I will say, we took our 9-10 year old grandson to NYC a couple years ago. I wish it didn’t smell like Woodstock. But it did. He was wise and kind enough to not bring that up. I wasn’t in the mood to go down that road with my young grandson. It’s not my place.

I was at the first game in ‘73. I was wondering, if I could only go to one or the other, the last game at the old place OR the first game in the new place…what would I prefer? If it’s the AFCCG that seals the deal, but otherwise? That would be a tough one for me. 🤷‍♂️ I’d want to say goodbye to the old place, but I can’t wait to see the new place. If they pour beer as slowly as they did at Tottenham, we just might tear the place down on opening day. I’d hate to miss my chance to see it in one piece.

We used to sit in the upper deck at Reds games in college. We watched boats go down the Ohio river, and we always had an eye open for the ice cream vendor. It was a pretty chill vibe.

As for the bold, if you guys would smoke more, maybe we could have had a dome? I know who to blame now!

I would like to see him replace Sean Miller at Xavier. I’m sorry, I’m in mourning for the loss of giving a crap about college basketball. I’ll be mildly interested, unlike the NBA which I change channels to avoid. I’ve been saying for a while I don’t mind player mobility or compensation. That’s just fair to me. The portal and NIL just result in a lesser product that I care less about.

I wish I could remember who it was, but just recently I saw one of the greatest ever in his sport just smile, shrug and say and it really doesn’t matter, records are made to be broken. I wish I could remember who it was, because he seemed very sincere and content. I like him more, whoever he is. OK, now I feel like we have a quality plan. 😊

We went to a private school near us once just to see a game, and it’s a lot different when you don’t have a kid out there. Completely angst free! It was supposed to be a varsity game, but we were pretty sure it was JV. We wanted to ask to verify, but we couldn’t. It was just going to be too awkward. “Really? This is really the Varsity team?” 😂

It’s gotten to where I can’t even keep up with the roster from year to year. My sister lives in Appleton, WI near Lawrence University. They enjoy going to those games, and I think I would too. Nobody thinks they’re going to the NBA, they just do it because they enjoy the game and they get an education. Like a better quality high school game. We spent 10+ years of our lives living in gyms between our two boys school, rec league and AAU teams. It just feels good and I enjoy a hot dog and a Diet Coke, my little tradition…..like I needed to get MORE hyped up! 😂

It’s all about the money, for both the coaches and the players. Not only will Miller and his coaches get more, but I heard Xavier has an NIL budget of about $3.1Mil, while Texas is more like $12Mil. The whole thing is broken. I’m not sure if I’ve quit a team, or a sport. I used to go up for a game every year and travel top see them in the Tournament. I didn’t start back after Covid. It’s been going downhill for a while. This seems to be the last straw. .

We started watching “Running Point” with Kate Hudson last night. It’s loosely based on Jennie Buss running the Lakers. Funny stuff once you get what’s going on. We would have finished the first season if it hadn’t gotten late. I think we maybe saw 6-7 of 10 season one episodes. I’m reading there will be a season 2.

Yesterday the Xavier basketball coach, Sean Miller, announced he is leaving for Texas. He was previously the Xavier coach and left for Arizona. He got in trouble at Arizona, and at least one of his guys did prison time. He left, disgraced, but Xavier took him back despite his parting comment that he was going from a Buick to a Lexus. Now he is leaving AGAIN for a bigger school. Yep, I’m done. It’s not just Miller leaving again, it’s also the portal and NIL. They have killed a sport I used to love. Xavier used to be my second team after the Bills. Now? Screw it all……

Apparently I’m doing something right. 🤷‍♂️

I have a sister in Appleton near Lawrence University and they enjoy those games. That might be more my style going forward. Maybe KSU in ATL, but even that is a much bigger school.

I had been rooting for the Big East, but it looks like Xavier has just lost our HC to Texas. He also coached Xavier before he left for Arizona. That time he said it was like going from driving a Buick to driving a Lexus. Maybe this time it’s a Bentley after we gave him a second chance after he was disgraced in Arizona. At least one of his guys went to prison for what went down. He’s a two time loser and this may be the last straw for me. I was already getting tired of the portal and NIL. I’ll have a little more free time on my hands next year.

One great memory with my dad was going into the stadium and picking seats. He got clubs up against the suites and under cover about the 20. Awesome! I keep meaning to go back and visit those seats, like I do the houses we used to live in back in those days. I lived in 9 houses before I left for college at 17. Technically 8 since one of them was twice. Barring hardship, that has to be close to a record.

My AAU playing sons went to UNC hoops camp in Chapel Hill for maybe 5-6 years between the 2 of them. Chapel Hill was my home for a week every summer. I loved it! Duke is Puke. 🤮 indeed! Footnote - Every time I tried to get into Cameron Indoor it was wide open to go in and wander around. Sometimes we would be in there by ourselves and our sons would stand at the FT line and remember famous moments. It’s a fabulous marketing tool! “Intimate” and “tiny and steamy” have such different connotations.

It’s almost like a snowman, it’s just part of the season? 🤷‍♂️

Thursday was weak I admit @Steptide, but Clemson losing made it a great day anyway. Yesterday was better, and we just had an upset today. The best games are yet to come! CHEERS! 🍺 Kills me as a Xavier guy. It’s like brothers fighting! I’ll kill you, until someone else tries to harm you, then we will both harm him. 😂 .
