the athlete Ngata was at Oregon, he’s not as quick off the LOS or nearly as good at penetrating the A gaps as Ngata. He’s a really good player, and definitely NT clogger, but not a top ten guy. Ngata was special, top ten worthy, Vea is not and could certainly could last to 21, although I think he could is just as likely to be picked just before that. He’s more in the Vince Wilfork vain athletically and functionally defensively. IMO people forget how special Ngata was and want Vea to be that, Ngata was a pocket wrecker from the jump. Vea is not a 3 tech caliber game wrecker. FWIW Wilfork went with the 21st pick i the 2004 draft.

1st rounders are possible, but 2 dts in the 1st is highly unlikely, price won’t make it till the 2nd round picks we have, Hernandez won’t make it to the end of the 3rd, Ballage wont make it to the 4th, Lauretta is not a 2nd round qb despite his senior bowl mvp. IMO this is not a realistic mock. I get 5th round bpa, but who? The qb FA would still influence everything, but still this mock is unrealistic regardless, Lauretta and and Peterson won’t cut it going into 2018 if they want to win. No lb and no pass rush would leave gaping holes on the roster. what do you think they do if FA? I agree that 2 1st picks could be DL, but one has to be an edge rusher given the need of this team and history of this front office.

If available, if, Mayfield all day. More than likely need to trade up, if he’s the target and slides into the bottom of the top 10ish area. An move can be made while keeping several valuable higher picks this year, while moving an asset it 2019 if needed and still having quality draft capital in both the 18’ and 19’ drafts for other needs/value. IMO that is more realistic, should he slide out of the top 7 picks or so..

I think he’s closer to Barkley and the top 20 of the draft, than he is to the 2nd round. Right now I’d be surprised if he makes it out of the 1st round, he’s got size and hands (20+ catches SO and JR years) to go with explosiveness and speed. I’ve got the top 3 backs in the draft Barkley, Michel, Guice (I’m a LSU guy) today. IMO he’s a top 20 player skill set wise. If he’s there in the second, which I am not anticipating, I take him, it’s a easy yes.

Would be a huge 1st round IMO, my #1 CB and DT in the draft, would personally also love a Payne (DT), Evans (LB) 1st round, maybe even more so...

This is not personal to you, Im just trying to figure the conversation out regarding this years conference championship QB's and now apparently any QB will do... Whats the lesson? 2014 - Conference Championship QBs - Luck, Brady, Rogers and Wilson (2 - 1st round picks, a 3rd and a winning 6th round lottery ticket.) 2015 Conference Championship QBs - Manning, Brady, Newton and Palmer (3 - 1st round picks (#1's) and a winning 6th round lottery ticket.) 2016 Conference Championship QBs - Rogers, Ryan, Brady and Big Ben (3 - 1st round picks and a winning 6th round lottery ticket.) Lets ignore that in the previous 3 years, 8/9 QB's other than Brady in the Conference Championship games were 1st round picks, 4 were #1 overall, 6 were picked in the top 10, and over react to the now. Bortles was a top 5 pick, Wentz who led the Eagles the majority of the year was a top 5 pick, and the Vikings starting QB this year was the #1 pick and they also have Teddy who was a 1st rounder on the roster. Might this years conference championship starters be an abberation or beneficiaries of fortunate circumstances??

For what it’s worth... Ive watched 75% or so of the skins games the last 10 years, I know a person with direct connections with the Skins front office (who agrees it is a mess and the only one with a clue was forced out in a power struggle, for being an “alcoholic” which could be said for many of those still running things), the owner hasn’t a clue and hires mostly yes men (should sound familiar), while meddling with things he shouldn’t. The organization is a mess and has been for years. Everyone I know who I consider to football literate down here thinks Cousins is the only reason they make the playoffs, win 9,8,8 games instead of 5/6, 4/5, 4 games. I won’t get into injuries, drops and such... I agree 100% he is not a top 5 guy and borderline top 10 is fair, IMO he’s raised that franchise out of drafting top 10 the last 3 years. I have no idea if Cousins would come to Buffalo, what I know of him, he’d fit right in with the City and coaching staff, and signing him and using the draft to team build around him is the best long term path to being legitimate Super Bowl contenders that I see.

I I could definitely see them going CB at some point regardless, if Gaines leaves and even if he stays, cant rely on him at this point to stay healthy. I doubt a first round corner is in the plans back to back years, although if Josh Jackson fell, I could see them snatching him up.

I could live with several, CBS and NBC I also liked, Sporting News wasnt 1/2 bad either, although doubtful no D in the 1st. Donte Jackson in the first to Buffalo, is about the worst pick I have seen, bad for even Walter. Athletically gifted as any in the draft, but he needs a lot of work with technique, awareness and tackling. How many nickel corners with bad hands go in the 1st?

Im a LSU fan and season TV watcher, what character issues? 1/2 the player Mingo was? Key IMO was twice the player Mingo ever was and thats being generous for me, I always viewed Key as what Mingo would have been had he had any actual football IQ or been an actual football player, not an athlete playing football, and Key IMO is still much better football player and its not close in Keys favor. Key was suspended for violating team rules in 2016 for the A&M game and listening to his father talk, let his success go to his head and took a leave of absence to stay with his mother and get his priorities straight (IMO) last spring. I think the character issues are over blown and mostly due to people in the know not sharing the reasoning, IMO getting your $h!t together is not a character issue. Rumors of drug rehab?? He was a beast in 2016, top 5 pick was the rightful talk after the season at about 240 pounds, #1 pick by some based on the talent and production, IMO he has more heart and passion with the talent to match Myles Garrett. He was a pass rushing dream come true, length, explosiveness, moves, counter moves, football IQ, acceleration off the line, etc. The shoulder injury/surgery was put on hold until he got his head screwed on straight and that cost him heading into this season. He gained weight in the offseason (270ish pounds) to bulk up or maybe a lack of conditioning and moms home cooking? and that cost him with his lack of conditioning at the beginning of the season coupled with his recovering from labrum surgery, once he lost a little weight (20 pounds?) and got into football shape I thought he started playing well again, see the Auburn game. This to me is more of an issue, gaining all that weight and the reasoning behind it, along with the medical but I dont see those as career altering injuries. Having said that, Im not sure he's the ideal fit for what McD looks for in a DE, but if he can stay around 250 like he got to around the Auburn game, IMO he'd be worthy risk with either 21 or 22 in the first if they want to get 4 man pressures, as he is also good at disengaging from tackles and playing run D. My .02 fwiw...
