  1. Definitely agree. I'd lean heavily toward the younger guys for similar reasons. As a long-suffering Bills fan, I can see Cassel leading us to the playoffs only to have his career ended like Kurt Warner's in that playoff game vs. NO. That was one of the scarier moments ever. The close ups of his face afterward were startling. Anyway...I digress...younger guys. I also really like Roman's creativity.
  2. Point taken...but my point remains, Bradham isn't exactly a QB expert. I understand TT's your guy because he went to VT. That's cool. I'm not rooting against him. He's our guy too. But so are a couple other guys who might start at QB this year. I'm looking forward to getting up to Training Camp to see them perform. Hopefully, one of the three can separate himself from the field in a possitive way. Exactly. I would even be careful about which receivers I listen to re: a QB. It is quite possible MW was released because of his poor relationship with Orton. A WR may try to curry favor with a QB, but ultimately find he had misplaced his confidence. Young receivers may be more prone to such naïveté.
  3. Your memory of the events is much clearer. My memories are kind of like the fog of a bad dream. "I know I'm mad at Lawson for a reason, but I can't remember them all!" I guess "lost the game" is a bit of hyperbole. IMO a defense has the responsibility to stop the other team from running it down their throat in crunch time (a la "43 is the Mike"). Good points re: offense/special teams. They certainly have a responsibility as well. I forgot how inept the coaching staff was on that drive from the 25. Although we know Bryce has a penchant for fumbling, I thought that particular turnover was just pure defensive excellence. I don't know that Fred wouldn't have lost that. I wish I could remember who they lost to later in the year on a similar play to the KC read option. Do you recall the other game where he missed contain on the read?
  4. I was interested until I saw that one of the two players cited was a linebacker. I know that we've lowered our level of expectations for "quarterback" expertise, but not that much. Let's wait for comments like this from Roman, etc.
  5. I'd love to see a 6-8 lineman try to guard an NBA PG. Can you see Cordy Glenn closing out on Steph Curry as he sidesteps and launches a corner three? I can just imagine the aftermath on the sideline. It would redefine the experience of front row seating!
  6. He lost us that game hands down. I remember two distinct runs by Charles where he over committed to contain the outside, but simultaneously went upfield, leaving a gaping hole between the gurad and tackle. Later in the season, another team ran the same play against him in a similar point in the game. We lost...I'm not a huge fan anymore. Perhaps it was our old DC forcing into the role. Perhaps we will be better off with him in a 3-4 scheme, but I'm a little worried. Actually, it was more than one play in more than one game. Although I agree that you can't measure everything based on a limited sample, you can begin to see emerging trends. You also have to account for coaching. It is quite possible the coaches were aware of this weakness and kept him from being exposed regularly. If this weakness is easy to see from a fan's vantage point, wouldn't the DC know about the issue?
  7. I think the Rooneys should be excited about giving up their home games since they think this is such a great idea. What franchise, othern than Jax, is so bad that their fanbase would be pleased to lose a game? The Raiders have been terrible, but their fans would be irate. Tampa?
  8. I cannot express my gratitude enough. This is how it should be done. Not only are you looking out for great quotes, but you are also looking to correct **errors. Kudos. 9-6 with the playoffs on the line, until they (the NFL) "Just give it to 'em**" in order to repay the kindness of Kraft** calling off the lawyers.
  9. Exactly...fake the zone read dive to the left guard, boot to the right. The slot receiver fakes the slant and then reverses against the flow of the play to the flag. Back side TE also comes across the formation at the back of endzone. Wilson can run, pass, or throw it away. At the goal line, in the SB, it rarely comes down to surprises. It comes down to execution. Carroll simply chose a play that gave Wilson fewer options. He allowed fewer of his players to execute better than their opponent and only forced one opponent (Butler) to execute supremely. Unfortunately, that one player got the job done. I'm not convinced that Wilson is the next Joe Montana, but I'd entrust him with options every time the game was on the line.
  10. I am not a part of the grammar police, but I will call you on your use of krafts*. I believe it is the official position of this board that it is necessary to use 2 asterisks in reference to kraft**, the pats** or brady**. For instance, we could write Lance******* or Bonds*^762. Some might debate whether Bonds deserves all 762 asterisks, but there is not debate that kraft**, brady**, and the pats** deserve AT LEAST two.
  11. eball - we are going to need to work out the proper grammar for Brady*. Wouldn't it be Brady*'s not Brady's* I don't want anything to separate Brady* from his misdeeds. Even a space between the y and * are unacceptable according to my thinking. This has to be the best off-season ever.
  12. I just saw this on Collins' twitter feed: One play. Three pancakes. Watch #70. If you have trouble finding the number, just look for bodies flying off an LSU blocker! https://v.cdn.vine.co/r/videos/BDA9D050571004979744179449856_1382579988633336845de7f.mp4_kCa6NZwPB32hAVFnhEoQ9ShXeL3TFKYqIdfUTnL2xYqX6hOX6uCa5FoHTESTdD2R.mp4?versionId=_XO40Pep7hMR155W57HdOKNnBFvcAnqV Man I hope we get him.
  13. I'll press F5 multiple times to make up for your mistaken notion. You are wrong my friend. F5 was made for the offseason. Press on. Press on.
  14. OK, we are already up to 20 21 pages...I have some important questions. (Went to 21 while I was typing!) What's the over/under on pages/threads for La'el Collins? Will this beat the Charles Clay episode? How soon do people start mangling his name? Lil' Colon...you know - Willie's little brother. Does anybody have a source for spare F5 keys for an HP laptop? I've always enjoyed the fresh "hope" of the offseason, but this year is off the charts. It is awfully fun to be a Bills fan.
  15. Actually, they gave 2 to get three according to Field Yates: Trade details: Patriots acquire picks 111, 147 and 202 in exchange for 96 and 219 (sent to Browns). According to the draft chart, the Browns only paid a 3.33% premium to get the trade. 120 vs 116.
  16. I've read other reports that state he cannot re-enter the draft because he was a Sr. with no eligibility remaining. It will be interesting to see if he gets to UDFA territory.
  17. I was thinking the same thing, but did the math. We are way short on "points" to do a trade into the third. Our value would only get us to pick 117 or 118 (in the fourth). I'm not so sure it would matter. The Bills PR people could come out and say they won't sign him until the legal stuff clears up. The Bills don't need a lot of 7th round bodies anymore. The only reason to conserve late draft picks would be to snag a plummeting Petty or similar player.
  18. If I'm a Fish fan (which could never happen...), I'd be getting pretty frustrated with being held hostage by this situation. They can't really make any other moves without surrendering Clay. OTC shows them at $142,937,353 for their top 51 players. They can't even sign their rookies on that number. I think the news about the money they ate on Ellerbe's deal shows their hand. We just need to be patient. We'll have Clay at the end of the day. We just don't know what day that is! The only thing we may miss out on in the meantime is a G. I don't see a lot of help in that department right now, so we should continue to be patient. I like Blalock, but I'm not sure there is a big difference between him and a 2nd Round Pick or another 2nd Tier FA G.
  19. I have a bad habit of only reading half of the subject. I understood the ALLCAPS until I finished reading. I'm all for cutting Tuel loose, but you've got to be kidding re: Schaub.
  20. I would guess that Stevie will have some nice games, but I'll take Hogan over the next few years. It's easy to forget that his combine numbers were outstanding. He also contributes to special teams. Lastly, Harvin is only on a 1 year deal. We could be back to Hogan at #3 in 2016. I'd be surprised if Stevie doesn't retire soon.
  21. I'm pretty sure that there were a good number of mock drafts showing Buffalo taking Borland. Imagine our shock if it was Preston Brown retiring instead!
  22. This ranks up there with "They are who we thought they were!" and "Practice!? You wanna talk about Practice!?"
  23. We need a new choice in the second question of the poll: Right after we set a Guinness Book of World Records mark for longest topic on a discussion board. One things for sure, we fans are dedicated!
  24. He must be pretty convinced. I read that he would owe significant money back to SF from his signing bonus. After 1 year in the league, I'm sure he's not sitting on a pile of cash. Even if he banked it all, the IRS got a bunch of it. I wonder how he'll afford the payment back to the 49ers. That was the big deal with Ricky Williams' un-retirement, IIRC. Miami went after his signing bonus.
