  1. Good finish by the defense after giving up a couple of big plays. Now, come on offense.....put the first nail in the coffin right now!
  2. When our coaches watch tape of our opponents, sometimes I wonder what they are looking at. Last week, the Steelers killed the Jets with play action. I think most, if not all of Rodgers TDs and big throws came off play action. The Jets are doing the same thing this week.....attacking the LOS downhill. Play action would be killing them again yet we haven't seen one yet! I just don't understand the reluctance of Brady to use. it. Allen is statistically one of the very best off of it since he entered the league yet we very rarely use it under Brady. When we do, it works most of the time. Gotta use it more!
  3. I'd love a play action shot on first down, but I have been calling for it for years now and never get it with Brady calling plays. Someday...... maybe....
  4. While happy with the 7 points, there is a lot to clean up there. The WRs once again were blanketed. Allen was high on a throw. The line was OK, but had a couple miscues. Allen made a great decision to pull it down and run. He may have to do a lot more of that if the WRs can't break loose from man to man coverage. Cook was nice, though.
  5. Strange drive. Some good. Some bad. 7 points...... So, it was great in the end!
  6. Stay healthy. Play hard. Play smart. WIN! GO BILLS!!!!
  7. Some concerning names on the Inactive List for sure. Tre's up which hopefully is good, but if he takes the CB2 position and they want Strong to play the slot, that would be concerning. But, if they platoon Tre and Strong at CB2 and go with Lewis or someone else in the slot, that may be a bit better. But man, what we thought was going to be a position of depth on this team coming into the season is looking real shallow only 2 weeks into the season. We better come out with the mindset we have to score 30+ to win today because if they don't and they go back to their conservative dink and dunk offense like we saw for the first half last week, we could be in trouble. We can't let a team like this just hang around only needing a play or 2 to be in it. We need to push the envelope and force them to play catch-up the entire game. I feel good about the game if Fields is forced to throw the ball 28+ times, but if he doesn't have to, and they keep it close, it is going to get uncomfortable real quick with the injuries on defense.
  8. My moneyline bet on the Jets is in! We're good everyone! GO BILLS!
  9. After watching the All 22, Oliver was every bit as good, if not better, than you thought during the game. He was awesome. In fact, The defensive line as a whole wasn't terrible. Groot was fine. Oliver was dominant. And Bosa made some plays in that game you can kind of forget about because of other things that happened. But he was actually really good outside a couple of missteps on the read options by Jackson. That said, where things started falling apart, particularly in the run game, was on the back 7. Our LBs were a disaster in this game. They were getting blown off the ball. Couldn't disengage from blocks. And they were out of position all night when it came to the run fits. Rapp was AWFUL in this game. Not only was he out of position constantly, it looked like he was running with cement shoes on. SO SLOW..... Like, I honestly believe for as much of a step as he's lost the last couple years, Poyer is probably still faster. It was, by far, his worst game as a Bill. As for Bishop? He wasn't great, but he wasn't dreadful either. Of the 2 safeties, he was the best out there. But yeah.....this run game debacle is more on the LBs and Safeties than it was on the D-Line, although we could still very much benefit from a true dominant run stuffing 1 tech.
  10. Had to do a double take. Seriously thought that was McDermott in the photo for some reason. Anyway, I am all for getting better at punter. Hopefully this guy is better. As for all the other players they worked out, I am not sure what they are looking for specifically. Would have been nice to get Peppers in here as I think he would have immediately become the best Safety in the room, but alas it wasn't meant to be. At this point, I am all about Beane spending the next few weeks on the phone trying to find the most dominant run stuffing DT he can find. We may not need him for a bit, but we will need him for the Playoffs. So, Beane.....start shopping!
  11. I am just finishing the All 22 from this game. There is a lot to take out of it. But before I get into specifics in other threads, my biggest take away from this game is just how good Josh Allen was. For as good as you think he was watching the game, he was even better on tape. He was in total control. He was diagnosing the defense on a consistent basis better than I have ever seen him. We were wondering if the Baltimore defense just didn't play their best or if they were out of position, or whatever. Nope. They were good. They disguised their coverage. They were freaky athletic. Everything you would think they would be. If Baltimore was playing probably any other QB in the league, they would have probably dominated. But Allen was just on another level with his recognition and he put the ball in the perfect spot all night. He was terrific. So, yeah....the first watch was great. But for as good as everyone thought he was, he was even better. He has said his main focus this offseason was going to be working on recognizing defenses and what they are doing quicker to help him be more efficient. If the first game was any indication, he definitely improved. It will be interesting to see if it shows again this week against a defense he has sometimes had some issues with. Will be a great test to see where he his mentally in the game. The Jets seemed to play a lot of man to man coverage with an uptick in their blitzing against the Steelers. It's going to be a good test for not only Allen's mental processing, but also our WRs who still struggle to get open against man coverage.
  12. In a lot of ways, we are playing "Baltimore Light" this week. Very mobile QB that can hurt you with his legs. WRs that can get open. RBs that can break one. And a defense with some really good talent! Now, they are not nearly as good as Baltimore is at any of these positions hence the "Light" tag, but as a division foe, that always can always keep games closer than they should be at times. And, with a new coaching staff and only 1 game of tape out there, it may take a bit to figure out what they are doing on both sides of the ball. Honestly, I am shocked they scored as much as they did in week 1, but I am also surprised how many points they gave up as well. So, I think they are still a bit of an unknown quantity at this point. The fact is, though, we are a superior team in terms of talent and we have Josh Allen. Providing Brady doesn't force us to go back to our east/west dink and dunk offense with half of our throws at or behind the LOS and lets Allen do what he does best slinging the rock down the field, we should be able to handle business. Our defense has to be more fundamentally sound and even though they have a mobile QB, Fields is not in the same stratosphere of QB as Jackson is and we should be able to contain him. This should be a double digit win, but after the way our defense played against Baltimore, until they prove and show that they are better this year, I will never say a win, especially against a division opponent, is going to be easy.
  13. As I do every game, I place a moneyline bet on our opponent and a bunch of "easy to hit" props on their players. With my betting record, I basically guarantee a Bills win every week!
  14. They're not a good group overall. They didn't create any separation all night within the structure of the offense and it really took until the 4th quarter for them to make any plays of significance and even then, it was a lot of backyard football. That said, if Brady realizes that these WRs that are not fast, are not uber-athletic, and not equipped to run a dink and dunk offense with a bunch of east/west smoke screens, etc. and figures out where they can get open is in the intermediate parts of the field, then maybe they have a chance to do something. This needs to be a vertical offense. Not a horizontal offense. And at one point late in the first half, almost half of Allen's passes were listed is at or behind the LOS. That isn't acceptable when you have the best player on the planet at QB. LET JOSH BE JOSH and maybe these WRs will prove to be good enough. But, I fully expect a return back to the dink and dunk next week. It's just what Brady loves to do.
  15. Allen, Benford, Brown, Oliver, and maybe Bosa eventually. But it is really a short list. The Ravens really have no weaknesses in terms of their roster. Quite honestly, I have no idea how Allen did what he did to that defense last night. We won't see a better group until we run into this team in the Playoffs. They are a crazy talented team that is only going to get better throughout the year the more they play together.
  16. I never want to see injuries. And Bass has made a couple of great kicks for this team in the past. But man.....I don't need to see Bass kick for us again. Prater is not the long term answer, obviously. But what he is is a true professional. There's a reason he's over 40 and still kicking. He may not kick it as far as he used to. But I tell you what. When we signed him, I took a breath, and I never had a worry about him. I was confident that if we were able to keep his attempts under 45, they were going to go through. Maybe he can kick for us the rest of the season if contract situations allow it and then just find a different kicker next season.
  17. The first page of the final chapter was just written..... OFFENSE: Allen Coleman (2nd half) Palmer (4th quarter) Cook Hawes (I mean come on.....the dude was blocking guys all night and then makes one of the biggest plays of the game on a catch he juggled like 3 times) Prater (obviously.....what a pro. I don't need to see Bass kick for this team again. Prater is not the long term answer, but it was nice to not be extremely nervous for every kick tonight.) DEFENSE: Oliver Strong (For being a rookie under the brightest of lights, he didn't get mentioned much. Yes, WRs were running open at times, but I am not sure how many of those were on him until I watch the All 22. I reserve the right to remove him if the tape tells a different story. HA!) Bosa (Had a few good pressures, got fooled a couple times, but I think his presence really helped Oliver out tonight. OTHERS Harbaugh for punting the ball on their last possession instead of trying to win the game on 4th and 3. JOCK STRAPS McDermott and Babich (months to put together a game plan to at least slow Henry down but instead, barely touched him the entire game except for the great play by Big Ed at the end.) Whoever forgot to block Hamilton on the game winning FG. That was a fingertip away from being a complete disaster. Look....this was a wild game. Maybe the wildest regular season game ever? It's up there. There is a lot to learn and take out of this game and it's much better to take the lessons from a win than a loss. The defense was terrible outside of a couple of players and plays. The offense until sometime in the 2nd half was way too conservative as usual. I'm hoping if nothing else comes out of this game on offense, it shows Brady that we are at our best slinging the ball down the field and not the dinking and dunking he's been doing recently.......really since the Lions game last season. Allen wants to sling it. The WRs are more suited to make plays down the field. Are weapons just aren't fast enough or shifty enough to create separation off the line. But, what they can do is use their size to their advantage and when you give them some space, they can make plays. I'm not talking 40+ yards down the field, just in that intermediate 20-30 yard range. Allen is the best player in the world and when you reign him in and force him to throw east and west with unathletic and slower weapons, you are basically neutering him. Let Josh be Josh. Trust him to make the right plays down the field and then take off running if it's not there. I am not going to get started on the defense and McDermott. It would be a 5 page post. Obviously they have to be a lot better. Anyway, I don't want to bring the high down. It feels nice to be on the right side of one of these all-time great games for a change. Clean this stuff up and get better.
  18. Thank you for getting tripped up
  19. If that's the best 2 point play we have, we need to head back to the drawing board. Now, here comes the pain when they just bust one.....
  20. It's 1 foot...... tush push it twice if you need to.
  21. They had 2 spies on Allen on that 4th down....
  22. You just have to laugh sometimes.....
