Nathan Peterman expected to start Sunday (per Adam Schefter)
JoeF replied to BillsFan4's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Vic Fangio vs. Nate Peterman.....think about that. One of the best defensive strategists in the NFL versus a QB who is not decisive, locks on to primary receivers and forces the ball with a substandard arm. This has all the makings of an epic blowout. -
WR Bruce Ellington released by Texans
JoeF replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ray Ray could make it to the practice squad. This would be another step up in quality. Not that it matters...there is no one right now to get any of our receivers the ball. -
I think it was against the Titans on the "Corey only" fake field goal...he spent half-time on the field trying to determine if he could catch punt and placement snaps and was really struggling with his shoulder. I bet it never got better and had something to do with the bobbled and dropped snaps. He got hit harder than a punter should.

According to my insider at OBD, the real reason they are re-signing Schmidt is that Corey Bojorquez is starting at QB on Sunday. It was down to he and Peterman and they chose the highest QB rating.

Brandon Beane deserves to be fired tomorrow
JoeF replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Matt Milano, Taron Johnson, getting Shaq Lawson to play to his potential, Tre De, Harrison Phillips, the development of Tremaine Edmunds in a short period of time, Poyer, Hyde, Getting Kyle Williams to buy in; Star took a lot of crap at the beginning of the year but he is a fit; Jordan Phillips appears to be a find. This D building took a season and a half. The Offense is a ***** show. No doubt. The line sucks; there is no skill position talent and the best QB on the team (by far) has an elbow injury and hasn't played the last 9 quarters. However, McBeane can find talent and build. They have already proven it on the D side of the ball and that was their first focus. They said it when they were hired-- build the D and fix the cap issues. They are working that plan. Poyer, Star, Murphy and Hyde weren't exactly tier-1 free agents. They fit the D plan and the Bills didn't really overpay in my opinion. All had other offers. Murphy: https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/redskins/free-agency-looming-redskins-offer-contract-trent-murphy-sources Star: https://www.catscratchreader.com/2018/3/5/17075718/is-nfl-carolina-panthers-defensive-tackle-star-lotulelei-worth-4-years-40-million Give them a chance on building the O this offseason and next. I agree that their track record thus far on O sucks. Specifically, they could have addressed the QB mentor issue and WR and did not. They could have fired the OLine coach, brought in a real QB Coach and done more of a deeper dive on the OC position. However, in my opinion, the biggest weakness, the O-line, was not their doing. Wood and Richie's situations were unique and there was no real way to replace them. Terry and Kim have bought into the plan. We are stuck with them for 2 more seasons whether we want them or not. You can come here to whine and complain...you can call WGR....you can write your congressional member...but changing out plans every two years is insane and a path to nowhere. Calling for their heads right now is just frustrating yourself. It ain't gonna happen. You'd be mentally happier not watching for the rest of this season and next. -
Pats suspending Josh Gordon for 1st quarter for tardiness

If they really wanted to get to him make him play in the Bills offense for the game. -
Bills Being Very Active approaching Trade Deadline?
JoeF replied to Halloween Land's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With all the Bills cap space next year, it would not be an outrageous idea to go after someone they have their eye on in FA whose deal expires at the end of the year or who is in year 2 or 3 of a five year deal and is not panning out for his current team. Tate for example is a $3.5 million rental for the rest of the year but the Bills have room to sign him to a large contract in the offseason. I would call the Broncos about Matt Paradis and the Cardinals about Mike Iupati. Both on expiring contracts. Both better than what we have. I would only make these two deals if the player agrees to an extension. Start Free Agency now. -

Terrelle Pryor in Buffalo! Update: He's signing!
JoeF replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think last week's realization from Coach that Peterman was only to be used in an emergency was the final nail in that coffin. The bye is coming and we want 3. #1 If I had hair, I would definitely do this with it. #2 huge hands #3 I have always been a TP fanboy...would love this. -

Bet he's already trading tickets for tattoos..... Cheektowaga Chad, I hope the QB is better than Peterman... ? Maybe Gary Marangi is coming back... -

Corrected. He instantly reinserted himself as the starter. Sent Baker an edible arrangement as a consolation.

Theory about Raiders/Gruden
JoeF replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We'll be thanking Chuckie in April after the Bills finish 2-14 and Oakland eeks out 5 wins and then trades us 2 #1's and a high #2 and a high #3 to draft Herbert. Their wins will be ARI, SF, At Home against DEN and an upset... -
Did you have "Hausch money" missing an extra point or kicking two field goals? I am going with 63 if its 9 touchdowns.

I think the bet is really on Allen. The strategy is clearly to have the money and picks to build around him so he has the weapons if he becomes a top 12 QB (top 12 because that's how many teams make the playoffs) in the league. Most posters seem to have very little confidence Allen will develop. I still believe he will. I keep remembering that he couldn't hit a screen pass when OTAs and training camp opened in 3 months he developed touch on these plays. From my uneducated eye, what he lacks now are two things. He has little or no ability to adjust pre-snap and he doesn't read the entire field. I think we will see progress in both areas when he hits the field again after the bye. If he can progress in these areas with the talent around him on the current team, imagine what he will do with lineman that hold their blocks for a half or full second longer and receivers that get separation... Its way too early to write Allen off and Beane and McD are here for at least 3 and more likely 5 years. There is no quick and easy fix for where the Bills were from 2000-2017. We fans got a gift last year -- probably so we would be able to tolerate a putrid 2108 and a little bit better than putrid 2019. I am still optimistic.

How and Why The Bills Could Win Monday Night
JoeF replied to Kevin1778's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am going to channel my inner Gregg Williams for a moment. Edmunds holds up Gronk at the line and Tre De gets a free shot....that would constitute a small win for me on this one. A larger win would be to ***** them up for the rest of the season. I know its not very sporting, but its the Patriots and the Bills suck this year. The worthwhile thing would be to have the Pats leave New Era in no condition physically to compete for a title. It also sends a message that even though the Bills are a doormat this year..that when we get good -- that good is going to come with an attitude. Now back to being the nice, benevolent individual that I am.
