ESPN NFL Playoff Machine (Updated December 22nd)
TPS replied to TSNBDSC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the best scenario is Bills win out, Titans lose this week, Ravens win out, and Colts lose to Pitt this week. The Bills are #2 and face Colts #7. Titans would be #4, and if they beat KC, then the Bills could have home field throughout (for what it's worth this year). UPdating this scenario: Bills win out and keep #2 Pitt wins out (beating Colts and Browns) and keep #3 Titans lose to Pack and get #4 seed Ravens winning out gives them #5 in this scenario Browns #6 Colts #7 Round 1: Colts @ Bills Browns @ Steelers Ravens @ Titans Round 2 KC gets winner of Ravens-Titans (unless Browns win) Bills get Steelers (if Browns win, then they get winner of Ravens-Titans) The way the Steelers look, it's unlikely they win out; however, if they beat Colts and lose to Browns, then the Browns and Ravens switch positions, so Bills still get Colts in R1. -
Scenario where Bills may want to intentionally lose week 17
TPS replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you're afraid to play the Ravens (or Titans) in R1, another solution is for the Colts to lose to Pitt and the Bills win out (with a few other assumptions of course). The Ravens have the head-to-head with the Colts. Personally, while it might be good to rest some players in week 17, it's NEVER a good idea to try for an outcome hoping for a more "favorable" match up. That simply says you're not good enough. Btw, in this scenario, I've also got the Titans as the 4th seed (they lose this week), and I think they can certainly win in KC, which would give the Bills the possibility of home field throughout...that would be the optimal scenario, for me at least. -
That gets my vote too. First name I thought of when I read the title of the thread.

How do we keep Daboll around?
TPS replied to loveorhatembillsfan4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My response in a similar thread not too long ago, I think he wants to help bring the Lombardi Trophy to Buffalo. Hopefully, it's this year. If so, he deserves his shot. If not, I would think he'd be very choosy about the situation, not just the QB in place, but the GM and ownership. -
As I told a friend from Cleveland, your QB from the 2017 class is the best.......at commercials......
-
I was just looking at the stats. The Bills had 2 more plays than the Broncos (65 to 63) and had over double the total yardage. That's an amazing stat.

A random piece of info.....Beasley needs 50 more yards to hit 1,000.

That was awesome! Best thing Tasker's ever done!

Cover1 Film Room on Pittsburgh game
TPS replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, I had to watch it to see if they talked about the Knox PI play, and they do a little after the 113 min mark. I recall seeing a replay during the game where I saw Beasley open, however I wasn't completely sure at the time because there was a figure running behind him which turned out to be a sideline judge. The video here shows that it's quite possible Beasley could've taken it to the house, he was that open. Just shows that Josh has a lot of room to grow. I imagine these kinds of plays has Daboll pulling his hair out, at least if he had any... -

Maybe I have the wrong guy, but wasn't this your criticism of Josh with your "in your head" post? Certainly there has to be a balance, but he still seems to, more often than not, take the low probability home run throw. I don't know if they go over it, but that throw that ened with a PI on Knox he had Beasley for an easy first down throw. I'm torn on these. Love to see him hit some deep ones, but I'd also like to see him control the urge sometimes... -
Week 15 Bills @ Broncos PreGame Thread

One big thing, one little thing: I'd really like to see Allen connect on a bomb today; I'm hoping Kumerow gets his first catch as a Bill--ideally, they happen on the same play... -
That would also mean 6-0 in the AFCE, also great (even though it does include the Jets...)

Prioritize which upcoming UFA’s to re-sign
TPS replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills will most likely sign all of their RFAs sign(Wallace, Zimmer, Kumerow, Boettger, Bojorquez, and maybe Smith the LB) and their one ERFA (lewis). They'll probably sign at least 90% of their PS players. As the OP asked, which UFAs will they re-sign? The list includes: Murphy, Milano, Kroft, Norman, Nsekhe, Feliciano, Williams, Winters, Roberts, Barkley, Jones, Yeldon, Marlowe, and McKenzie. For their more expensive signings (>= $5 mil) ,I think they absolutely re-sign Feliciano for his versatility, insurance against Morse's injuries, and he absolutely fits "the process," in fact he is Mr Process. I don't think they'll be able to afford both Milano and Williams. Milano wants to be here, so he may give them a nice discount, and given his injury history they may be able to come up with a contract that protects them against that. That leaves Williams on the outside, from my perspective. Murphy and Nsekhe are gone, and I don't think they can afford Norman as well. Mid-level ($2 - $5 mil): I'm they'd like to have Roberts back, but no guarantee. They'd probably like to have Barkley back, but it will depend on if they can trust Fromm at this point. Winters is gone. Low-level ($1 -$2 mil) I think they will try to bring back Jones, Marlowe, and McKenzie. Yeldon is gone. Summarizing, the UFAs I think they bring back are Feliciano, Milano, Jones, Marlowe, McKenzie, and maybe Roberts and Barkley. Gone are Murphy, Nsekhe, Norman, Kroft, Winters, Yeldon, and Williams. -

Murphy is an UFA this year, so there's no savings. Star will cost more to release than keep. -
Mike Tomlin on physicality of Bills

This might as well go here too. The loss to the Bills has Big Ben mentioning the R word... https://sports.yahoo.com/ben-roethlisberger-on-loss-to-bills-if-i-dont-play-good-enough-football-i-need-to-hang-it-up-152149722.html -
I was thinking along these lines as I read the OP. I absolutely believe that there's a psychology associated with the concept based upon knowing "in your head" that you should win a game. If taht mentality seeps into enough players, then it shows up in a game. Just as there is a mentality that can help win a game, it works the other way as well. It might not result in a loss most of the time, but it sure can result in not meeting the expected betting outcome--the spread.
