  1. I disagree, i think the over reaction is to the Bills struggling with Dolphins. At the core, the Bills have the talent to compete with the Patriots. They are much better than the Eagles. Bills should cover.
  2. Bills are 24 out of 32 teams in points scored. I think have better than the 24th best talent on offense. I think the defense puts them in favorable positions more often than 24th best. I think its clear Daboll's offense under performs vs. reasonable expectations. I remember people in school who were smart, just not good test takers. Daboll must be like them, really good at coaching, just not good at scoring points.
  3. It seems you have been very well conditioned. Stupid is a stupid wins six super bowls as the old saying goes.
  4. Patricia, Flores, Vrabel , pats also export coaches.
  5. People are criticizing Sam. But once he harnesses his sixth sense, he will be unstoppable.
  6. In Patriots world, they assume its the 64th pick overall. In Dolphins world it is the 33rd pick overall. Not all seconds are created equal.
  7. It is because they played a division rival last night. And they are a main team the Bills need to beat to win the AFC. Try to keep up.
  8. Google's prediction engine is one of the most sophisticated logarithms in the world to estimate what people are thinking about when searching. I was searching for "Why do the Patriots......" and the following choices popped up. They made chuckle. Thought I would share. Prompted me to do the same for the Bills, Jets and Dolphins:
  9. We have been conditioned to think that good sportsmanship requires sports victors to ease up when winning easily. We have been conditioned to believe that every chance to pull your best players to avoid injury should be taken. This begs the question why do the Patriots rarely slow down and run up the score the way they do? One possible explanation is that they are bad sports and like humiliating opponents for fun. I don't think this is the reason. I think the purpose is to intimidate future opponents. I suspect almost all teams first thought in preparing for the Patriots is "lets not get embarrassed" Psychologically and practically this give the Patriots a huge edge. It even manifests itself with the fans of other teams. After the Bills recently loss to the Patriots at home most "good" fans were proud of the teams effort and marked it up as a "moral victory". Similarly after the 10 point win over the Dolphins many of the same fans were disappointed in the teams performance. In fact I suspect the fans, the Bills players and the Bills coaches were all happier in many respects after the loss to the Patriots than after the win over the Dolphins. Its not an original observation to realize that people measure results against expectations. The Patriots create such low expectations for opponents that teams can feel successful, even when they lose to the Patriots. I think the Patriots believe this intimidation edge is an important part of their success. So much so that they leave their best players including 40+ year old QBs on the field longer after the current game is decided.
  10. I am not sure what Jets fans did to be made to suffer so much. Gase is not good at his job, and has a terrible personality to boot.
  11. This is what Belichek said about it: “No, it was just the way the rules are set up. We were able to run quite a bit of time off the clock without really having to do anything. That’s probably a loophole that will be closed and probably should be closed but right now it’s open,” Belichick said. The Patriots were so far ahead in the fourth quarter that it really didn’t matter, but Belichick is right that this loophole should be closed. Teams shouldn’t be able to take more than 40 seconds off the clock between plays. Perhaps this is a rule Belichick wants to see changed, and he was waiting until just the right time to demonstrate that it needs to change." It is hard to say he "exploited" anything with a 33-0 fourth quarter lead. Its much more logical to assume he used the opportunity to bring attention to it. Exploiting it would have been running out the clock in the final two minutes of a playoff game with a 1 point lead.
  12. I agree with this, but think it is a bit deeper problem. Posters seem to think that it is all about "play calling" and "execution" as if each teams plays are exactly as good as every other teams plays. On almost every NFL game I watch, other than Bills games, at least once during the game, the commentators find a play that impresses them enough to draw it up and show how the plays design was the key to the play working. I can't recall one Bills play this year that anyone thought was worth explaining. I don't think Daboll designs good plays. Its hard to overcome poorly designed plays with great play calling and/or execution. We all see a bunch of these plays every game. You can identify them when you are screaming, mumbling or just thinking "WTF was that"
  13. Not rubbish. And I am certain I am right.
  14. Measured the way perennial playoff teams fans rate coordinators = D. Barely passing. Rated against low expectation fans, a solid C.
  15. If you don't build in that direction, you will never get there. Not asking for it now. An offense struggling against the Dolphins with two weeks to appear may not be a sign things are going in any good direction.
  16. That is not at all what I am looking for. I am looking for an offense that is the modern day version of Daryl Lamonica and Steve Young combined. Allen has their skills and mindset, and I think Daboll is trying to make Allen into the the QB you describe.
  17. After seeing Josh Allen's first performance in pre-season last year, I started a thread title "For the love of God, just name Josh Allen the starter" (Mods later changed thread title). To me Allen is the most likable guy in the NFL, and the most fun to watch. I so much want him to succeed. Yesterday's game troubled me quite a bit. With two weeks to prepare for the worst team in the NFL, Singletary back, a upgraded receiving corp including glue hands Duke Williams and Tyler Kroft active, I expected the offense to be hitting on nearly all cylinders. it appears to me now that Allen and Daboll are simply not a good combination. Daboll seems to be committed to developing Allen to play in the Daboll system rather than developing a system to optimize Allen's considerable physical skills. At this point I am not sure they will be successful together. There is a legitimate school of thought to say that there is a proper way to play NFL QB and Allen needs to learn that. At the same time I think it is legitimate to say that some teams have been successful (Russell Wison) adapting an offense to take advantage of a particular QBs skill set. I am not sure which is right. I will say that I think Daboll's offense would work identically well with Jared Goff as our QB, and I think that leaves a lot of Josh Allen's skill set unused. I don't want to turn Allen into Goff.
  18. Philips actually sat on the football. He never once looked for the football after that. He will be mocked in the film room when the team re-watches that play.
  19. Review the play calls on the third down plays that stalled the drives. Once you understand how bad those calls were, you will understand the OP's point.
  20. #nonsense most every team is organized the same way. The salary cap rules result in most teams having as many rookie contract guys as possible and a few older players.
  21. After re-watching the game, I am pretty sure the biggest problem is the awful red uniforms. Toss them out.
