That's a good list, and I wouldn't argue any of them (except maybe Shaq), but LeBron definitely belongs in the company of those players...Shaq was great, but could have been much better, and the Lakers could have won another trophy or two, if he had been more dedicated. Not sure how you measure that they were "all WAY better historically".

I think "Fantastic Lies" (the Duke Lacross piece) was pretty amazing as well. -
Topic of the day for Monday 6/20 Cleveland Cavs title
Buftex replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love the Braves....but the 1990 & 1991 Bills were our best bet to win something, post AFL Championships. With the way the NHL and NFL are set up, it almost seems like the NHL lends itself to franchise building more so than the NFL. It wasn't always that way, but the salary cap era NFL, the longer it goes on, seems to not be conducive toward long-term building. Part of the "parity" dream I suppose...so, in that sense, I agree, the Sabres franchise seems likelier to get Buffalo "off the schneid" -

ESPN 30 for 30 - O.J.: Made in America

It was important to show that in the documentary, because the guy who didn't really care to associate himself with the civil rights movement when things were going his way, had to cling to its' benefits to get away with murder. -
No, I didn't forget that...but his return to Cleveland, and ultimately, bringing them a championship, should be enough to shut up all his detractors...but I know sports hate is irrational, and dies hard. James could have easily gone from Miami, to New York, or LA... name a pro sports player who isn't a diva? James has grown up in public...I remember after game 4 of this series, after a big must win, James was being interviewed on the court by Craig Sager, who, somehow, was covering the very first finals game of his long NBA broadcast career...James took the whole interview to congratulate Sager, and wish him the best with his cancer recovery...Sager was tearing up the whole time... James has grown into a good guy. I guess I just don't see this "high stepping", "in your face" character that you are hating so much...I see a competitor

Yeah, I knew about Cam, was talking about LeBron. I think you are stretching a bit to say they are the same, and that Lebron "doesn't deserve it". It's okay to say you just don't like either of them, but come on...James is fantastic. If he has had any flaw in his game over the years, it has been a tendency to try too hard to get his teammates involved...he is the farthest thing from a "selfish player" as anyone could hope for these days, particularly for a guy who can pretty much do it all.

Sorry boyst, but i guess the only similarities of James and Newton (btw- when was in trouble with the law?) only left off that they are both black. All of the things you seem to hate these two guys for are subjective, and pretty much all common of modern athletes...not unique to the two of them...

You know I love you boyst...but this one of the worst posts ever...I an sorry that you (and others here) are so consumed by hatred for some players, that you can't appreciate how great they are, until it is over....I know you hate Cam, you pretty much always have...but to compare James to him is ludicrous, at this point. If any other player, in any sport, had made it to 7 championships in a row, win or lose, nobody would question their greatness. James is the best player the NBA has seen since Jordan, or arguably Kobe. Cam is just beginning to reach his potential...why not let it play out, before making ridiculous comparisons. To me, if I had to compare James to anyone in the NFL, it would be Payton. I can't remember feeling better about a championship, when I had no real horse in the race (I am a Celtics fan), than this Cavs championship. Nicely done....

All the Lebron haters: suck it!

Proving you know next to nothing about the NBA, Boyst.

I pretty much listen to it via the archive section, when I go to bed at night, so no big change for me.

ESPN 30 for 30 - O.J.: Made in America
Buftex replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have you ever watched other 30 for 30 documentaries? Most of them are about more than just sports. Keep in mind, there are about 6 more hours to go in this thing... obviously, this one isn't for you... personally, I thought it was excellent. To those complaining about the time spent on LAPD and things other than OJ, my hunch is that this is all setting us up for the final installments on how a man so guilty, got away with murder, and why opinions of his guilt (especially at the time) were so divided along racial lines. Obviously, we are all Bills fans, so Simpson is a huge part of our history...but as you heard one of Nicole's sisters mention last night "we weren't a "football family", so we didin't know who OJ Simpson was" when their sister started dating him. Without the homicide, as great a player as he was (and he really was), he would be remembered as one of many great old-timers. But Simpsons' story, because of the time and place it took place, is just that much more remarkable. The guy who didn't want to be associated with the civil rights movement while coming up, and things were good for him, had to reap whatever benefits that movement created to save his skin. And even though it was all pretty transparent, it was allowed to happen... -
John Clayton: Bills "Regressed" in the Offseason
Buftex replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope he is wrong...but it seems like we often "pooh-pooh" the national guys when they say anything negative about the Bills...and then, at the end of every season, it turns out they were mostly right...unless they were high on the Bills in the off-season! Wait and see... -

Texans release Brian Hoyer; signs with Bears
Buftex replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Take away that disastrous 5 minutes against Jacksonville (and I know, you can't), EJ really didn't play all that bad in those two games. It seems like people here think that the other 31 teams in the league have legit starting QB's at the #1 and #2 spots... -
"What People Look Like" and the Le Batard Show

That's not too hard to do...Cowherd is/was the worst national guy I think I have ever heard...hands down! -

Yes, the tapes were that bad. When you followed the stuff on tv, when it was live, it was sometimes hard to lose track of what the jury was hearing and not hearing in the court room. And, I am in no way trying to defend Mark Fuhrman...but his defenders at the time, as I remember, made the argument that Fuhrman had initiated his own re-hab, because he realized that his work as an officer had warped his perception of minorities. So, at the time of the Brown/Goldman murders, he had his issues under control...take that for what it is worth. I did watch the show, and I really liked some things about it. I think, maybe though, it tried to do too much... and it was a little uneven. Too many perspectives...I hated those scenes (and there were quite a few of them) where something would happen in the trial, and they would just show a bunch of black people in "the club", reacting... The strong suit of the show were when they focused on Clark, Darden and Cochran...and I'll say it....Davis Schwimmer was pretty good too. Side note: I read a recent interview with Marcia Clark (who I have always liked), and she said something pretty interesting about Robert Kardashian. She said that she could tell, early on the trial, that he had real doubts about OJ, and she had total empathy for him. She also said, she ran in to him about 3 times, after the trial, and before his death, and each time, he was incredibly cordial toward her...almost like he wanted to say "I am so sorry", without saying it.

NFL.com: Darby to have breakout season #1 corner on team
Buftex replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you...Darby was awesome most of 2015...he faded a little the last couple of games, but the entire defense was decimated with injury. Not a knock on Gilmore, and he may be the more prototypical "cover corner", but Darby really, really impressed me as much as any Bills rookie has in some time, at a very tough position to play in the NFL. Gilmore is pretty up and down... -

Not to say there aren't merits to the "who gives a !@#$" argument, but I grow increasingly aware, on TBD, of the age gaps between some of us...if I hadn't grown up during the OJ era of Bills football, I probably wouldn't care so much either...just as, for a long time, I didn't give a lot of thought to Cookie Gilchrist, because I was a bit too young to have actually seen him play...but to me, growing up in the 1970's, OJ Simpson is as a big a part of my experience as a Bills fan as the 4 Super Bowls, Doug Flutie, the 15 year drought...but the thing that made him stand out, everybody loved the player...it wasn't just Bills fans. -
There will always be detractors...if they don't win a championship, the record won't matter...go all the way, and they have a very legit claim!
