  1. While I think their can be exceptions, I think all evidence we've seen has been contradictory. I think itd be foolish to assume that teams like Cleveland, NYJ, and Chicago have repeatedly "guessed wrong"... year after year. If you look at these teams individually it certainly looks like these teams are ruining prospects, that would've panned out elsewhere. When you combine these teams and a few others, its pretty ubdeniable IMO, that from an odds perspective, theres no way these teams have had that many bites at the apple. Some years theyre accounting for the first 2, 3, or 4 qbs taken overall! There was an article on this recently on how different teams have handled high drafted QB's, amd looking at the details, its pretty easy to see where a bunch of these QB Factory teams go wrong. Might be unpopular, but i do NOT think Josh is anywhere what he is today if he landed in Cleveland or NYJ that year.... gun to my head answer? I think he fully busts out with how raw he was. We forget how much work, and support he received his first 3 years here, to refine that talent. Do certain prospects have a higher chance at NOT busting? Sure they do, but a quick glance at these teams over the last 15 years, without a single one of their teams hitting on a QB prospect.... chances are even the best prospects would bust if taken by these teams! (IMO). https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6584516/2025/09/02/nfl-first-round-quarterback-busts/
  2. Not enough of one honestly. Unless theyre letting him get some extra time first few games, with the intention of ramping it wayyyyy down. Even so he was on the field way too late in Jets game. Dude should see a few 3rd downs in first half and then hopefully we're up enough to get him in a ballcap
  3. Lee Smith who can run routes? Yeah, this dude is going to be beloved here. Dude has been plug and play at a position I think most would argue is the hardest college -> pro transition too. I expect some rookie up and downs but dang, this is the type of role player that gets the juices flowing. What a fit for the offense
  4. Are you nuts? Getting even a Tremaine lite, surprise boost out of a 3rd rd LB'er at this juncture would be an 8-run HR... on rookie deal salary. Sure itd be awesome to get some amazing play outta the kid, but at this point we'd be doing really well to have him just not be in the way.
  5. What kinda LB do you think Curtis Samuel is getting in return? My fat slob ex gf?
  6. Man, this one is such a mystery to me. Has all the traits, appeared to work hard and know how to prepare. Hes now in a defense that suits him well. But thats the draft in a nutshell
  7. This reflects on the GM to be in a position where you may need to fire your HC 11 DAYS INTO THE SEASON LOL I like Mike M, but damn this couldnt have been more clear that he'd lost the locker-room going into the end of last season. To just roll a guy out like that anyways is brutal decision making. Its possible GM Grier wanted to move on from the HC, and the owner - Stephen Ross, said NAH I'm not paying a guy ~$16M ($4m x 4, i believe) to no longer be the coach! If so thats an even worse reflection on the franchise. Imagine blowing up an entire season over $16M ($$$ he pays one way or another). *Hate to see it* 😆
  8. Will 100% get roasted, HOWEVER, if Brady gets a HC job, I'm 100% bringing in McDaniels (a guy with a major chip on his shoulder) to run the offense. The dudes brilliant, but the team has turned on him. What he lacks in leadership, he can earn in respect with our guys. Also, there are plenty of coaches and even player coaches, set up as framework where he wouldnt have the same issues here. This job would look like a trip to DisneyLand with Josh running the offense. Also, I see him as a guy recognizing his ceiling and not wanting to leave a coordinator position for HC job, allowing us some continuity. Fangio (situation is how i picture McDaniels playing out) is a guy good enough at his job to warrant some tire kicking for HC again, but seems like a guy happy to be in the best role for him. Would absolutely love to have an offensive version of Fangio, controlling the offense and not having to sweat a new OC getting a HC job every year.
  9. Good call! ... just did LOL I might regret it, because that division is going to be a dogfight. Denver is going to force some foes to split series with too
  10. We should already be scrubbing up on executing it the way they do. Hell, start executing it that way in games right away. We can get good at it ourselves. Or We start executing it the same Offside/false start like they do during regular season.... now you got 2 teams doing it that way. More attention on it. Maybe they'll start calling it right once the fans moaning loud enough. If not we can at least match their energy.
  11. Hoecht IMO is going to be such a hugeeeeee add. We're missing his versatility, its going to be a key to this defense. It allows us to hide what we want to bring. Hes got juice rushing the passer, and very good in the run game (something we're going to need in playoffs so much)... Hey suspension is helping manage his load already
  12. 1. #1 Seed 2. Rack up some blow outs to help manage guys health & get the rookies extra start time, so they can hit the ground running for playoffs. On that 2nd note, I saw Deone Walker getting double teamed what felt like every snap he played AND hold strong against it! Dude turning into the defenses Spencer Brown would be so damn huge
  13. Amen, a short rest, September game in MIA heat would suck (its night game though, so atleast we wouldnt get literally cooked). Me thinks that locker room knows they stand no chance without a new coach, and are going to give a terrible effort. We should try and jump out 10-0 / 14-0, to cement that. Id love to get out with a W and be able to do some load management for starters
  14. Dudes a fish outta water there. Their GM should pack his bags too lol "We have a young coach struggling with leadership... LETS BRING IN JALEN RAMSEY!" (I know hes gone now, but that stands out symbolically to me) I feel bad for McDaniels. Hes clearly not cut out for this role, hes a playbook/playcall kinda guy, but they really fed him to the lions with setup for failure. Remember that one class you were in in HS, with all the ISS/Detention Magnet kids in it? And that day the really sweet soft spoken, usually lunch monitor came in as a substitute? Where they didnt give her a lesson plan? Yeah its that
  15. I was looking at this game yesterday, 2nd to last week, but what formerly wouldve been last week of the season. Its so important to lock up the 1 seed prior to that game IMO. I DO NOT want to have to play them right before playoffs, with a possible rematch, if we handle our biz this year. Absolutely crucial to be able to sit our guys that week fully, or roll them out for a 1st quarter only "stay sharp" only kinda game. Could be even bigger if we got to rest our guys/play vanilla, while getting a chance to see their starters while they need to win a game late!!! Thats far away, but handle our biz week to week, and this could potentially really pay off IMO
  16. Not gunna lie it spooked me with how alarmed he looked. For a brief moment I had some kinda Hamlin moment flashback. Anybody else? Probably a bit tense after seeing a popular news story video on Twitter earlier this week. Good sign to spend more free time here on TBD thsn that other app this week. Especially for Victory Monday!
  17. Smarttttt. Time to do the same with Bosa!
  18. ^^^ I said the same thing but not as well as this. Complaining Ed is out, I fully get, it sucks!!! Blaming them for a hard practice, when its football, is a bad take. I still prefer this approach to teams that let starters hit it hard in pre-season games!!!
  19. what will that look like in 2 years by comparison? What will the NFL salary cap look like next year? Or in 2 years? Its been 10+ years of Fan community getting sticker price shock, anytime somebody at any position, who is top 5, signs a new deal. 1. You need a QB 2. You need to protect a QB (more than LT) // You need to disrupt passing game. To me DE > LT, because one player can have much more effect than the other. Have a nasty LT? Pass rush LB can go to other side. Elite pass rush makes your DB's lives so much easier. DE is by far the 2nd most important position in the NFL. Salary cup is always going up. Next man up at a position is almost always going to reset the market.
  20. Ive said it a million times, injury bug bit us. Von was not some guy known to miss games at all, and was a fluke thing on the worst field (at the time) in the league. You know that Detroit and NYJ/NYJ field had (det-replaced it) & has (jets/giants till use) like a 20x rate of ACL injuries?? S*** bit us 2 times in like 3 weeks; thanksgiving and then Tre during a game we shouldnt have even been on that field, was moved because of a storm. Anywho, Beane assembled a SB caliber team, and that was the best we've ever seen the defense. Being afraid of random injuries is useless. Do you refuse to date a girl because she could get in a car accident and die? Do you walk to work everyday because cars can kill people? That was a good move/signing that likely delivers a Lombardi if a fluke injury or two doesnt happen. Winning a Chip absolutely has some luck involved. Some things you cant help... doesnt mean you throw away the dice and stop playing. You do what you can to increase your odds, and pray for the best. Defense was monstrous before that G*D* field in Detroit dry dogged our season in 2 games. Thank God its gone, and the NFL should shame Jets/Giants into getting rid of that field. Its like hosting a Ferrari race on a gravel track... except their are billions at stake, not hundreds of K's! Band together and refuse to play on it till fixed!!! Quit being cheap short term, at the expense of crazy long term consequences!!! NFLPA should weigh in too. State theyre all refusing to play on it.
  21. Ya know, I get it, obv were all pissed about this... but thats called hindsight. The defense and the team as a whole needs some hard practices. Not only early conditioning, but when you dont participate in pre-season, this is kinda what you're signing up for. Not the injury, but ya g2 make up the grind somewhere in the scedule. I cant believe im typing this, but maybe this is one of those "blessings" in disguise... where we have a weaker portion of the schedule coming up, and this can help us stay fresher later into the season / post season. Admittedly a glass half full post, but dang, what else can we especially as fans do?!
  22. If this is the case, hopefully the NFL is communicating this, and hopefully we learn to do this is a skill. Still angry at the early Chiefs playoff games where we were getting G*D* mugged at the line (DBs shoulda wore ski masks).... and then were out there playing with a different set of rules VOLUNTARILY. We need regular drills/practices where our DB's learn how to do this effectively, and teach our WR's how to run through it, show high effort to work through it --> as thats the only way youre possibly getting a flag. If you flop, give up, throw your hands in the air and look to the ref... help is NOT coming. Work on the correct optics/attitude to earn the catch or the call!!
  23. Man if this is the year he (Oliver) finally puts it all together and plays consistently like this... Id be shocked if we don't get our ring. Im not expecting his stat line has to consistently look like it did, or even that we need multiple huge splash plays outta him every game. Just need his to be a disruptive force and command attention from OC's. Imagining what that could do for the development of all the young guys around him, and Rousseau. Dudes been a plus player, but we've seen him struggle to close out plays with sacks. Big Ed could absolutely be the catalyst to help Groot really turn the corner and have a 12-15sack type season.
  24. Article Now THIIIIS is how you do journalism here. I stole and gave this its own post out of the Ty Dunne thread, because it was such an interesting read, deserving its own attention. First thing that jumped out, was how well buffalo managed to follow what this article laid out, with Josh. I mean damn, I have almost no doubt the Jets would've ruined Josh. Even before reading this I always suspected it, but especially after reading this. Think about it. No team picking a qb at the top of the board, could be picking the wrong guy as often as s they do! Even if you were actively trying to pick the wrong prospect on purpose... you'd eventually pick a good one. Arians mentions 'scars' its too bad those seem to be permanent, because we'd have a lot better parody in the NFL 'dumpster diving' for QB's behind teams like Chi, NYJ, and CLE. Last thing I noticed, Kevin O'Connell 's comments make a lot more sense seeing JJ McCarthy last night! I was thinking dudes on the verge of getting pulled. That pick 6 he stared down the WHOLE way, was making some awful reads & decisions. I dunno what that staff told JJ at halftime and after that rep... but dang he settled in nicely for end of 3rd and 4th quarter. Admittedly I was thinking BUST at half time... I thought dang, they got no evals on him from last season, and here they are starting year2 & season 1, with the next Zack Wilson. That's its going to take them an extra year to be able to move on BECAUSE of his injury. I was wrong last night, and falling to the same mistakes discussed in article. Really great piece I enjoyed the hell out of!!!
