  1. Yeah I think EJ gets kinda shafted on here, kid wasn't supposed to really play last year but thanks to the Evil Wet Mat/demise of Kevin Kolb he was thrown to the wolves. Maybe he gets this year to sit down and make up for that, maybe he's already broken we really don't know. He is doing exactly what he himself needs to be doing right now and that is staying positive, involved with the team and taking notes on Orton.........I think we see EJ again at some point, he isn't as done as some on here think. And yeah about that 4th and 20, I doubt EJ puts the team in that position. This is all coming from a guy who hated the EJ selection, so don't tell me I just refuse to be wrong. If we had my way Mike Glennon would be being broken behind this O-Line.
  2. A win is a win but Marrone needs to put the talent together or leave. Reminds me of our 5-0(?) start under Chan when a poster started a topic "Bills way of winning unsustainable", with so much talent we need to take control. Pessimism out of the way, can't wait to see Bryce Brown next week and great game by Watkins and Hogan. Never thought Hogan would amount to anything and I'll eat some crow on this one, he played ball today. Hughes deserves a new contract, keep this D-Line together for the next few years and it gives the Bills a consistent identity on defense. Can we find some more CB's though? Gilmore isn't cutting it.
  3. Orton is better then EJ at this point in time but already think he's getting overrated by many on this board. The offense is still beyond pathetic, really don't wanna see Orton again next year but it's what we gotta stomach for this season......And for the record, I was so on board for Mike Glennon instead of EJ but cannot have EJ shoulder the blame for how bad the offense has been. With no O-line and a OC that seems to be playing Madden how can we trust that any QB can be developed under this mess? This coming from a guy who wanted 3-4 QB's instead of Manuel, he screamed inconsistent at FSU.
  4. Harvin is just a name, a headcase and a WR who has never broken 1000yds and never will, I give my armchair GM promise. I'd do the Watkins deal all over again, if this guy had a top 20 QB he would be on pace for 1500yds, he IS just that talented.
  5. I think LA and San Antonio are next for teams. Just read an article stating that citizens of San Antonio were given a survey asking if they would like an NFL team in the proximity. Oak--->San Antonio and then STL becomes LA would be my guess. Think Jacksonville stays, Khan seems committed to making it work over there. Wonder if Oklahoma City would be a possible destination for a team in the future, anyone from around those parts? But yeah 2 teams being moved to LA sounds way too risky considering their track record, seems almost stupid.
  6. Not to over-simplify it but because he's played 1 game in a Bills uniform. Let's hold on before we even consider him a short term answer. Desperation for a franchise QB does funny things.
  7. No. Not that it is his fault, but no need for a media distraction thrown on top of the reports of Marrone/Whaley conflict and everybody panicking about EJ. And him not making the Rams roster isnt suspicious as some suggest, Westbrooks was matching him and it was a toss up, maybe the media being all over him was what made Westbrooks a more attractive option. I know as a GM i would not want to HAVE to make a statement that cutting a 7th rounder was a "football decision". He was just like any other draft pick besides for the media glamour. No one should care if he's gay, just another human being living his life. Agree or disagree he's done what he has thought is right and that is admirable.
  8. Hmmmm Brett Favre, Chris Leak, I also hear Tyler Thigpen is probably gonna be looking for a job. Brad Smith isnt too bad what is he up to? Gibran Hamdan was a legend among men. Someone told me we could draft Chad Kelly in the 1st next year, I'm sure his tweeting would be more entertaining then EJ's.... On a serious note, I can't believe Blaine Gabbert was ever a 1st round pick, much less a top 5 pick. The guy had such obvious weakness from his time at Missouri, one of the worst QB's under pressure, believe he was also a YAC monster playing with Jeremy Maclin. A live arm and built enough to not get injured by a hit but that is it, similar propects end up in the 2nd half of the draft. It's strange how quick Tyler Wilson (3rd rd Ark.) has fallen out of relevancy, Hasn't had three years and I think it's his 3rd team. Small hands I guess. If Chase Daniel became available I would kick the tires on him to pick up Manuel. Young, decent arm and can run. Has backed up Brees and wouldn't be too much of a change from EJ in terms of gameplan.
  9. Really do dislike the term "hater". I'm lazy so I won't bother google-ing it but is it even a word? Welcome criticism for EJ, as he has deserved it, just think this topic is more likely to bring unintelligent conversation out then anything. Not blaming it on PTR as I love reading his posts, just at this point Manziel has proven nothing. 2 years down the road maybe this would be a good conversation unless they both bust......which would be typical for us poor Bills fans and our companions in despair over in Cleveland.
  10. If it was in the 1st then perhaps you could consider it a disappointment but getting a above average guard in the second would really complete this draft class. Would love if Richardson ended up starting at some point but if he tops out as a swing interior linemen then it's great for a 5th round pick spent. The purpose was to find a starting tackle with upside and if Henderson succeeds but Kujo busts (IF he does gotta wait 3yrs for that) then they still accomplished their goal.
  11. This is the perfect thread to cause a pointless conversation to bash EJ. No after 1 average preseason I wouldn't even consider trading them straight up. With a QB like JM, give him a year for D-coordinators to get some film on him and I still bet he busts out (that's if he even makes it that far). Hoyer looks like he can be a dependable QB, but EJ's upside/youth is more valuable then Hoyer. For the record I like Hoyer more still and would start him if Cleveland is serious about a winning team this year. Couldnt we just do this with every NFL QB who looks good in the preseason? EJ for Teddy Bridgewater? EJ for Chase Daniel? EJ and a 7th for Ryan Mallet? EJ for Brock Osweiler? EJ and MILLIONS for Ko Simpson?
  12. I'd still rather keep Lewis especially after seeing that the HOF game was a result of playing with a bunch of 3rd/4th stringers. I'd keep Tuel as the 3rd QB, just don't see a big difference between him and Thad. For now especially with how critical this year is the Bills should have the more experienced QB in. Thad kept us in games and gave us a competitive chance, the guy is a baller. Not a Tuel hater, just really don't see the upside some posters mention.
  13. I'd really take a long look at Kirk Cousins, A.Murray and Mike Glennon if there is an absolute need to replace EJ following this year. 50/50 that needs to happen. Willing to bet Mallet goes to FA and signs with Oak/Hou to compete with a rookie, maybe NE could get a 4th/5th but with his contract situation plus remaining time to learn a playbook dont see that happening Or hey what is Mike Flynn up to?
  14. I don't see Mallet fitting in with this offense. Liked him as a player alot, favorite mid round prospect besides maybe Glennon, but he is a pure pocket QB who relies on a rocket arm. Sometimes a QB's success is dependent on what team he goes to, even if R.Wilson was drafted instead of Graham absolutely no guarantee he would be as good as he is perceived now.
  15. Manuel wasn't terrible. Looked below average in the 7 attempts but hardly horrible, low completion percentage pass, a TD dropped and 2 decent plays mixed with some batted down passes, guess we should cut last years 1st round QB now. It was the HOF game. 10 games and a preseason game and this guy is almost as hated as Tebow. Once again for those who need reminding, it's PRESEASON. 7 attempts is HARDLY a good enough read for this season OBD experts.
  16. If we aren't taking on "re-treds" then we are taking on unproven players and are desperate. And yes we all know for a FACT that EJ is a bust and needs to be replaced right now. No possibility he pans out and this somehow relates to Carl Nicks being released by the Bucs. Seriously. Keep chat like that where it belongs please. Back to the OP. About Carl Nicks, really wish him the best such a great guard when healthy and to have to sit due to MRSA? What a shame. If there was a chance he could be healthy I'd expect Whaley to be all over him right now.
  17. I rode the Glennon and Bridgewater bandwagons myself, but it is a very good point and also brings up the fact that minus 3 QBs, rookie QB's still struggle to adjust to the league and it takes time. EJ might have had a lot to gain from sitting for a year or two, but with how negative most of the fanbase is bringing in a veteran not named Drew Brees would still have us kicking and screaming. The only other option I think the Bills might have had a chance at would have been pushing to acquire Kirk Cousins. Alex Smith is still middle of the pack and might have led to a playoff berth but not much else. To draft a QB in 2014 would have been a mistake and would throw even more pressure on the pick to make it happen this year. 3 years is typically what a young QB gets to prove it unless he absolutely bombs out (google Jamarcus Russell).
  18. If the Bills leave think I'll join the Eagles or Packers fandom. Never liked the Steelers and the Browns seem to love imploding on themselves. Chances are I'd be much into college football. Typically watch 2-3games a week but it would probably take up sundays as well if the Bills weren't here anymore.
  19. Still think it was a bit premature to trade SJ13 right after (or during?) the draft. Better off waiting to see if Mike Williams would pan out, plus think maybe we could have gotten more for him by waiting and seeing if the injury bug takes out some WRs. Never have really understood the hate for the guy, had a few moments (Steelers drop, Pats drop) but there was no one else that was stepping up and he kept us in ball games. Antics is what I dont get, no off-field issues, as loyal as they come and I dont think his TD celebrations ever resulted in hurting the team. I'm too lazy to look it up though. Brought some personality to this team, when the team wasnt showing much else. WIsh the best of luck for him on the 49ers.
  20. Anything above 4mil and I'd prefer to let Spiller walk, unless he terrorizes the NFL this year. Maybe extend Jackson for another 2yrs, but other then that the Bills would be better served to stand pat this year. Lockdown Glenn ASAP, Dareus I think everyone is taking a wait and see approach.
  21. Then the Bills fan in me lays down, and I whip a Eagles or Packers jersey out of my closet.
  22. Strange how before the draft it's "we have too many TE's" and now we don't have the quality . Hopefully Moeaki can stay healthy, remember him catching a few balls against us when we shredded the Chiefs under Gailey. I'm not to hopeful about Gragg, sounds like he hasn't improved. Some of his negatives out of college were that he was raw in terms of routes and I believe he had a case of the dropsies. Bubble guy, especially if a few TE's end up cut around preseason.
  23. Don't think they can afford to cut him, and I doubt it's about money the Bills have the room. They did trade SJ in big part because of acquiring Williams, it would look very foolish if by the season opener they had given up on 2 proven outside receivers just to give it to a 5 8 Goodwin.
  24. I think the Bills should kick the tires, if they plan to compete and get to the next level they need depth. Couldn't hurt on maybe a 1yr 2.5-3mil deal to back up Mario and Hughes, could even give them a break. Seems to fit the scheme okay so can't say its one of those awful "I've heard of him!" threads. Only warning sign to me is I seem to remember him having attitude issues a year or two ago, can't find anything concrete but there are rumors according to multiple articles after a quick Google search.
  25. Well he will give them entertaining football until Houston finds the magical guy. Don't expect to see a deep ball anytime soon though. The right way to go about a mini rebuild and remain competent.
