  1. We didnt NEED Sammy to be a star last night... We stepped on the gas, and dominated from start to finish. If anything.... Woods playing that well is a huge breakout performance! His first 100 yard game with 9 catches... Hogan is best suited for a #3 slot receiver type and has excelled in that role. Outside of Sammy, no WR has stepped up to become a "legit" #2 and a threat to a D. Let's not forget Woods was our early 2nd round pick just last year. All good O's have more than 1 threat to a D.. Woods made some really nice grabs last night. The 1 handed catch down sideline, a couple of back shoulder throws that came in low and he was able to make the adjustment (which is a play i can remember him and Orton being VERY off the last few weeks. Woods was drafted to be a solid #2 WR. He has shown some glimpes but hasnt been very consistent which is partly due to lack of real looks in passing game. Hopefully, he can continue contributing and give D's someone else to fear other than Sammy on the outside. This could be his big breakout game. Also, Sammy hasnt been FULLY healthy all year. It was nice to see him get through a game without really getting hit and hopefully will be healthier than he has all yr for our game of the yr vs the Browns which is BEYOND a must win... This game HAD to be circled on calendar... With Pettine there now, losing a bunch of very winnable games to them in past yrs and not to mention the biggest X factor in the game. A win pushes that #1 draft most likely a few spots down! Oh... and lets not forget possibly sneaking into the playoff picture!
  2. The Chiefs are a team that isnt really built to win pretty. They control the clock, the play great D and the focus on running the ball and short passing game ... In a bad weather game game, where the raiders took advantage of a few big plays in 1st half by Murray got them the lead and even though the Chiefs came back and took the lead.... The Raiders were way over due to finally win 1 and Chiefs were due for a letdown after winning ugly a few times. The law of averages plays out.. Look.. we won some REALLY ugly games that looked like sure loses.. Orton 4th and 24 to Chandler and then a last second TD to Sammy. The Detroit game that we had no business winning outside of their kicker missing FG's like a D3 college kicker etc... The sloppy conditions add to that last nite along with the Raiders playing at home in a primetime game. If the Raiders were gonna steal 1 game, that game had upset written all over it especially with field conditions.
  3. Adam Shefter reported this morning on countdown that If they want out from Cutlers deal there SEVERAL teams that have expressed interest.... I for one wold LOVE having Cutler. He's had his ups and downs, but has a HUGE arm and with our D, he wont have to be in shootouts where he makes some dumb mistakes. Even with the huge contract, i'd take him in a second and know he have a REAL QB for the next 5+ yrs. He has all the talent in the world and even without a 1st rounder, if Chi wants to make a change, they wont have much leverage cuz of his contract. We will be way under cap and also, wont have a 1st round pick to sign (even tho they arent as pricey as used to be). We NEED to keep Hughes and hopefully extend Dareus but they will pick up option on Dareus rookie deal and hopefully he doesnt hold out to get paid like he truly deserves to. This team is a QB away from being a true playoff team. We dont need a tier 1 QB like Manning, Brady etc.. i'd be 100% fine with a guy like Cutler who in right system can really excel and would not miss those red zone throws Orton has been missing BADLY last 2 games. Could be very interesting option and not many teams will have cap room ! GO BILLS
  4. I'm 34 and havent missed a Bills game since i was like 12.... I got married back in 2006 (now divorced and engaged again but that's whole other story!) my in laws threw us a wedding at the Breakers Resort in Palm Beach. I said i know i'm the groom, its the bride's day, and i'll agree to ANYTHING but i have just 1 request.... Make sure the wedding is after 6 pm! Jewish weddings are on sundays and i got to watch the Bills game from my hotel suite! Too bad if was a drubbing at hands of the Pats.. we were down lby over 2 TD's by halftime! I wanted to kill JP Losman that day (and many others!) Maybe the Bills game should have made me call wedding off and save hundreds of grand in divorce settlement!!
  5. I think the lack of screens and end arounds has been cuz of the ribs.. When a WR runs an end around or a bubble screen, he;s usually gonna get hit by few guys and get taken down in traffic, our guys and the D tend to get piled up... It's come out that his ribs were actually broken, not just bruised so to keep him healthier, limiting that phase has kept him upright (so far). Hopefully this groin isnt serious cuz in order to make a playoff push, we need Sammy even more involved.. That should mean those bubble screens and such. At Clemson, they did it SOOOOOOO often with him and he was so effective at it. The only thing that makes any sense at all for the reason they havent done it, is the ribs... BUT... with Hackett, who knows! He may be the only OC stupid enough to misuse/ underuse a PHENOM talent like Sammy Great points... This has definitely been the strongest rookie group of WR's in a long time. Probably since the Eric Mould's draft. That draft had some GREAT WR's. Keyshawn at 1, Terry Glenn at 7, Eddie Kennison (not close to a star, but not a total bust) at 18, Marvin Harrison at 19, and Moulds at 24.
  6. Bo is a right handed Tim Tebow, BUT with much better accuracy and velocity. His running style is very similar to Tebow's.. Not super fast, but is shifty and he is a BIG boy... seems to always get that extra 2-3 falling forward cuz he can overpower college LB's. That right there will be an issue cuz NFL LB's are bigger and stronger than in college. He's not as fast as a guy like Cam, so he wont be able to make DL and LB miss as easily and get to the 2nd level of the D. Marriota is the sure fire 1st pick overall and i can not see us not drafting a QB between 2-4th rounds especially if Orton is starting next yr. Bo would actually be a good understudy to sit and learn from Kyle and Kyle will be happy to know he's "the guy"... Even though EJ will be in year 3 by then... I think we must cut ties, and the organazation has to realize he just doesnt have that "it" factor. Misses sooooooo badly on SIMPLE routes... He has happy feet, and is not even accurate throwing from a clean pocket, let alone on the run... And one of his assets coming into NFL was his legs which have proven to be probably his WORST asset in the pro's. Got hurt few times last yr cuz he just doesnt understand how to scramble and when he does, he is so paranoid about getting re-injured, he makes the short cut and heads to sideline or slides when he can easily pick up another 4-5 yards by staying inbounds and cutting upfield. Sure, he will take a hit, but this is not Michael Vick... EJ is as big as a LB... if he puts his head down, it would avoid those hits to knees. He reacts way too slowly and when he was the starter, he never seemed to play like it could be his last game. Maybe this was in part cuz Marrone told him, dont get hurt... slide or get OOB. A guy playing for his job, should be BEYOND willing to take a hit, in order to turn a 5 yard scramble into a 12 yard 1st down... Either way... His confidence is shot and that was always an issue in the 1st place! Orton is better than just serviceable and would be a very good mentoring type QB. A guy like Bo, or Shane Carden or Cook (who may be a 1st rounder and has even hinted he may stay in college another yr) would be a few names to target in draft. ONLY guy i wouldnt want is Prescott. He is the epidemy of a college QB not being able to make transition to NFL. Has way too many flaws throwing the ball and his running skill set is closer to Cam's than Tebows, but he is NOT an NFL starting caliber QB. If u watch his highlights he may look like he is, but if u watch his full games.... and see the mistakes he gets away with.. He's no better than a more mobile EJ. RC
  7. yup... gonna be 100 million dollar deal needed to lock up Dareus.. MUST be kept but will make signing Hughes very difficult when we already are paying Mario huge dough and Kyle is still making big bucks too. thats gonna be alot of money tied up in DL
  8. This! Most KO go for touchbacks anyway, and in a division game vs Jets, i dont see Geno & co scoring very much therefore there wont be many kickoffs. BUT... to answer the question, it should be Mclovin. Using Sammy is WAY too risky. Too valuable to present and future of team.
  9. The ONLY way to get a "cant miss QB" in this upcoming draft is by selecting FIRST. Marriota is the best QB since Luck. Outside of Marriota, all the other QB's have far too many question marks to be labeled "cant miss" prospects. Once u pass the top 10, maybe 15.. Qb's start dropping cuz most of the teams drafting in 2nd half of 1st round were either in the playoffs or barely missed out. Most of those teams HAVE a legit QB and have greater needs than drafting a Connor Cook, Bryce Petty type to be theie "kirk Cousins" (who just got benched to the OUTSTANDING (cough) Colt Mccoy! If drafting a QB is going to happen, i see zero issue with getting a 2nd or even 3rd rounder like TB did with Glennon and allow him to be groomed behind a vet like Orton. Like OP CLEARLY pointed out... Bills D was gonna keep us out of top 10 regardless. Try and picture SJ13 in Sammy's role.... Would he have made that catch to set up GW FG vs Lions????? Would he have caught that go route for TD? Let alone the catches Sammy made on final drive???? Sammy has had his rookie moments, but has shown through training camp, and so far in 1st half of regular season that this is a kid with WR1 talent, and has work ethic to go along with it. He's a game changer. The D has alot to do with our record but with needing game winning drives, having a guy like Sammy is an absolute MUST in this league. You cant get by with SJ13 types as #1 WR's. At least we are at pretty much midway point of season, and the Bills are still VERY much relavent in both WC and division. Would we be there WITHOUT Sammy???? NO WAY.. RC
  10. Hargreaves is gonna be a star... Best CB in college. After Penn St disastrous offensive performances past few games, i highly doubt Hackenberg comes out after sophmore yr, he definitely would benefit from staying in school at least another year. Funchess is a very interesting prospect... Would be the pass catching TE Bills havent had in years. Considering how fast we are at the skill positions with most of our RB's and WR's, our TE's are turtles... Chandler makes 1 catch every few games that makes u go WOW! then is total dud. Turns back late for ball. Catches 4 yard pass gets tackled or knocked out of bounds without even falling forward! has a ball clank off him... He's one of my most frustrating players on team to watch!
  11. Very simple... Our DL.. the formula for beating the Pats is to get pressure with front 4 and not really "need" to blitz and have 7 guys in coverage.. The talent around Brady at the skill positions are no where near as scary in years past and their OL is suspect. If the DL plays as well as it did last week and Orton is efficient and hopefully we can get some CONSISTENT production from running game. Not 1-2 yards a pop, then we have good chance at winning this game. Especially with it being at home where 12th man will be huge factor! I can sure say this... i feel ALOT better about our chances with Orton than i do with Manuel. There are SOOOO many things that can be said to point to Orton over EJ but the thing i feel is most important is how both players played after throwing a pick 6 last 2 weeks. EJ crumbled and looked tentative rest of game. And that was still a VERY close game even after the pick 6... Orton's pick 6 got us down 14-0. Instead of getting gun shy like EJ would have, its like it got him going. He wasnt playing very well before the INT and had virtually no running game to work with and still led us back. I have never had good feeling about a Pats game but i;m causiously optimistic this week.
  12. Here is an idea.... EVERYONE do EXACTLY what you did last sunday leading up to gametime. Same wake up time, same exact breakfast, same pre-game-ritual, even wear exact same thing, clean or dirty!!!!! As Robert Deniro said in Silver Lining Playbook, we need all the JUJU we can get for this game!!!!!! Its too early in the year to be "most important" game but it sure is a BIG game... As some have pointed out: head to head, division record, conference record are main tie breakers in Division and wild card races. Have a feeling with Zero unbeaten teams this early in the yr, tie breakers will probably be HUGE factor in getting into playoffs either as WC or division winner... To beat NE would mean worst case, we split with them, we already got another division W under our belt but we are only 1-2 in conference as 2 of our wins were vs NFC.. I wish i could fast forward week to 1pm sunday!!!!!! GO BILLS!
  13. Its the biggest game in Marrone era.... lets not forget we played them in 2008 when we were BOTH 5-3 and that was the year that Brady was hurt week 1 and Cassel was their QB and we still lost 20-10..... THAT game was DEVASTATING loss and would have put us in REAL position to win division as it was week 10 both of us had our byes and identical records..... That game brings back BAD memories!
  14. ALOT of starting QB's are not 1st rounders. AFC east, Orton, Geno, Brady. 3/4 AFC south: Fitz, 1/4 AFC North: Hoyer, Dalton 2/4 AFC west: Carr 1/4 NFC east: Romo, Foles, Cousins 3/4 NFC south:Glennon, Brees 2/4 NFC North: 0-4 NFC West, Kap, Wilson, Stanton, Davis 4/4 That's exactly 50% of the 32 QB;s that are NOT 1st rounders. Sometimes its easier to develop an early/ mid 2nd round QB cuz they can bring them along the right way instead of doing what front office wants and throw them out there to sell tickets. U keep a vet QB that can stay upright, (not a Kolb type). Orton would be fine if he does well in his showcase starting today. If he's not good enough to cut it, bring in a VET that will WIN the job and allow the 2nd rounder learn from sidelines from day 1 so when he is inserted into the lineup, he has more time learning system and seeing live game action while dealing with NFL coaches, practices, meetings compared to college. Its WHOLE other level in pro's and that another reason alot of these QB fail.
  15. Bo seems a bit like a Tebow type with obviously better arm... His running is a bit overrated cuz it wont transpire to the NFL, (running mostly up the gut like tebow did). He's a big boy, tough as nails and has more "it" factor than guys like EJ who was drafted on talent, not intangibles. I think by us having to use a 2nd or 3rd on a QB we will REALLY have to do our homework on guys, that a bit under the radar cuz they have a defiency. Like Kevin Costner said in draft day. EVERY kid has SOMETHING... find out what it is, so he know if its fixable or not. Accuracy is NOT fixable. Bad decision making MIGHT be fixable if kid can take heavy critism, and LEARN from it. EJ needed a damn mental coach! He's Soft... We need a gritty QB, that might be a touch too small, or ppl think his hands are a big too small like when Drew Brees slipped to 2nd cuz he was too small. Wilson in the 3rd... I'm actually friendly with Vinny Sutherland who for those who dont recognize name, was Drew's main target in final college yr. Drew had all the leadership, and intagibles while at Purdue. This is the type of find we MUST get in draft. I;ve been watching Wallace alot over past 2 yrs, he does tend to make some head scratching throws and not sure he would be a great fit as an NFL QB. 1 kid to REALLY watch considering his numbers arent what ppl expected this yr and hopefully can lead to him slipping in draft is Bryce Petty... that kid can just flat out play... I agree, but since u are MSU fan and i'm just a huge college football fan (no specific team), dont u get the feel he would be the type of kid that sticks around for senior year? MSU will be in national championship picture (might even be THIS yr after yesterdays madness!)
  16. Even if Orton is successful, he;s a band aid to our QB issues. Without that precious 1st rounder we already gave up in a pretty nice QB laden draft, i could easily see some names fall to 2nd round. Firstly, not all teams NEED a QB and teams dont tend to draft a 1st round QB unless they are in last yr with their guy or are in need of a QB. There are some really good QB's out there (without the press) of the "big name" guys like Winston, Marriota etc... 1 of the guys i just love is Shane Carden from East Carolina. If he keeps playing like he has, he may end up being a 1st rounder... Dak Prescott is making a name for himself with Miss St. just piling up yards and points. Connor Cook from Mich. St could be 2-3rd rounder (he's a Junior and i'd think he'd probably stay for senior yr). In this day and age, even taking one of the PAC 12 and BIG 12 type QB;s who put up video game numbers weekly, can succeed in this league. Foles is perfect example of that. Guys like Sean Mannion have big arms, and good size to run these quick pace, short pass style O's that 10 years ago were viewed as just college O's but at least 8-10 teams incorporate alot of this sort of O in NFL to take advantage of 1 on 1 matchups. I know i didnt name alot of QB;s, but those were just a few of top of my head after watching 1 of wildest College football weekends i've seen in years!! Can't wait till game-time!!!! GO BILLS!!!!
  17. It's the truth... he's laying guys out to dry on EASY passes.... Even when he hits a pass, it was rare he hit guy in stride so our WR's could get some YAC which should be a strength of his WR corp. I fully expect to O to rally hard around Orton. He may have less "talent" than EJ, but will make smarter reads and when an "easy" play is there (and there have been plenty) he will hit open WR's. It's not like EJ was trying to thread needles on most pass attempts... Most passes have been well off target and WR's are just left shaking their heads on alot of plays. When a WR gets open and has running room on top of it, and ball is thrown well behind him and needs to make accrobatic attempt just to TRY and haul it in, let alone catch and gain some extra yards. It's gotta be very frustrating when u run a nice route, beat your man then see a ball sail 8 yards above your head and 3 yards behind u and u try and stop while running 1 direction, reach back 2 try and make grab then get POPPED by DB on a ball that should have been thrown to lead u 3 yards into the catch and then pick up some YAC and avoid big hits.
  18. This is key.. EJ didnt use his athletic ability anyways and always slid and got OOB WAY too early and sacrificed 1st downs. Maybe if EJ had been warned if he didnt get it done, Orton was coming in , he wuold have "let it rip" and ran the ball harder. Like a player playing for his career. He was so coddled, and felt it was HIS job and probably didnt want to risk injury. I think the biggest play of the game was well before the Watt pick 6. I was that 3rd and 9, near the end of 1st half when we were leading 10-0 and Houston had done absolutely nothing vs our D and Fitzy had no one opened and he ran for that 1st down, went head first and took a nice pop by 2 Bills defenders and picked up first down cuz he dove instead of sliding. Not sure if it was next play, but within couple of plays he hit Hopkins for that TD to make a game that we had completely dominated up until that point and took crowd out of game, a 10-7 game at half rather than 10-0.... EJ has ran the ball plenty of times this yr were he ducked out of bounds 5 yards too soon or slid way too early for a guy built like a LB. I know he has had 3 knee injuries last yr, but if we had any chance of being a playoff team WITH EJ as QB, he HAD to use his legs as asset, not liability. Cam is not most accurate passer either. But uses his legs and size to extend drives. Never got how Hackett didnt tell EJ to stop ducking a hit from someone in secondary where he outwieghs them by 20-30 pounds and has few inches on them too when O has been struggling to keep drives going. Everyone knew EJ was ""raw" prospect, so to make up for some on his weaknesses, he could easily have been used for 40 yards or so on the ground a game which would have made teams have to account for him at LOS which in turn, has 1 less guy in coverage... Alot of this is on the coaches. The best coaches, take a player, and form there O to that guys skill set. The read option would have been ALOT more effective if we established EJ as real threat to run. Not 1 token QB keeper a game. If his time was coming and they were thinking of pulling plug on experiment.... Why not do things that use his body type and athletic ability rather than just hand it to CJ or Freddy every single time out of read option looks. Also, CJ will be alot more effective in a more traditional offense or even a spread attack with 3 or 4 WR and running out of shotgun alot like he did under Gailey. Hopefully, they use Orton intelligently or this will be another long, frustrating afternoon. RC
  19. The interior of their DL with Suh and Fairley against our Guards is the biggest matchup nightmare we may see all season. Last week was total disaster dealing with Watt with 9 QB hits and outside of Watt, we didnt have as much to worry about along the DL. Detroit duo is as good if not better than our duo of K. Williams (if healthy) and Dareus.... With how poorly our guards have played and with having Cyril making just his 2nd start and Pears looking like a tree that stands still out there. I hope Wood and whomever we line up in backfield have outstanding game blocking the rush coming right up gut to Orton;s face. Hopefully Orton will be smarter than EJ and make quick reads and get ball out quick and we let our WR's and Rb's finally show what they got without having a QB that's trying to decapitate them with errant throws!
  20. all they had to do was touch him with their pinkie finger let alone 2 hands.... i tossed my bottled water across the room when i saw him roll for that extra yardage as the 2 Bills defenders literally just stood there looking demoralized
  21. Vince Mcmahon has lost too much money with the WWE network to do it again!!
  22. this is a beautiful thing! The biggest difference between this team and past teams, is depth. Even when Gailey had us on that hot run in 2011, most of the team was late round picks, bunch of filler type guys who moved ball cuz teams didnt scheme for us YET and once they figured out all we could do was throw quick slants and screens the O looked awful and the D was no where need as talented. At CB alone, we have 6 guys that can play. We are deep enough to allow our RB1 to return kickoffs! I've been a fan of the Bills since i was 7 and i'm now 34 and its been a LONG time since i felt optimism. This has different feel to it than 2008 and 2011
  23. i agree, but with CJ and Freddy healthy, Dixon is better suited to as RB3 and a change of pace back and his superb special teams play. ^^^ this.. but i do hope they do re-sign Spikes. You can never have too many good LB's. I'd love to have Kiko, Spikes, Brown and Bradham and have Bradham and Brown battle for starting gig. Brown would still see time on field with sub packages which are so common nowadays. Rivers is the guy who i could see having trouble seeing field or even making team next yr if Spikes is re-signed. He's a leader, and a winner and has that nasty streak a MLB needs
  24. I'm not supersticious at all, but YES we should stick with them cuz the all whites are so much nicer!
