  1. Darby slipped a little bit in the last 5 or 6 games this season, but I think he is already the best corner on this team. Gilmore has shown great improvement over the years, and he has good size, but one on one, I'd rather have Darby on the other teams best WR. I like Gilmore a lot, but I wouldn't put him in the elite category, whatever that is. I certainly hope they re-sign him, but how often does any corner live up to what their salary suggests, when they sign insane deals?
  2. Growing up in WNY, WXRL was the only place to hear "real" country music and bluegrass. I used to listen to him whenever I could. I hope WXRL survives. RIP Ramblin' Lou!
  3. I have heard said that he was like a linebacker playing Quarterback!
  4. Not a Dungy fan either...it has little to do with football, but more his stances on social issues. Epitomizes the hypocritical "good christian". For me, the list is: Jimmy Johnson
  5. One of my favorites!
  6. How many games would most cities (including Buffalo) sell out, with a losing team, knowing that in all likelihood, "their" team was packing up and moving at the end of the season? My personal opinion is that Kroenke wanted out because all the money he could make in LA, and there wasn't really anything St Louis Rams fans could do, that would have changed that. Fans are the last ones who should be blamed.
  7. I am so happy we still have the Bills, but watching that POS Jerry Jones talking about the "instrumental role" he played in the Rams moving to LA just made me really sick...it is another in a growing list of things that are really making me start to really hate the NFL. Blabbering on about the "great tradition of the Rams in LA"...!@#$ you NFL. Stan Kroenke is slime...
  8. While I am partial to Low, Station to Station is right up there for me as well...I can't pick just one...they are all great! Was listening to Diamond Dogs on the way to work... that was my favorite as a teenager...loved Hunky Dory, Lodger...damn...so much great stuff. After reading the endless tributes on Facebook (they should call it Wakebook) yesterday, it made me realize, as much as I loved that 70's stuff, I kind of lost track of his later stuff for a while. Gotta go back and catch up on the later stuff. The last two have been fantastic.
  9. Sorry, you are right...my memory not so great these days!
  10. In the HBO series "OZ", one of the administrators on the show (sorry can't remember the characters name) always had Bills stuff on his desk, or on the book-case behind him. The show was produced by native Buffalonian Tom Fontana. He was also, as I recall, a writer on "Hill Street Blues" way back in the day. I remember them often using city of Buffalo street names....I have a vauge memory of a big scene taking place at the intersection of Jefferson & Best..which, of course, was the location of the old Rockpile!
  11. I would say, perhaps other than Dylan in the 60's, no other artist in modern rock history (Beatles on) had as strong a slate of releases as Bowie had from 1970 to 1980. It started with "The Man Who Sold the World" through "Scary Monsters". Thirteen albums (remember when artists put out an album or two a year?), not a dud among them. His output during that decade kept up an incredible level of quality, and he never made the same album twice... I know, things were spotty after that, but his last few releases were really strong...the new one, as cliché as it sounds, is the best thing he has done since 1980, IMO. And I said that to somebody on Saturday... BTW- the new album, "Blackstar" was released on Friday, January 8th. Bowie's 69th birthday...a day he shared with Elvis! One of the true greats! His last video..."Lazarus". Pretty cryptic, in light of all this: http://youtu.be/y-JqH1M4Ya8
  12. I will be shocked if he retires...shocked I tell you!
  13. As much as the Bills offense improved (with more room for improvement), the defense fell off almost as dramatically. Still though, 15th in avg. points allowed by defense is not awful...the most important stat.
  14. If I recall, Dunne, who is a bit younger, covered the Packers, prior to coming to Buffalo. As the Packers have only been slightly ( ) more relevant than the Bills for the last 15 years or so, my guess is that he has much better contacts at this point, outside the normal BN circle of friends, on a more national level. He likely knows people nationally who have insiders at OBD, that the BN old guard (Sully, Gleason and Carruci) don't have ins with. My "in" at OBD is gone over the last two seasons, but my guess is that it is one of the old guard Bills front office people (like Scott Brechtold, as somebody suggested, or somebody along those lines) who has a good relationship with the old guard Buffalo News sports staff...particularly Carruci who has been there longer than anyone at this point, even minus his couple of seasons in Cleveland. As for "why" they are saying it? Who knows...but there is a lot of jealousy and pettiness that goes on in every work place. As for why VIc would report it? That is a good question...my guess is that, at this point, everyone wants to be first with everything, everyone wants to make news...I have no doubt that Carruci is under pressure to get scoops, or break news...it is how pretty much all of our media works now...story first, who cares if it is true!
  15. My favorite new show from 2015. Getting hard to keep up with them all though...
  16. The idea of Marrone going to Miami doesn't scare me as much as the idea of Schwartz going to Miami as DC. The Dolphins may not be a great team, but I would say they have under-achieved as much as they are not good. In other words, they have some talent on defense which hasn't produced consistently. Suh, who is their center-piece, is already familiar with Schwartz defense...I suspect Suh's game will be much improved in this scenario.
  17. We all expected, but nationally, it seemed like there were plenty out there who didn't see the Bills as "playoff caliber" just yet. Somebody probably started a hate thread every time somebody "dissed us". Maybe we are too close to it?
  18. Nobody wants to hear this...but cutting EJ won't save them anything...there is good (financial) reason to keep him around for the last year of his deal. Unless they get Drew Brees, or somebody else becomes available, they probably won't do a lot better in finding a back-up for Tyrod next season. Just sayin.... Mario (it appears) will be gone, Goodwin almost definitely, and very likely on Carpentr...the rest? You gotta pay somebody to play those positions.
  19. Perhaps it is just the bitter disappointment of the Bills season, but for the first time I can remember, I really don't care who wins. Gun to my head, I would have to say Cincinnati, KC or Carolina...the first two, because I feel some camaraderie with their fan bases, and they both kind of remind of better days for the Bills...Carolina, because I have always liked Cam Newton. The older I get, the more I hate other teams, than like other teams...just want the Bills to do something before I croak!
  20. The point when it set in that he didn't like the defense the new HC was intent on running, and he wasn't going to be on the team next season.
  21. Could be, but remember, Mario is said to prefer smaller, lower profile cities...he reportedly hated living in Houston. I am thinking Carolina makes a lot of sense, assuming they have the cap space for him. When Mario went off a few weeks ago (after the Redskins game I think..or was it Phily?) he made the first mention I heard from anyone about his salary...I actually believed him at the time, when he seemed to be inferring that he would take less, if he was winning somewhere...he really hates this defense...he was quick to add "I think this team can win, but I won't take a paycut, just to return to the same defense again". Forcing his way out, because he knows Rex isn't going anywhere, and neither is his defensive scheme.
  22. Even without Marios whining, and poor effort, it seemed a foregone conclusion that he would be a cap casualty, or at the very least, the Bills would ask him to restructure his deal, or take a pay cut. I think everyone who pays attention to these things, kind of saw that coming, after this season. Maybe that played a role in his drop off in effort? He didn't like the defense, and knew he wasn't going to get his money from the Bills, next season, so why go all out? A ****ty attitude to be sure, but I am not sure it wouldn't be the same with a lot of other guys...what a shame this whole thing is.
