  1. I would give Rex the chance to prove it early in the season. If I'm TP and I think I'm going to can Rex in the offseason, I also want to position the team in the draft. If it goes south in a hurry, I'd can Rex and tank the remainder of the season. If Roman won't oversee that operation - thus earning him a new QB through the draft - I would can him after the season and get an offensive coach to develop the newly drafted QB. I'd also make sure that the DC hired by the new HC would run a 3-4 scheme so I'm not retooling defense when I should be augmenting the offense around a young qb. Treatise is the new F5.
  2. The way Roman used Sammy this year, I don't think we need a bunch of burners like we did in the past. Sammy was our deep threat. It's a luxury to have Goodwin's speed, but he doesn't catch enough deep balls to justify the roster spot. We know he is next to useless in the short/medium range passing game. Hogan and Woods aren't exactly lumbering giants. I think Boykin adds nicely to the mix. Harvin is better on the deep ball, but he is a luxury due to his durability, which is another know on Goodwin.
  3. The Rush Limbaugh thing was interesting...I used to listen to him on the way home from work. Before all the news broke, you could actually hear his voice changing rapidly as his hearing degenerated. Once the news broke, it became apparent what the cause was. As for Mort, I hope that there isn't a private addiction angle to go along with the public reports of cancer. It is bad enough that he's dealing with a potentially fatal cancer. I think part of the reason for both the increase in reported incidences and the increased hope for a cure are linked to diagnostic frequency and symptom education. Testing is more precise and people are more likely to talk to their doctor about potential problems. I don't mean to say the problem is not worse. Cancer is always bad. But, I think we may be getting better at getting after it sooner than later.
  4. Chip's offense should shape up well with Hyde, Bush and Kap in the backfield. They also have large receivers - Boldin and T.Smith. They will need a little more help with defense, since they are still suffering from the mass exodus that occurred last off season.
  5. The big deal with Woods was his groin injury. I'm surprised the Bills haven't heard from the NFL on this. There were several injuries that came out this season that didn't appear to be reported on the weekly injury report. I expect Woods to bounce back next year, especially as he gets closer to contract time.
  6. No matter what, we can be assured of plenty DL talent in this draft. That's a good thing for us...maybe Doug should trade up! Dodd was outstanding Monday. Definitely used the platform to promote his abilities!
  7. That's good. We don't need more WR's that can't finish a year.
  8. Nope, not in college. Instead, they stop the clock to get the chains set after every first down. It balances out nicely but doesn't allow for commercials.
  9. I misunderstood the Subject. I thought this would be a poll for how much confidence I have in Schefter. I was here to vote ZERO!
  10. Interesting... Hmm, sounds like Manuel with a wrist injury. Maybe we should trade up!
  11. The refs also have a responsibility to keep players in line. He should have been ejected, either after the Brown hit or even earlier. BTW, Jeremy Hill is a class act. Check out his Twitter Feed: Jeremy Hill ‏@JeremyHill33 3h3 hours ago This ones on me... This city this organization deserves better only thing to do is continue to fight and come back stronger Um, from all appearances, in that moment, Burfict wanted to KILL him! After he realized how much trouble he might be in, he had a change of heart. The officials should have thrown a flag on that. At the very least, it was delay of game. It definitely warranted an unsportsmanlike conduct flag.
  12. he meant wood uv. He should stop sitting on his keyboard. It might break.
  13. I would go for a targeting penalty like they use in college. The hit by Burfict on Brown is a perfect example. That type of hit should result in an ejection. I can't stand to see that type of play anymore and I didn't even watch the Concussion movie yet! I think that type of thing is as bad as PEDs for the NFL. I nearly got sick watching the 2-3 replays CBS ran off. I turned to another channel. The solution to that dilemma is to give review power to the officials on a "targeting" penalty so they can make sure it fits the definition. They review so much stuff anyway, why not add an occasional review for a personal foul? According to the current rules. The OP is advocating for a rule change, not complaining about a misapplication of current rules.
  14. Check the timeline, dude. Whaley didn't make that call - good ol' Russ did with help from Buddy. Good thing Buddy retired!
  15. That's a great idea. They could call it "regionalization" and they could cover up the signs that say "New York's Collegiate Team" with signs that say "New York's Professional Team." I wonder if anyone has ever thought of doing this in any of the other cities near Buffalo?!? I can just imagine how the loyal Bills fans will love the lack of tailgating, the inadequate luxury suites, and a stadium which is far below NFL standards! Russ Brandon is a genius!!! hehehe
  16. Umm, you haven't read much on here have you? This is a long running joke which emerged during the bidding process. It is akin to F5 or dinner at Tempo's or Deers or Ground up and in the freezer. It is not a serious comment whatsoever.
  17. I wouldn't feel bad. Do you remember the game in Miami this year. Tanny had been knocked down so much, his uniform was so grass-stained it looked like he played for the Jets! That's what I want to see from the Bills' D on a weekly basis. AND if it can come at the expense of Saint Douggie, even better!
  18. Actually, that was Allen Iverson. Here's another powerful quote from the NBA: "We're going to turn this thing around 360 degrees!". I think it was Jason Kidd... Definitely a pre-Dirk Dallas Maverick.
  19. It never was about cap, it was always about cash. We were always strapped to a secret budget that had nothing to do with the salary cap. Being tight to the cap is not bad business per se. We made a push in FA last year. This year we have to adjust. This is "every year" territory for teams that contend regularly. Success drives up the cost of players. We'll get through. Don't worry.
  20. Maybe he's out of state and is dissatisfied with the wings he ordered. I remember my first "out-of-state" wing experience - breaded mini-drumsticks with no sauce! A disgrace. Can't the USDA or FDA do something about that type of abomination?? Vic thinks that this is a sure sign that Rex and Whaley are likely gone before the bye if they have not clinched a playoff berth yet.
  21. Just remember, Belli-boy and Carroll were both cast-off failures at one point. One of the greatest advantages they had was coming into organizations with very limited prior success. It allowed them to develop the organization gradually. Rex and others like him come into an organization that is pressing hard to get to the playoffs. Sometimes that pressure induces foolish decisions. This past season, we could look at several signings as indicators of that type of thinking. We signed Percy Harvin to a contract which he was unlikely to fulfill based on injury history alone. We paid Felton like the best FB in the NFL only to have him play a minority of the offensive snaps. These types of moves reflect the organizational desperation. You could even argue that they overpaid for a TE who is injury prone (although I am not critical of that move). On the other hand, it appears that the Bills have learned to divorce themselves from previous mistakes (demoting Manuel and trading Cassel are two prime examples). This is akin to NE benching Bledsoe after his recovery and Seattle ditching Flynn as soon as it was obvious that Wilson was the man. Last off season was entertaining. This off season will be much more educational. Back to the Bucs...I don't think they are tearing it down. I think they are going to go with Koetter and let him get a DC. Since they already are running with 43 personnel, perhaps they hire the Schwartz!? They are on the right track in the most important department - QB.
  22. No, just a coach who likes to BUY crab legs!
  23. What's incredible about Fitz is that MR.8-8 is Mr. 28 - That's how much he's been paid over the last 4 years - $28.25million. Not bad for Mr.8-8
  24. Interesting. Sounds about as plausible as that movie Wag the Dog...and then Clinton followed the script in real life! You know, the more I think about it, you might be onto something.
