  1. Hitting the deep balls is gonna be crucial to EJ's development. We have some major speed at WR and EJ has to lead them on the throws so they can go get 'em. The key to the deep ball is throwing it earlier so the ball doesnt have to go as far and its easier to lead WR. Tuel TD pass to Flash is perfect example. He threw that ball WAY earlier than all his other long pass attempts and gave Goodwin room to run under the ball and simply out run the DB;s NOT go for a jump ball and even if caught, hes tackled right away. Underthrowing deep balls also leads to alot of WR getting nicked up cuz WR are usually laying out for ball like Woods and Goodwin did last week vs KC.
  2. We have a great duo out there now at safety position. For all the ppl who are still pissed at Byrd (i'm among them) he's been a big difference back there. Leonard may have had a few INT's but was a liability vs. run and was rarely on time on deep balls and was not great when he was in coverage. With Byrd back there, Searcy can be a 3rd safety that still sees decent ammount of playing time and is great in that role and become great on blitz with a few sacks and some pressure. with Gilmore starting to get back in form, this secondary is not a weakness anymore with Mcluvin as CB2 and Roby who has been great as nickel corner. If Byrd leaves, that leaves us with a huge hole again at FS. Hopefully Duke is learning this yr and can step in next yr as starter but outside of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (who is a top 8-15 pick which me will probably land) there is no outher Safety thats worth even a 2nd or 3rd rounder.
  3. SO TRUE... As frustrating as it has been watching games this yr, this is CLEARLY a different football team. We have been in every game in a QB driven league with the likes of Thad Lewis and Jeff Tuel... It kills me we didnt keep a real backup QB when they banked on Kevin Kolb as that guy which is probably more a front office decision than the head coach. If we had a competent backup that could just "manage" the game, we would be above .500. Also, having CJ gimpy for most of season, it has really limited our running game. With EJ and BOTH Freddy and CJ on the field, it just opens up soooo much more. We need that 1-2 punch of CJ and Freddy. Freddy is a great RB but can not "be the guy" on his own. He doesnt possess that breakaway speed that scares a D so they can load the box on him. When CJ is healthy, Freddy is MUCH more effective cuz hes more the change of pace back with CJ needing to be the lead guy. I am really excited to see EJ back and hopefully will grow with the WR corp which is starting to shape up and guys seperating themselves on the depth chart. Hopefully (if healthy) Goodwin not TJ Feathersone Graham is on field is 3 WR sets with Stevie and Woods. These 3 are CLEARLY the 3 best WR on team and combined form a solid trio and all have very different skill sets which is whats needed on a good WR corp. For a rookie coach to have the go 3-4 guys deep at QB and have CJ being a non factor for basically half the games this yr, i think hes done best he can with what he has to work with. The Pettine hiring was exactly what this D needed. This a top 10 D now that the secondary is getting healthy. Now is time EJ has to prove he;s the guy cuz we have the tools around to succeed.
  4. Watch him go to Packers ASAP and do ok if he has to play. He should have played last week for us instead of that waste of space Tuel. I'd rather have a vet being a game manager than a undrafted rookie who showed NOTHING in entire college career and cost us the game.
  5. For all the bad throws Tuel made yesterday, that was NOT one of them.. Ball was put only where WR could have caught it and if Featherstone wasnt so clumpsy and turned properly to the ball and had actually hands, it could easily have been caught. Hackett deserves NO FLACK for game plan yesterday. Tuel was AWFUL and that pick six was not a bad call, he just telegraphed where he wanted to throw and if he looked at Stevie which was an EASY read, like to EJ's in Carolina game, actually easier cuz Stevie was in line sight as he was only directly behind where ball was thrown. He would have had easiest TD pass of his life with Stevie WIDE open for an easy 6. If he makes that read and we jumped up 17-3... With the D playing that well and the running game being dominant and OL winning the battles at line of scrimmage, we win this game in spite of Tuel. His first int was equally bad. He had a VERY clean pocket with zero pressure and his throw just sailed (like 90%) of his passes. He must be cut.. This kid has nothing going for him. I was ALL OVER Case Keenum coming out of college, its really too bad we didnt get him as our developmental QB.. The kid is a winner and will be a starter in NFL. He has all the" tools"
  6. Putting way too much arc on a lot of balls. The diff between Goodwins catch it was much better tragectory
  7. is there any doubt after those 2 deep balls who should be on field in 3 WR sets as deep threat????
  8. This is looking like a EXTREMELY GOOD D! Brees just isnt in synch today
  9. HOW ABOUT GOOD PLAY CALL BY HACKETT MOVING STEVIE TO SLOT
  10. Enough with Hackett... not his fault guy cant hold on to ball..
  11. MUST get pressure on Brees, especially right up gut. Hopefully they blitz kiko and use Robey on Sproles.. Too quick for a lb and Robey is perfect matchup for him. Must get a TD on either ST or D AND 1 big play TD. Missing CJ will hurt us with later cuz Freddy doesnt break big ones and finish them. Hopefully we can get Goodwin or TJ "Featherstone" one that hits him in facemask and gets stuck on deep route and runs in endzone with ball stuck in facemask cuz his hands are bricks! Thad needs turnover free game.... This is alot to ask but is necessary in order to upset Saints... Just a really bad matchup for us.. hopefully loss of Graham wil be huge cuz just having him on field whether healthy or not requires attention. Watson can easily be covered by LB or SS
  12. I'd rather see Robey shawdow Sproles.. If Graham doesnt play we will have a lot more freedom in secondary and can go man and blitz heavy. Only way to disrupt Brees is heavy pressure
  13. I agree.. I thnk we DO beat Chiefs... U can play them close and the Ralph will be rocking if we are in game in 4th... This week in NO tho....is just the worst possible matchup for us especially with CJ out. With him at 100% and EJ in maybr we have shot but even if they dont have Graham this week, Brees and co. is a matchup nightmare for our D and NO is not same D as last yr..
  14. Very shocked they didnt give it to Robert Mathis got got 2 sacks vs Manning in game of week on prime time nonetheless! Very impressed with Mario and the first sack was the nicest fully clean hit on QB on there is and the 2nd sack was WON us the game with him knocking ball loose. Even though that sack won us game, i still thought the national media and all the attention being paid to Denver/ Indy game would hand Mathis the award especially cuz he has had even more sacks than Mario on yr. Just goes to show u what respect Mario has earned this yr after alot of scrutiny last yr. If anyone watched "miked up" on Bills official site and u could see how Mario has become a vocal leader and a real teammate. Him and Kyle are the leaders of the D and every game Mario has been very vocal on field moving guys around and just seems SO much more into the game this yr than last.
