  1. His mere presence on the gridiron is baiting to me. Perhaps he should be banned! It's funny how much I dislike him. I don't even dislike Gronk that much. I dislike the little man about as much as I disliked Spikes...until he came here! I learned the interpretation of that back during the Redskins heyday. Do you remember how many shifts Gibbs would run through before the snap? It was like a transformer folding itself into a vehicle, on EVERY down. They'd "shift" all backs/receivers almost every down and back then your lineman couldn't wiggle in their stance. It was quite the display of discipline by the Hogs.
  2. How about Skelton? LOL I'm glad we picked up the kid Vaughan. He looks like he has some physical skills to compete and a high ceiling to reach.
  3. NFL Europe did seem to develop some good players. It is that old adage about all the ships in the harbor rising with the tide. If you bring the level of play up at the bottom of the roster, it should have some impact on the top eventually, even if you aren't creating superstars. It could be a good boost to the talent pool, if it weren't for the terrible wear on their bodies...a guy playing in Europe would turn around and immediately show up at training camp for the NFL. With all the concern about injuries, especially concussions, I would not expect this to go over well. Besides, NFL Europe lost massive amounts of money. The NFL owners will never stomach that type of loss. I would like to see the NFL allow more off season, non-contact practice time - mini-camps, etc. The NFL product is dependent on QB's, so giving them more time with their skill players is in the best interest of the NFL. Maybe they could create an optional exemption for veteran QBs that could be negotiated in their contracts so guys like Manning and that other guy** aren't required to attend. More practice of the finer aspects of the game would certainly help the less experienced skill players beat the learning curve faster. I just read the bio about Vaughan. He was a Harlon Hill finalist (Heisman of D2). He threw for over 5000 yards...just in his senior year. It seems they got a copy of Manuel from the measurements - 6'4" 235 at his combine. He's fairly quick: 4.95 40 time. He's got a big arm according to scouts. Nice PS player. BTW, I can see his name going the way of Rhineholt in a hurry! Von Vaughn Vaun Vaghn Vaghan Vegan... you know.
  4. I cannot understand why we don't run play action boot with TT. We've got an athletic QB, we have an athletic pair of TE's. We have receivers with speed who can work from the backside of the play back across with the QB. To be honest, I thought they didn't show that week 1 so that it was saved up for week 2 against Beli**.
  5. This 100x over. They either have the worst producers ever or they are in cahoots.
  6. It seems to be an issue with his mechanics. It's like a little league pitcher who aims instead of throw. If you watch the replay, it appeared that Tyrod didn't follow throw and the throws sailed on both the throw to Clay and Watkins late.
  7. I don't think it is unusual for them to sell pumps. It is normal for sporting goods stores to sell pumps and even needles as an accessory to the footballs they sell. It's all about adding another sales avenue. I think it is just the irony that draws attention from the media, etc.
  8. Then maybe we can get two firsts for Mulligan. I was just watching some film analysis and noticed a funny thing on the Harvin TD. Indy was in Cover 2. Harvin runs the go pattern and Mulligan ran a 5 yard out from his inline TE spot. Safety stepped up to double Mulligan and allowed Harvin to operate one on one with the corner!
  9. Just in case you were still concerned about this matter... 6:09 in the 1st - Minn vs. SF Kaep requested and was granted a reset while standing in the huddle.
  10. Exactly - Bills player blocked the Colts player into Schmidt.
  11. Unless Solomon is calling the game...Buffalo Beeeells.
  12. I've been trying to come up with a witty way to express this idea. Chandler is the un-Gronk. After his TD, it was like everyone came around to tell him, "See, Scott...you can score TD's too. You're one of us now. etc." It was weird. Chandler is like Gronk's little, underachieving brother. You know, the boring one you have to tolerate because "mom" said Gronk has to help him get some friends too. Chandler is the inverse proportion of Gronk. Where Gronk runs a vertical, Gronk-1 runs a flat route short of the sticks. Did you see how Chandler almost managed to get stopped at the 6" line? I am not missing him at all. Clay is the real deal! I just hope Rex has a nice D for dealing with that Jumbo shift to 3-wide package.
  13. I think everyone is upset about something that happens quite regularly...After every play, the play clock gets reset to 40 seconds. Occasionally, something else happens (see below) which triggers a "reset" of the play clock. The reset is at the discretion of the referee who signals that reset with a "single-handed-raise-the-roof" motion. In the video, you see Brady** request such a reset by mimicking the signal (and generally whining like a baby). What is harder to detect is that the referee was making an announcement in the background. Collinsworth talks right over top of the officials announcement. That happens around 22 seconds on the play clock. Because the official makes an announcement - likely clarifying the ruling on the field of incomplete pass on the previous play - both teams are afforded the customary 25 seconds to plan for the next play. Hence the reset. I've seen many other quarterbacks do the same thing. This is a non-issue. When the play clock gets reset, it only goes to 25, just like in the videos everyone is sharing. The "extra 15 seconds" was no slight of hand. It was by the rules. Here are the rules from nfl.com: Time between plays will be 40 seconds from the end of a given play until the snap of the ball for the next play, or a 25-second interval after certain administrative stoppages and game delays
  14. They had their next good coach when Arians was running the team for Pagano...too bad they couldn't retain him.
  15. Butler was solid. Whichever scout brought him in needs a bonus! I love our depth, although Brooks and Rambo looked very poor on the TD. That's harder to fault than it seems. Luck had already faked out of slide once on the run. I'd rather have them be aggressive and draw a few flags.
  16. The reason it feels like a conspiracy is due to CBS's coverage. Their producers aren't fast enough with replays, so we can never see what happened with our own eyes. I'd love to see a few of those holding calls or Hughes' personal foul. I've always enjoyed coverage from the other networks over CBS, especially Fox.
  17. I used to have a weather app that would explain how comfortable outside activity would be. During the winter, with sub-zero temperatures and ripping winds, the app would describe outside activity as, "slightly uncomfortable." I would always read it to my kids as we went out to shovel snow!
  18. Me too. I'm worried about the back end of our D a little. We know A. Williams will be solid, but not having Searcy means Graham is forced to play safety and not available at corner. We could really use him at corner early on when our rookie gets tested. BTW, I'm predicting Darby to be better than Gillmore in 2 years. I would not be surprised to see McKelvin walk after this year even. They are drafting REALLY well and the coaching just brings the talent to a whole new level. Wouldn't that matchup drive you crazy...Bills vs. 'hawks...Our chance vs. Freddy's chance. It would be cool if the Pegulas still gave Freddy a ring if that ever happened.
  19. I wasn't through a full cup of coffee when I was reading the headline for the article on Freddie out of the The News Tribune by John McGrath. At first glance I thought it said, "Expected new Seahawk Fred Jackson is the anti-Christ!" My initial response was, "Wow! And I thought we had it bad with Sully's negativity!" If you haven't read the article, it's a nice read about a lot of fine characteristics which we have valued in Freddy for a long time. I'm glad to see him land with a successful franchise. I just hope we don't have to face off in the Super Bowl. You know Fred and Beastmode would make life difficult. Edit: Added link to article:
  20. Nice! Doug/Rex better hope we start 2-0 or there will be rioting.
  21. BTW, speaking of Freddy. I saw him playing punt coverage during Tuesday's practice. I thought that was interesting - an old vet playing Special Teams. He was the right "tight end" in the formation.
