  1. Then why wait? You don’t have to wait 30 years to file a civil lawsuit. He got paid in 1997. They could have had their money a long time ago. Could it be that they were truly traumatized? Could it be that they needed time to heal and grow strong enough to talk about it?
  2. I tried not to laugh, I really did!
  3. There should be a rule that it has to close at midnight. That is our gift to him. We flame him plenty elsewhere! Some people here would praise him for NOT having a birthday. Just sayin’. . No cake for YOU! 😂
  4. I admit to having seen very little of Abdul Carter, but I’m curious about his ceiling based upon what I’ve heard some guys say about him. Since he won’t be in a Bills uniform, I hope he lives in an NFC city.
  5. I’m sorry if that sounded like I was accusing you personally. It just seems there’s a lot of gold digger talk. If they are really after his money, why didn’t they go after him when he got the big contract in 1997. You’re the one who brought up waiting 30 years until someone came into money. That’s not what happened here. The laws are as they are for a reason. The problem, of course, is proving anything after all that time. .
  6. This is one of the perks about being retired. I used to have to sneak out of the office and go to a bar where I could see the games…..and everyone else who snuck out of the office! 😂
  7. He came into money about 28 years ago. Maybe, just maybe, this isn’t just about money. I know people who have had traumas follow them. It’s not simple, and it wasn’t about money. Why is there an immediate assumption that they are gold diggers?
  8. Baylor just trying to hang on at the buzzer. A 3 point air ball to tie it saves the day, it appears. Today looks like better games than yesterday. I’ll be on the RMU/Bama game in seconds. EDIT: Though I did love Clemson losing! .
  9. Happy Birthday! Give yourself 10 minutes to watch some hoops today.
  10. Sorry, we seem to be having an issue with the boiler. It’s more like a polar bear plunge.
  11. It’s amusing how so many people think we are the only ones with holes to fill, cap space issues and the occasional whiff in the draft. This is very hard, people, and we are doing better than most. If we can just get the stars to align one time, we can put to rest the “one before I die” stuff.
  12. We still need a quality boundary WR but we have a strong OLine, good if not great TE’s and strong RB room. Would we like one more player, sure. Is Josh doing it all on his own, no.
  13. We went to a fundraiser in Nashville and wound up at a bar afterward with a group of people. It turns out the big guy was Sven Nater, and we kind of hit it off. Alcohol was involved, and somehow I left the hotel that night with a bag full of his personal meat rub in a plastic bag. It must have looked like a drug deal went down! 😂 I recall that he had no conscience. I bet a bunch of his teammates wish he had just taken the hint early that it wasn’t going to be his night.
  14. There used to be a restaurant on Hilton Head Island with a lovely lagoon behind. They had a sign carved in wood that said “Please Not Do Feed The Gators.”
  15. They make it SO easy by knowing you just want to cheer for the guys in the dark jerseys! And they list the games and the stations up top so you can stay informed and hop around. It’s all very well orchestrated. .
  16. Didn’t he basically name his successor? Is it that guy? Or the next guy?
  17. Are they still doing that zone? That was tedious to me.
  18. Yep! I dropped him off at the dorm in Tallahassee and helped him move in as a freshman. When he was doing his graduate year we told him we were meeting friends there for a football game, will you be around? He’s the independent type, we had not been back to Tallahassee since I moved him in 5 years earlier. It was fun to take all his buddies out for dinners and getting to know them. A lot of great stories, and pretty much all the guys in his weddings a few years later.
  19. I’m breathing again….I think….
  20. We took our son on a tour of UGA during “decision time”. He loved it. So did I. It was his first choice, but he didn’t get in. We knew multiple people who got in with lower GPA’s and SAT’s. Plus, he was POY as QB of the football team, all area in every sport, and did a ton of volunteer work. I ran into a guy at a bar who did interviews for acceptance at UGA. He said if my son had checked a box saying he was 50% Lebanese he would have been at the top of the pile for acceptance. My SIL went to Vandy and did admissions there as well as Wharton and Penn State. She says that’s how it works, they have different buckets to fill. Our son went to FSU, and his wife went to UGA. We got it covered! EDIT: My FIL ruled on that decades ago, they would not seek an advantage, even if it meant reducing his own kids tuition. I admired that man.
  21. College football is everything in the South. The people who have been here for generations and have roots have a college team and they own it proudly. The other people are generally here for a career (as we are and our son is), and they come from all over the place. They have no allegiance to any local NFL or NBA team. I think “we’ve” lost hockey twice? On the flip side, the MLS games ROCK! Everybody has fun at those games! I guess it’s high energy and nobody has “a team” already. MLS is its own thing, and very cool. .
  22. McNeese State just has better athletes and basketball players than Clemson. I’m curious to see who they play and how they look in the next game. Or is Clemson (and the ACC) just that weak? Oh my! Apparently not! The good thing is, if it’s not UGA FOOTBALL, it is just a minor sadness…..if the people around here notice at all. At least they are not that NFL Falcon team. It’s extremely rare to see Falcon gear in Atlanta. I mean, yes, it happens, but I’ve also seen a Painted Bunting outside my kitchen.
  23. It just keeps going, and I just keep telling people to ignore him. He’s trying to enflame people. Let him die on the vine.
  24. I enjoyed that thoroughly, as a BE guy. As a Xavier guy, it was even sweeter.
