I am ashamed to say, I was pretty obsessed with this case at the time...used to set the VCR for 6 hours every day on Court TV (remember that!). Quite a bit of the Fuhrman tapes did make it out to the public...a lot made it to the public. The question was always how aware the jury was of some of this stuff. Many of the most dramatic moments didn't take place in front of the jury. But, and they alluded to it in a small way a time or two in the show, there was always a sense that the sequestered jury wasn't as sheltered as they were alleged to have been, from outside sources. Well...you know...FOX! Another thing: ESPN 30 for 30 OJ Simpson trailer: http://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/news/a43770/oj-made-in-america-trailer/ Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere... but this looks like it is going to be fantastic...trailer for the upcoming 7 hour ESPN 30 for 30, about OJ Simpson. Initially I had heard that it would spend a substantial amount of time on his years in Buffalo, but can't help but notice here, and on the FX series, the lack of references to the Bills, or the NFL. Almost as if the Bills are just a footnote in his story...oh well, looks pretty engrossing either way!

NFL Network on Tyrod: Bills won't pay him. Pay the man!
Buftex replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bingo! Whaley has pretty much said this over and over....if Tyrod shows consistency/improvement, they will be more than happy to pay him whatever the market is at the time...gotta earn it first. He has done a great job so far, but he isn't there just yet...let him get there. -
I think he would be better off going back to Jersey, personally. I am getting the sense, no matter who the QB is in Denver, they are going to have that "Super Bowl hangover" in effect... they have already lost some big, key, pieces... plus, I don't think it is necessarily a coincidence that Fitz had had his two best seasons in the NFL, with Chan Gailey as his boss...I hate the Jets as much as anyone, but I think they are a team on the rise...or at least one that will be pretty competitive next season...and they have some good pieces...Fitz isn't getting younger...why not wind down where you have had more success than anybody would have ever thought possible?

Rex Ryan: I won't be shocked if Ed Reed is HC in 5 years

Rex is not one to speak in hyperbole, so I would take this seriously. -
NFL Execs say Bills should get moving on new stadium
Buftex replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it ends in 2022...but wouldn't it take a good 5 years or so, to build a new stadium...no matter where it is? -
NFL Execs say Bills should get moving on new stadium
Buftex replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this was such a huge issue, doesn't it make sense that the NFL owners would have made future plans for a new stadium part of the criterion before approving the Pegulas, or whoever, to buy the Bills less than 2 years ago? Personally, I have a hunch that the Pegulas already have something in mind..they may have cooled their jets a little, when they realized how emotional an issue it would be for fans....like maybe Bills fans are more emotionally attached to the Ralph than they realized. I just find it hard to believe they wouldn't have anticipated this...and I have a hunch too, they (the Pegulas) will end up footing a significant part of the bill for a new stadium...they have invested way too much into the city of Buffalo (it seems to me...admittedly, not a businessman) to not have a plan in mind. -
Obama To Name Court Pick Today
Buftex replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So, essentially, McConnell is crying foul, saying that Obama is politicizing the Supreme Court nomination, and it isn't right, because Republicans said they were going to politicize this situation first... -
Are the Dolphins a concern for you?
Buftex replied to gr8billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Buffalo Bills? As for me, the seemingly universal notion that they are not to be feared kind of makes me fear them...the pack is often wrong.... -
I had seen them earlier in this millennium (2001 I think...) and it was pretty painful. I almost didn't go, but the venue they were playing at was offering dirt cheap tickets at the last minute...I got a ticket in the nose-bleeds for about $15...I kept reminding myself how much I loved that band back in the day, and there wouldn't likely be too many more opportunities to see them...so glad I did. When I saw them, Joan Jett opened up...she was great as an opening act!

Saw them last spring...they were awesome...and I have to tell you, I went in with very low expectations.

Florio has lost his mind with tweet about Taylor/Kap
Buftex replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From what Florio said, Kubiak really really liked Tyrod. Also, keep in mind, the Broncos had to know that there was a decent chance that Manning wouldn't play 16 games. If they traded for him (again not advocating it), one would presume, his value would be greater with 13 starts under his belt, and a very manageable contract. But, it is just fun speculation...in March... -
Florio has lost his mind with tweet about Taylor/Kap
Buftex replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, that was Florio's point too. He said that the Broncos wanted Taylor to be Mannings' back-up last season, more than they wanted Osweiller...so, one would assume, they still are pretty high on him. Again, in no way advocating a trade, but isn't it nice to have something that one of the "smart" teams wants? Of course, I would be curious as to what they might offer... -

Buftex replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you listen to Florio's radio show, when Osweiller signed that insane deal with the Texans, Florio floated out the notion that the Bills could be sitting on a gold-mine with Tyrod Taylor, as far as trade value goes. Florio thought/thinks that Taylors' value went through the roof with that Osweiller signing. -
Nigel Bradham's comments about Rex Ryan's defense
Buftex replied to gr8billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am giving Rex a chance to fix it (I don't really have a choice, do I?)...but I gotta say, it was a terrible coaching job by him. He deserves every bit of the criticism he has taken, IMO. An ascending team, they say, has "a window" to achieve something...by my estimation, Rex, the coach, shut that window on his team. He deserves credit for improving the offense (or at least putting together the personnel and coaching staff to improve it), but he blew it on the other end..the defense. Defense is supposed to be his thing...being a "player coach" is supposed to be his other thing. To me, he failed monumentally on both fronts. I heard/read somewhere in discussing Rex, a great comparison to Mike Tomlin. MT was a "Tampa 2" defensive co-ordinator...it was his trademark, what likely got him his head coaching job with the Steelers. Yet, when he got to the Steelers, he was bright enough to realize he didn't have the personnel on hand to run his defense, so he stuck with what had been successful for the franchise, for years, under LeBeau...eventually, as time passed, Tomlin converted the Steelers defense to his own model, but he didn't go all ham-fisted and try to force it on his team, at the cost of wins/losses...the bottom line for a head coach has to be doing whatever it takes to win. He took over an upper echelon defense, and honestly, blew it up. I am not one of those who believes that Mario Williams is done, has suddenly "hit the wall" of age, and has no use any more. You might argue that his attitude sucked (and it did), but I find it unacceptable that Rex, the player coach, couldn't get his most talented players on the same page, for an entire season...as losses piled up...he just did a poor job of reading his team. There was really no other reason, I think, that this wasn't a playoff team in 2015. And, the argument about the bar being high is kinda' flimsy too... if public perception set it high, Rex kept egging them on...as if saying something is going to be great will make it great, without doing all the leg-work necessary to ensure it actually turns out that way. I don't think anyone would have complained too much if the team dropped 5 spaces or so in defensive rankings...but they fell off the map under Rex's guidance...they went from being the teams' greatest reason for hope of a playoff season, to being, perhaps, one of its' biggest liabilities. There was just too much talent there to for them to mail in that performance. -

The overall lack of QB talent is killing the NFL
Buftex replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think there are fewer talented players at the QB position, it is more likely, they lack of QB talent is the result of the way QB's are developed in the modern era of football...there was a time, up through the mid-80's, where it was not uncommon for a first round draft pick QB to sit for 2 or 3 years before ever being given a shot at the starting job. Now, they just have to play... some are ready, most are not. Who knows how many talented QB's the NFL has missed out on, because of this. The relative decency of Tyrod Taylor only goes to show that time studying can pay off... -

Report: Broncos, Browns, Jets targeting Kaepernik in trade

Report: Broncos, Browns, Jets targeting Kaepernik in trade
Buftex replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Heard Florio this morning, talking about the insane deals for QB's in FA so far... he speculated how much the Broncos would give the Bills for Tyrod Taylor at this point...citing that the Broncos/Kubiak were very interested in Taylor last season, to back up Manning. Of course, I would not advocate this at all (I like Tyrod) but it was food for thought! I think EJ is about as good as we can hope for as a back-up in 2016, and he is relatively inexpensive. -
