  1. There’s nothing wrong with becoming a Bills fan during the Josh years. It beats never being enlightened at all.
  2. ESPN occasionally has a game that I can only watch there. For that reason only I’m glad I have it, though I can watch a few minutes of PTI if they have good topics. I used to listen to Tony Kornheiser on the radio when my job involved a lot of driving around, and I’m a bit nostalgic for those days.
  3. Give me a break! Who didn’t know THAT already? 😂
  4. I had the family dog with me in college when my parents started traveling for work. Her name was Brandy, chosen by my parents. And yes, I would serenade her when the song came on the radio. Brandy was friendly with one of my buddy’s dog, an Irish Setter named Teisha. When I turned 21 my parents gave me a Golden puppy, and Brandy was not fond of the addition to the family. It was touch and go for a while, more so than any experience I’ve had since. Brandy was old and very grumpy. I had to make Brandy spit the puppy’s head out of her mouth. (Truth be told, I tried to get something nasty from her as a kid, and she scared the crap out of me! 😂) It was not my proudest moment. I swear it helped that I named the puppy Teisha. I was desperate. 🤷‍♂️ Other than that, we just pick (eligible) names, usually starting with a hard consonant. .
  5. I chose from the names that my wife hasn’t put on the verboten list. I really liked the name Maggie for a dog, but it was my MIL’s “Americanized name”, so I knew that would never fly. There are several others, like Bailey. We voted 3-1 to name one dog Bailey, but that was the name of a red headed girl who threw up in my MIL’s car when the wife was young. 🤢 🤮 They couldn’t get the smell out, so they had to trade the car in. (I know, it sounds like a Seinfeld episode.) Apparently that left a lasting impression with my wife. I guess it’s fair to say we both have veto power, but somehow it still feels like the wifey gets her way. I have to pick my battles. .
  6. Is your current residence The Big House?
  7. Like college basketball with the portal and NIL, they have found a way to ruin something I really enjoyed. Sorry, but I miss it.
  8. We rented the first year we were married and paid $600/month in rent. This is 40 years ago, and we felt the rent was very doable. We should have rented a place with better insulation. We were married in February, and our first electric bill was also about $600. Some lessons you learn the hard way.
  9. I’m sure you were quite parched when you came to!
  10. So close, but it looks like you didn’t quite finish that last one! 🍺
  11. I think the long season and the enormous contracts have ruined the NBA. I loved it back when Buffalo had the Braves, and everybody tried as hard as college players. Going to a Tuesday night game in Charlotte it’s obvious that they are just going thru the paces. We took our scrappy little AAU point guard and in less than 5 minutes he turned to me and said “they’re not even trying!” Correct. I believe you about the 3 point shot, but I have to take your word for it. I haven’t watched the NBA in years, but I heard somebody missed like 45 3 pointers in one game. I’m not missing anything, IMO.
  12. Some people here are just waiting to pounce on any little thing they see or hear that proves their point…..these guys are incompetent! I also predict the sun will come up tomorrow.
  13. I think it’s too soon to say that you are not included. Unless you are, and then I was just kidding.
  14. The Buffalo traffic is like an extra treat when I go back. I’m comparing it to everywhere I’ve lived, not just Atlanta. EDIT: I will say that certain areas are busier than I remember at times, but it’s still light compared to most places. .
  15. OK, I give…… Happy Birthday to you too!
  16. I thought it was kinda funny because, well, I live in Atlanta. Don’t try to scare me about WNY traffic. 🤣 Of my family and friends growing up, only one guy I knew well still lives in Buffalo. My buddies are scattered across the country, but I know we all enjoy going back to visit. I lived in Hamburg when I was a kid (thru 3rd grade), then we moved to Williamsville/East Amherst. I really like both areas, but it’s no fluke that I remember the snow being over my head when I was little.
  17. I would rather avoid unnecessary distractions. This is just a distraction.
  18. Happy Anniversary!
  19. Out of the bush! It’s a golf thing.
  20. I see it as more of an opportunity some can’t resist.
  21. I have no expertise, but I have a ton of well wishes. Back and nerve pain are awful.
  22. My sense of smell is not what it used to be. (I’ll get there, I promise!) It’s a nice early summer night here, with a light breeze. I tried to let the dogs out but the older dog wouldn’t go if I didn’t. I went out and sat on a patio while the neighbor behind us cut his grass. He’s got a fairly big lot for a push mower, so it takes him a while. He almost hummed me to sleep. When I was 14 in NY I got my working papers. I was too young to do much else, so I pushed a lawnmower for 40 hours a week at the complex we lived in. The hum of the engine, the vibration and the smell of the gas and the fresh cut grass stays with you. When I gave in to the dog tonight and went down to the patio I realized the smell of his fresh cut grass from the guy behind us was the strongest scent I can remember. I sat down and listened and smelled until he finished. It was crazy how the smell took me back to that time. Much like when I get a fresh whiff of tidal marsh around Hilton Head, or crushed shell pathways in Harbour Town. Smell doesn’t get enough credit. .
