I find it interesting in a Bills fan forum how aggressively people are defending Mayfield. So far this season his summary grade = sucks. It is not like the titans and jets are the top defenses in the league though. And teams had a full off season to review a year of tape on him. He may just be mired in a classic sophomore slump. He may get better. He may not.

Daniel Jones - new starting QB for the Giants

There is a school of thought that game experience helps a young QB develop more than holding a clip board. Clip board holding proponents think it is a fact not an opinion that holding a clipboard is always better. But some coaches think differently. -
Here is a different type of power rankings. Based on a formula, targeted at gamblers. It does not take into accounts things like the injury to Drew Brees and the retirment of Andrew Luck. Not a better method, not a worse method. Just a different method. It has the Bills currently at 15th. https://www.oddsshark.com/nfl/power-rankings oddsharks definitely like the Bills over the Bengals

The main concern about Mayfield coming out of college, was the classic "he is too short" problem. And while Drew Brees is a radical exception to that rule, it has shown to be a problem for many other talented but shorter QBs. Last night we went up against a defensive coordinator who saw Mayfield for a full season live in practice last year. This has to provide a lot more insight for game planning than simply watching game films. I can't say I know what the Jets defense specifically did different than other defenses, but Mayfield looked like he was throwing out of hole last night. Quite a few passes knocked down, and a launch angle requiring his receivers to leave their feet ( and pay a big physical price) to catch balls he through out of the pocket. Greg Williams may have provided the defensive template to beat up on Mayfield last night. I also had some understanding that Mayfield was mobile, but that sure was not on display last night.

Shurmur non-committal on Eli starting week 3

Personally I think the Giants should wait until Eli benches himself. If I was a Giants fan, I would feel as though he earned that right. -

Playing at less than normal speeds seems to be pretty conducive to injuries. -
If Singletary is hurt... trade for Gordon
PlayoffsPlease replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be fair, we don't "need" gordan. The patriots did not "need" antonio brown either. The question is whether or not Gordan would take the team to a higher level. The answer is no, Melvin Gordan is not an Antonio Brown level player. Not worth disrupting team chemistry for. -
Bills vs. Patriots whose defense is better

I am not a player or coach on the Bills. As a consequence my looking ahead will have no impact on the Bills performance against the Bengals. -
The Bills and Patriots have quickly knocked established they are the only two teams with a chance to win the AFC east. I think Josh Allen has already made a case that he is the third best QB in the AFC this season. Unfortunately, Tom Brady is one of the two better QBs. I wish I could say otherwise, but the Brown, Gordan, Edelman crew plus Brady means their offense is stronger than the Bills. Coming into the season, I expected the Bills to have a clearly better defense than the Patriots. But after two games against similar caliber opponents as the Bills, the Patriots have given up only 1 red zone appearance. I have not watched their games, so am just going by box scores. Does our defense match up in a way that makes up for their offense superiority. (Also feel free to convince me they don't have superiority on offense). It is hard to overstate how much I want the Bills to beat these guys twice this year. They are the only team on the schedule I feel looks better on paper than the Bills right now.

Buffalo Bills fan confidence drops despite Week 1 win
PlayoffsPlease replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People really don't seem to grasp the concept that the survey is based on relative expectations and not some sort of measure of fanhood. If you thought the Bills were going to beat the Jets by 3 TD's before the game, after that game your confidence may have dropped. If you thought the Jets were going to win by 30 your confidence likely rose. I guess true geniuses expected the Bills to squeak out a 1 point win after 4 turnovers. Their confidence should remain exactly the same I suppose. -
Legal in some places. But that is not your question. I also think dealing and trafficking are not true synonyms. The phrase human trafficking is used to mean someone being compelled against their will to do something. It is possible for an adult to make a decision to engage in prostitution completely voluntarily. I would to split hairs finely, someone voluntarily being a prostitute is "tracking in prostitution" but not "human trafficking" as everyone understands that phrase to mean. Based on whats is presented in the article, it appears that the prostitutes were compelled by a third party.

The scariest part is both are ultimately disappointing. I think sustained success means you may need to have a QB in that ultra-upper echelon, Rivers/Flacco level ultimately falls short. Among the young QBs i think Mahomes will be one of those guys. I also think Josh Allen will be. Don't see the potential in any of the other young AFC QBs (not even Watson)
