  1. The problem with a draft class like this is our 1st round pick was a QB hand picked to be a franchise QB. EJ has looked very good at times but still looked very much like a rookie QB. Even the game winning drive he led vs Carolina.. He got the headlines, but what did he REALLY do?? 2 checkdowns caught and with solid YAC and even Stevie's catch for 12 or 13 was sorta a checkdown "safe" pass. The one play that could have KILLED us was his checkdown to Freddy in Panthers territory with clock well under a min and freddy fully covered for a small loss. If Freddy didnt drop ball (on purpose, brilliant play that doesnt show in stat sheet) that probably would have cost us game. Would have killed 15-20 seconds and whole drive wouldnt have gotten rushed and probably not executed. A HUGE PI penalty that nulified an int ( I think Stevie would have had a play on ball, but it was into triple coverage and good chance the ball still could have gotten picked or at least knocked down negating a big gain via penalty yards and most importantly, STOPPING CLOCK! EJ was actually looking his best when he got hurt... Had a couple of gorgeous throws that he finally STEPPED into and showed great mobility getting that big gain on ground but didnt get out of bounds and took hit he had no business taking. If it was dirty hit or not, i personally dont think it was, EJ just got hit in wrong spot and bounced off guy akwardly which led to injury. His progress is stunted right now not being on field but hopefully he gains new insight into watching the game from press box and sitting next to Hackett like Thad did and can REALLY understand the details and be able to see the other routes other than #1 or 2 option on play and can learn by watching when guys are opened, he has to scan entire field and when you are thrown into fire like EJ was, watching a game on tape and watching live from press box when u are NOT on field allows u to see a lot more, and see little things he wouldnt be able to on field. This draft class will no matter what be a great class. Kiko is a beast and should be ROY on D and be a cog for years to come. If our O was more wide open and with offense that wasnt called rather vanilla due to inexperience at QB. (Still think Hackett is doing a much better job than given credit for. He understands situation, we are a defensive team, with a great running name and dont want to put too much on the QB where he can LOSE us game. I think Hackett will make big strides in year 2 where EJ will have full offseason and a season under belt. Woods is real deal and will give Stevie a run for who the #1 guy is next yr. Goodwin is never gonna be an every down WR but is a great deep threat and should be given at least 1 WR screen and a reverse a game. With kickoffs being so hard to return nowadays with so many sailing OOB, he needs a few touches per game. If EJ shows some improvement when he comes back then this would be excellent top end draft class but with next yr's crop of CB;s coming out which includes some REALLY big time prospects especially if some of the 3rd yr sophmores come out like Hundley, Marriota (my personal fav and think he would be a PERFECT QB for Marrone and Hackett but will never happen cuz of EJ pick). I personally love EJ and think if his footwork gets better he can be a great QB. However, if we were patient and waited another yr, we would have had a SLEW of guys to pick from. Hopefully EJ makes Marrone and FO look like geniuses ! GO BILLS!
  2. Moore... Coming out of VT i too was thinking we would turn out to be a Von Miller type player... Never seemed to fit in and got mauled on runs..
  3. Same thing.. Those LSU LB's were just sooooo dominant in college and he seemed like a phenominal value as a 3rd round pick coming from a D that was insanely good. I remember at National championship game that next yr when him and Dareus were on pre-game show for Bama vs LSU and saying, Wow, it sure will be nice future of D with these 2 guys. I still love Dareus and think he is alot more effective than some. I think biggest issue with Dareus is he went 3rd overall in a draft where top end guys have really blossomed. If we had respectable records, he would be much better known.
  4. We won a TOUGH division game on road which has been a RARITY for numerous years with a 4th string QB and our 2 best weapons on O, our RB;s both hobbled. Considering the situation, and CJ being completely ineffective and NEEDS to rest the ankle cuz he game is so reliant on cut backs and just cant burst off those cuts and doesnt trust the ankle. Freddy is more a between tackles runner and his injury is easier to play with and has more heart than i think ANY player out there, on BOTH teams every single week. Yet, he is not as effective as he could be. Stevie was banged up and dolphins have a very solid D. I'm extremely happy with an "ugly" win. We have lost too many of these ugly games to complain about ANY win! Granted the Phins didnt have their "A" game yesterday, but a division win on road is CRUCIAL and huge building block.
  5. We sure will need Gilmore to play and excel this week vs Saints. I'd love to see him healthy with McLuvin as #2 Robey in slot and Brooks as #4 and Williams back to where he BELONGS... at SS. Williams got burned in the same fashion Flash Goodwin blew past coverage vs Cinci. No player should EVER get behind the secondary in a situation like that at end of game. Hartline also does not possess Goodwin's speed and for him to have about 5 yards on Williams on that 2nd down play on final drive was inexcusable. If Tannenhill doesnt overthrow him by alot, this would be the play the whole board would be flipping out about today. He;s shown to have good cover skills, but is more suited for SS covering either a TE or in the box. He's a big boy, a very good tackler and will probably get the task of covering Jimmy Graham this week. Pats used a CB in Talib who is also a "big corner" to cover TE and Williams has best skill set between tackling and coverage on bigger guys to draw the task.
  6. He had hit then tried staying up but knee hit, still contact made by tackler so he SHOULD have been stopped at 33. Thats a HUGE missed call and very easily could have cost us the game. With no timeouts, and an extra 13 yards which is 1 nice pass play with guy getting out of bounds. Phins basically only need about 15-20 yards rather than over 30 to get into FG range. Obviously, in hindsight, it doesnt matter cuz we won but i was cursing at screen and couldnt believe replay official didnt take look at it. We escaped with a win which is huge for team after losing last 2 in heartbreaking fashion.
  7. This was Mario's game. He played at a different level in 4th quarter and has a beast among men. With way passing game was going with dink and dunk. If Miami evens HAS to punt and put us with like 2 min or so and less than all timeouts cuz we would have had to use them all if dolphins had gotten just 1 more 1st down. No way does Thad drive us down field to pick up GW drive with way he looked yesterday. He was a true game mananger strategy yesterday. Running game was awful even though the yards we got, were hard earned earned vs a stout D missing their MLB who is a stud. Mario set the drive up that even if we dont get 1st down, it was still a very makeable pick for a guy who hasnt missed since his 1st pick of yr and it would have been well low 40's if Fred doesnt pick up first down.
  8. LOL, the second i sw this thread, i knew that would be the first comment! LMAO!! Why not get a 2nd and 3rd!?!?!?
  9. Not only is Tannenhill getting sacked a ton, its not like they have just 1 game they struggled in pass protection. EVERY game this yr he has a minimum of 4 sacks. Teams have been getting to him every week. If we can get pressure and win turnover battle we will win this game. MUST stop run EARLY cuz Dolphins are very quick to trigger to just abandon it completely. If we can get early lead and shut rushing attack down, Williams, Hughes, Kyle and Marcel will feast on him. Dont need to over blitz today. I expect to see them try and copy what Cinci did to us that torched us, throw WR screens. We must not get creamed on those plays.
  10. Can the DL get pressure??? Mario has 8.5 sacks, Hughes has 2, Kyle has 2.5 and Dareus has 4?? These are our 4 main pass rushers in passing situation. Branch or Bryant tends to be off field in those situations... On top of the sacks, they have all have solid ammounts of QB pressures as well. How can u say they FINALLY show up??? Cant get pressure on EVERY single play!
  11. Oh my g-d... i really hope u are kidding??? This thread is a bit over the top... Spreading the love for Freddie... Yes... is he a top 10 RB???? NO CHANCE!! Be realistic guys...And if he played longer he would be a FIRST BALLOT HOF????? Fred is a solid RB and a great complement to CJ when CJ is healthy. He does everything pretty well but is excellent at nothing. Great teammate and great leader and a guy ANY Football team should want to have on their roster but he is not a game changer.
  12. Tannenhill is getting sacked at very high rate..Martin's a big boy, but gets beat clean way too often and lacks that mean streak u would want from a highly drafted Tackle. I'm thinking same thing. We do move Mario around alot and having Hughes rushing on other side vs Martin would still be advantage. This way Tannenhill SEES the pressure coming and either rushes his throw or trie to roll other way where Hughes can finish him off. Hughes has played his best 2 games as a Bill last 2 weeks. Hoping it continues!
  13. Considering its highly unlikely we draft a QB again next yr after just 1 yr of EJ even though this IS the QB class we should have drafted from and waited a yr. Dont get me wrong, I love EJ, but this class is beyond loaded. On O, i dont see FO to focus much on WR or RB as we are 3 deep at RB and guys like Woods and Goodwin will be in yr 2 along with Stevie. TJ AKA Featherstone from Necessary Roughness is awful even tho he had his ONLY god game as pro last week. TE is such a critical position nowadays in pass happy league. Chandler makes a play here and there but his skill set is below average, hands are average at best, has great size, but zero speed and is average blocker. He would be much better suited as a TE2 in those sets. Eric Embron is a BEAST. Better all around TE than Eifert was at Notre Dame and will most likely be top TE on board if he declares which all signs point toward he will. Having 2 TE;s on field together especially when you are a team that likes to run the ball is key. He would be great on play fakes on 3rd and short and QB rolls and throws quick pass to TE to pick up 5 or so yards. This is a role Chandler has often struggled with. He seems to make a play or 2 here and there downfield and gets a catch or 2 over the middle but has no speed and has trouble catching balls that are low. He's not a TE that can line up out wide either and catch a slant like guys like Gates, Graham etc.. Embron would be EJ's BEST friend! EJ loves check downs and having a good TE who can gain YAC is critical for checkdowns other than to RB;s. For years we have lacked a versatile talent at TE or even WR. Our WR corp has upside, but not 1 of those guys "scare" a D in preparation for a matchup with us. It would be so nice to have a TE who can do everything. I've been following this kid since last yr when i was watching a game vs NC and watched most his games this yr, namely yesterday vs The U... Caught 8 for almost 200 yards.... Thats the kind of yardage Chandler doesnt even rack up in 4 games!
  14. And now he's back there and played really well when he came in for Wilson in blowout and we would not have had the QB carousel if we have kept him and not wasted time on Kolb who was an injury waiting to happen. I thought it was a smart move to re-sign Jackson. Even if Kolb were healthy, he is a totally diff style of QB that EJ is. Jackson has the scrambling ability which obviously, this coaching staff values heavily with going with Thad and all the guys they brought in initially after EJ went down, White, Dixon who is now on P.S. and went with Thad over Tuel and all the above because of his scrambling ability. We would have had EJ as QB1 and Tuel as QB and probably would have came out of the Cleveland game with a win with Jackson over Tuel to finish that game. I liked what i saw from Thad last week , but we had the perfect backup QB RE-SIGNED in offseason and chose the WRONG guy in Kolb. Jackson easily would have been totally cool as a back-up and help rook along and has a similar skill set to EJ, Thad and would not have had to change O for him coming in. He had plenty of game experience in career and would not have look "star struck" by moment as Tuel did and cost us a game that the team fought extremely hard for on prime-time vs Browns and we never would have had this rediculous influx of signings and workouts for the slew of QB's in past 2 weeks.
  15. The better option has already taken his place. Legursky is 100 times better and them calling up Asper is also an improvement. Brown was beyond awful and does not deserve a roster spot. This coaching staff is direct and to the point. If u do not perform, we dont need u... I know it feels like Bills fans say this EVERY year, but i REALLY can not wait till yr 2 of this regime. Once EJ has full offseason of being an NFL QB. Hopefully we gets 3-4 starts at end of yr. The D is a totally different D without very many "new faces". By adding Kiko, we fixed the biggest need on this D for last decade. An every down LB that is a total beast. This is best draft class we have had in long time and I think they didnt spend big in FA cuz they knew it was gonna take at least a yr and this offseason may be very different. Hopefully we can have another strong draft and make 2-3 good FA pickups and this will be a playoff team next yr.
  16. Once Gilmore's hand is strong enough to remove cast and play normally, between him and Mcluvin as corners, Byrd and Williams at safeties, Mario and both DT's and even Branch in looking very serviceable in his role and with Kiko leading the LB corp. Too bad Lawson got hurt in game, cuz with him and Kiko on field in nickel situations, LB is actually a strength... This is a D to reckon with. Only thing that really bothered me about Thad;s start is when play broke down and looked to run, he was far too indecisive and looked like he was over thinking it and those extra split seconds he hesitated cost us a few first downs when he had clear path and if he just took off and ran, would have had 7-10 yards each time and ended up gaining next to nothing. The fumble was really bad too and hopefully when they go over the tape he sees how indecisive he was with the runs and fixes that for next week. This arm looked good and would have been an even better game with Stevie in there. Just having him on field would have pulled Hall off Woods and we could have had a good game. Thad had a couple of EJ throws when he threw ball way to hard and ball footwork on short throws. Those are so important to complete especially with alot of those balls being thrown to track stars who are not known for top notch hands (not including Woods). TJ and Marquise should each get a least a bubble screen or reverse once or twice a game. Those 2 have to get ball in space and TJ has a ton of trouble catching the ball cleanly. Even after his best game of the yr, If Stevie is back, they have to have Woods, not Graham in on 2 WR looks and Goodwin with 3 WR sets. Woods has best hands on team and Stevie would look real good in slot with Goodwin back. Having him back is huge for O cuz we really lacked that kind of weapon. I'll be at the game this week in Bills gear on Bills sideline at 45 yd line as i live in S. Fla and am really hoping we pull this one out. I HATE the "walk of shame" after the game in we lose to Fins! GO BILLS!
  17. EJ's is on box with Hackett as Thad did .. smart move , charting D's and hearing play calling live
  18. Wow.. for a guy who bounced around all offseason... Carpenter is MONEY....
  19. cant fault Mcluvin there. Tip the hat to AJ, only him on Megatron can make that catch
  20. So true... back then, throwing for over 3000 yards was very good. Now, its nothing... Stat wise, Fitzy's numbers were up there with some of Kelly's better years! This is such a pass happy league now and its normal for QB's to throw about 40 passes a game. It is nice to see the Sacks from Mario. Not just Mario though, Dareus is playing extremely well and having his best yr as a pro. Kyle is still making plays and has 2 sacks to go with it. And past 2 weeks, Hughes has really shown. We have been getting pressure on QB from alot of diff players which makes OL assignments that much tougher knowing they can not just key on Mario. Hopefully, the sacks lead to W's... The sack record is too early to tell yet as many have mentioned they do come in bunches.
  21. Love the optimism!!! i'm thinking more like 23-17 Bills. Dont matter tho, a win is a win... GET ER' DONE!! 3-3!! GO BILLS!
