  1. I actually thought the article was pretty good...and I really didn't find it disrespectful to Ralph Wilson in the slightest. I think those who are finding it offensive in some way, are taking it out of context a bit. It is a far cry from the Toronto Star article posted the day Wilson passed away. Yeah, no offense mrags, but I think you are missing the point.
  2. I would have been much more surprised if that did not happen.
  3. While on the surface your comment seems full of cold truth...I think you are a little off. Sure, as you and Buffalo Barbarian point out, money is the ultimate factor, but why do you think Cleveland got another team, pretty quickly after losing the one they had? If fans there hadn't been as vocal and supportive of the Browns, and cried as loudly as they did when they left, would the NFL have been in such a hurry to appease them? If fans in the area demonstrate apathy about their team leaving, the league is much more likely to be apathetic toward the negative impact losing the team would have on the area. Sadly, one of the greatest champions small market teams had in the modern NFL just passed on. I think there are a lot more than you realize. Do we even know who owns about 2/3 of the teams in the NFL? As was pointed out, time and again, in the coverage of Mr Wilson's death, as opposed to the days of the "foolish club", most modern NFL owners are men who are investors in the NFL first..their NFL team is not normally their first business concern. As was said Ralph Wilson was a "sportsman"... to these other guys, their NFL team is just a hobby.
  4. According to NFL Network (live update at 5pm eastern), Ian Rappaport, the Bills are still interested in Jackson... fwiw.
  5. Good call... I love Boldin...not sure why I forgot him earlier. Only thing is, I can't stand the Harbaugh 49ers, so I am conflicted on him. Always thought the Cardinals and Ravens way undervalued him.
  6. Sorry.. the guy is an a-hole. People who drive around with hard-ons make the roads dangerous for everyone. Glad he wasn't seriously injured, and didn't injure anyone else...I will admit, I laughed my ass off when he sped out of control. Texas roads are full of a-holes in 4x4's that think they, and everyone else are invincible. Not sure about Florida, but in Texas, when it rains, even in the slightest, the roads get extra slick, as if they are coated in oil.. people should really just slow the !@#$ down sometimes. OItIt
  7. There have been guys in the past that I really liked (Favre, Elway)...but not so much anymore. Not sure why. I really can't think of any player I really like from another team. I suppose Cam Newton or P Manning would be the closest thing... but it is normally because, whenever he (Manning) is in a big game, I can't stand the opponant.
  8. Same here. Lets' not forget, despite his small-town roots, he made his mark in San Francisco. When I posted this originally, I was forgetting that this is "49ers Dynasty Week" on the NFL Network..perhaps that is the reason for the timing...it just struck me as odd. Maybe it really was coincidental.
  9. Is it me, or doesn't it seem kinda coincidental that this article pops up on the front page of NFL.COM, just two days after Ralph Wilson passes away? If it was another website, I might not be as suspicious to me. An article about Eddie DeBartolo Jr wanting back in the NFL, as an owner. http://www.nfl.com/n...right-situation
  10. It's that age-old adage, jeremy2020...I can say my father is an !@#$...but you say it, you'll be sorry!
  11. What's funny is, this article was linked on the front page of TBD, the very day Ralph Wilson died. It has been great to be able to come here and commiserate with other Bills fans. Coverage of Mr Wilson on the national perspective has pretty much centered around "where will they land"... seems like nobody on the national level expects the team to stay in Buffalo beyond 2020. I don't even know if I will be alive in 2020, but pondering the Bills plight is really hard for me. Ever since Toronto became part of the NFL equation, about 10 years ago, I have found mose Canadian sources on the subject to be disrespectful in regards to the Bills, Bills fans, and their owner.
  12. I am probably not understanding any of this correctly. But it almost sounds as though, while the lease keeps the Bills in Buffalo for another 7 years, it also kind of discourages any local ownership group from kicking the tires on the franchise, for at least a couple of years. Say, a year from now, Terry Pegula (just using him as an example) decides he is interested in buying the franchise...he has to wait until when? Now, worst case scenario (I am a Bills fan after all), the next 7 seasons go about the same as the last 15. How long will fans have to put up or shut up with that, all while having the immediate future of the team as murky as ever. Assuming the current NFL owners, collectively, are a bunch of greedy pricks, the closer to that 7 years for the sale, the better from their POV...if fan interest declines as the losses pile up, they can just say that the team wasn't getting the support any longer, and justify uprooting them...for wherever... Sorry, don't want to assume the worst... I don't know if my nerves can take another 4 or 5 years of wondering what the future fo the team is...I usually try to stay away from these threads...too depressing.
  13. Whaley drawing on his Pittsburhg connections. I like it. Was it Chan who stopped the scrimmages with Cleveland?
  14. In regards to Littman- this is what Bill Polian said, when asked about the teams structure with Ralphs' passing. Not sure if Polian just doesn't know, and assuming, but he never mentioned Russ Brandon.
  15. Great choice!
  16. I will be the first to admit, I have been critical of Mr Wilson over the years, but it is impossible for his passing to occur, and not acknoweldge him, and thank him for the memories, or, moreover, making the memories ours. With Jim Kelly ailing, and now this, I realize more and more how much the Buffalo Bills mean to me, they are home... thanks Mr Wilson!
  17. I see it as the internet equivalant of shaving your head in solidarity. Of course, I am already bald, so this is better!
  18. Holy cow...stepped away from my desk for a short lunch break...a friend texted be some media file I couldn't open..next text, he just said, "he was 95"...I knew it was Ralph right away...kinda shocked...sad days in Bills land.
  19. I was at that game, back when I was still a season ticket holder. I can tell you, the 1980-1982 seasons were pretty fantastic at Rich Stadium, but to this day, I swear, I have never been to a sporting event as loud as it was that day, when they introduced Kelly. My seats were right around the 50 yard line, but in the lower upper deck..it was shaking...only thing that was comperable was when the Bills broke the streak against the Dolphins on opening day of 1980. That whole game, that stadium was shaking, and there wasn't a doubt that the Bills were set at QB for the next 10 years. It has become so cliche now, but the guy really was just tough as nails, and you could see it from opening day. They only won 4 games that season, but they were in so many of them (coming off back to back 2-14 seasons), because of Jim. He was awesome....everything we hoped he would be... tough, a little cocky, fiery...man, I miss those years... some of my greatest sports memories of all.
  20. Agreed dib. I put it in the suggestion box, but we should change the header picture from Bruce Smith to Jim..and everyone should change their avatar to a picture of Jim Kelly...I see you got the memo!
  21. Big time, they count...one of my all-time favorite acts....one of my all-time favorite songs:
  22. Whether we want to acknowledge it or not, the "run-option" QB is becoming a big part of the game... of course, ideally, you want a QB who can do it all.
  23. Not sounding good. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/03/25/jim-kelly-needs-surgery-for-aggressive-spreading-cancer/
  24. I was pleasantly surprised by Pryor last season. I thought he looked really good at times.... Oakland may be one of the few teams more dysfunctional than the Bills over the last dozen years or so. I thought that would end with the passing of Al Davis, but they seem to be carrying on the tradition. Not sure how Pryor would fit into the Bills situation, but I wouldn't be upset to lose either Tuel or Lewis over him...and I like Lewis a lot. From some of the comments in this thread I am gathering a lot of people didn't really watch Pryor play last year. He is definitely a project, but he has a lot of athletic ability. I am all in on EJ Manuel, but I think Pryor may be a better athlete...definitely a more fluid runner. I will just say, I think Pryor could be a star player, if he landed in the right place...not sure if Buffalo would be the right place.
  25. Not for me. Up until a few years ago, I rarely missed a nationally broadcast NFL game... since I was about 10, long before Fantasy Football. You don't really even need to watch football to play FF. And, I have not wagered on a game in probably about 20 years...I just like the game. However, I am sure there is merit to what you say.
