In order to avoid disappointment, you might want to lower your expectations.

Any chance we trade back into the 2nd?
LabattBlue replied to Sweats's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wrong! Next years #1 is likely to be a top 10 pick. -
I agree with this. Prior to the draft, I was adamant that the Bills don't give up their 2019 1st in any trade up.

My pre-draft rankings of QB's was as follows... Mayfield Darnold . . Allen Rosen . . . . Rudolph Jackson The only way the Bills had any shot at Mayfield or Darnold was if the Browns took Allen #1, and one of Mayfield or Darnold slipped to the 4 slot or later. Rosen's concussions scare the heck out of me. I can only hope the Bills have a great QB coach who can turn Allen into an above average NFL QB. If Allen works out, Beane looks like a genius. If Allen busts, Beane probably gets fired. What I don't understand is the people who act like this is the worst pick of all-time. It's not as if the Bills used the #7 overall pick on a guy who should have been taken in the 3rd or 4th round.

I don't even want to think about the possibility that Pegula was the deciding factor in drafting Allen. This guy has refused to hire a President of Hockey Operations to run the hockey side of the Sabres, and he refuses to hire someone to fill a similar role with the Bills. I really hope that Beane makes the final call on all moves...F/A, draft, trades, roster.

RD 1, Pick 16: Tremaine Edmunds OLB - Virginia Tech
LabattBlue replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not sure whether Edmunds ends up as a MLB or OLB or a hybrid who lines up in different spots based on down and distance, but I love this trade up and selection. The Bills have needed an IMPACT player in the front 7 on defense for years now, and hopefully Edmunds becomes that guy. -
Would Allen have been there at 12?
LabattBlue replied to Awwufelloff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody knows if Allen would have been there at 12. Beane paid a stiff price to move up to 7 to get his guy, and as one of the talking heads statted yesterday morning when talking about moving up to draft a QB... If the QB ends up being successful, everyone forgets what you gave up to select him. If the QB fails, the GM probably loses his job. -
This has nothing to do with the players the Bills drafted yesterday... As someone who loves to watch the draft, yesterday morning, I was excited about watching Day 2 of the draft, knowing the Bills had 4 selections(2 in the 2nd & 2 in the 3rd). By the end of last night, those 4 selections became 1...at the end of the 3rd round. Really takes all the excitement out of Day 2, and makes Day 3 more interesting, with 4 selections.

Not mine, but thanks.

On Draft NIght, My Better Half...
LabattBlue replied to Golden Goat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been following the Bills since the late 60's. I can't remember people in WNY being so excited. We got invited to a draft party tonight. Should be fun. Hopefully after the trade-up tonight, the Bills still give us a reason to watch tomorrow. -

Draft Coverage ESPN Vs Fox/NFL Network
LabattBlue replied to Mopreme's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both networks will be guilty of this all weekend, but when will they learn that less is more. 4 and 5 man panels just end up with guys talking/screaming/laughing over each other. -
Draft Coverage ESPN Vs Fox/NFL Network
LabattBlue replied to Mopreme's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Im a big fan of Kiper/McShay. I like Mayock, but not a fan of Eisen. ESPN it is, and flip over to the NFLN during ESPN commercial breaks. -
...in what year? Not 2018.

Complete overreaction currently on the NFL Network re: comments made by a 16 year old kid. Casserly especially over the top. They're acting like Allen made the comments yesterday...not 6 years ago as a 16 year old teen. Billick says Allen would have to come into a locker room and apologize to everyone. Wow.

I'm beating a dead horse... After seeing the draft setup at Jerry's World, I don't understand why they couldn't push everything back further and allow viewing for another 15,000-20,000 fans. The area for the prospects and empty space behind that is very spacious, and would allow for the stage to be pushed back considerably. I just don't get the point of holding the draft in a massive stadium, and then leaving the majority of the seats empty.
