Any chance that (Utah CB) Javelin Guidry's folks were hoping that he'd become a track & field guy?

... and almost every other track guy that tries to play football.

Have to admit that I haven't seen him play very much... but the scouting reports seem to describe a text book back-up quarterback... one that would be fine if he had to actually play a little bit. I'm thinking of a Chase Daniels type based on what I've read... and I think that Daniels has been a pretty successful backup NFL QB at a few stops now. My two cents.

Most guys don't seem to break in right from the draft... they hang around the league for a while... try out or join the practice roster for several teams... until a big break finally comes and they're ready to not perform like a rookie.

Happens to me on a weekly basis...

I see the Bills drafting the BPA in round 2 this year... with virtually no chance that said player would be a tight end though.

Exactly... putting all the Tampa Bay excitement aside for a minute... the Bucs do understand that they're not getting the 2010 Tom Brady right? Today, he's 10 times more famous than he was then... but roughly 50% of the player, I'd say.

I just can't believe that the Bills would cut Trent Murphy after patiently waiting almost 2 years for the pre-surgery player to show up. He'll get at least training camp and the pre-season games to prove that the end of last season wasn't a mirage. Like Poyer, he might even get extended.

The thing about an edge rusher that really worries me... they either figure out how to get to quarterback in the NFL right away... or they're basically going to be a bust. The undersized guys that get it done with pure speed (and bend) around the edge in college... well, it's a whole different thing when a quality NFL tackle gets his hands into you.

My Gawd... I sure hope that the Bills weren't offering Quinn anything even remotely approaching those dollars... and that term.

I'm not so bullish on the Dolphin's prospects as others on this board. Yesterday, they put some fresh lipstick on the pig... but you can't erase years of bad drafting, poor player development, a revolving door of coaches and extremely questionable management moves with one solid free agency swing. I think that it all starts with the ownership down in Miami... and they're not out of the woods yet.

The team is now far past the point where 7 or more drafted rookies can be incorporated into the active and practice rosters next season... I thought that the Bills would be using extra picks to move around in the draft... but they used them to get a legitimate established offensive star. I'm OK with that.
