Should absentee ballots be illegal?
ALF replied to Warren Zevon's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Do it if you really want to go to prison. You better believe republican politicians will triple check returns if democrats win. Which is good to have honest election results. -

When one party has the Senate and WH without needing 60 votes they have the right to confirm a SC Justice if time permits. If the Democrats were in this position you better believe they would do it. If the republicans confirm a SC Justice before the election it will just motivate more Democrats to vote . Garland did not get a hearing in the Senate because it was Republican hoping to take the WH in 2016.Yep elections have consequences , if you don't vote don't complain afterwards. -

Is Roe v Wade Finally At Deaths Door?
ALF replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
In 1994, McCorvey published her autobiography, I Am Roe. At a book signing, McCorvey was befriended by Flip Benham, an evangelical minister and the national director of the anti-abortion organization Operation Rescue. She converted to Christianity and was baptized on August 8, 1995, by Benham, in a Dallas, Texas, backyard swimming pool – an event that was filmed for national television. Two days later, she announced that she had quit her job at an abortion clinic and had become an advocate of Operation Rescue's campaign to make abortion illegal. She voiced remorse for her part in the Supreme Court decision and said she had been a pawn of abortion activists. On August 17, 1998, McCorvey was received into the Catholic Church in a Mass celebrated by Father Edward Robinson and concelebrated by Father Frank Pavone, director of Priests for Life, at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Dallas. McCorvey's second book, Won by Love, described her religious conversion and was published in 1998. In the book, she said that her change of heart occurred in 1995, when she saw a fetal development poster in an Operation Rescue office. In 2004, McCorvey sought to have the U.S. Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade, saying that there was now evidence that the procedure harms women, but the case was ultimately dismissed in 2005.On January 22, 2008, McCorvey endorsed Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul because of his anti-abortion position. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norma_McCorvey -

I don't think a more conservative SC will overturn Roe v. Wade but will allow states rights more leeway to decide. -

Ex-RNC Chair Michael Steele blasts Trump supporters: ‘Yeah, I’m with stupid' Ex-Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele found himself trending on social media after bashing Trump supporters on MSNBC Wednesday night for continuing to stand by the president. “I’ve talked to enough of them over the last few days. I’m exhausted, I’m exasperated. You know, at this point, it’s like, save who you can save. Because there’s only so much you can do, there’s only so much you can say. The fact that we have to literally beg people to wear a mask to save their own dumb a-- from getting sick, I’m sorry. To me, it is beyond the imagination... I am just so exhausted with this president,” Steele told MSNBC’s Brian Williams. https://www.foxnews.com/media/michael-steele-trump-im-with-stupid

With hindsight for the terrible outcome for the Tulsa shooting , a 3rd Officer was needed aiming a gun at the driver while 2 officers try to subdue him. That might have convinced him to comply , I really don't know. If he got out of the car the police would find the illegal gun and maybe drugs sending him to prison. The police knew he had prior drug stops so likely not just a vehicle violation. "Man accused of trading gun used in shooting of Sgt. Johnson for heroin" The gun used to fatally shoot a Tulsa police officer and critically injure another officer was traded for heroin just weeks prior to the shooting, prosecutors allege. “I highlight Jakob Garland’s case because Jakob Garland is alleged to have been the person who gave the gun to David Ware,” Shores said. “He is alleged to have exchanged that gun for heroin.” David Anthony Ware, 33, allegedly shot Zarkeshan and fatally shot Johnson on June 29 during a traffic stop in east Tulsa. https://tulsaworld.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/man-accused-of-trading-gun-used-in-shooting-of-sgt-johnson-for-heroin/article_c44906da-f79b-11ea-b1b0-efddee80a967.html https://www.fox23.com/news/local/man-indicted-providing-weapon-used-tulsa-police-officer-shooting/LBXBYHURMBEMFFR2SO45XGOI4U/

Top HHS spokesman runs through conspiracies in video and claims without evidence CDC scientists are working to resist Trump The top spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services issued an extraordinary broadside on Sunday against career government scientists, accusing them of "sedition" in their response to coronavirus and claiming without evidence that a critical federal health agency has a "resistance unit" against President Donald Trump. In the Sunday video, Caputo mentioned a series of conspiracy theories and predicted that Trump will win reelection but that his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, will not concede, which Caputo claimed would lead to political violence. "And when Donald Trump refuses to stand down at the inauguration, the shooting will begin," he said. "The drills that you've seen are nothing." He also added, "If you carry guns, buy ammunition, ladies and gentlemen, because it's going to be hard to get." Caputo said he was under attack by the media, said his physical health was in question and that his "mental health has definitely failed. During his broadside, Caputo took aim at the CDC, claiming without evidence that scientists "deep in the bowels of the CDC have given up science and become political animals." The scientists "haven't gotten out of their sweatpants except for meetings at coffee shops" to plot "how they're going to attack Donald Trump next," Caputo said. Caputo has a history of making inflammatory remarks on social media. CNN's KFile reported earlier this year that he made racist and derogatory comments about Chinese people, accused Democrats of wanting the coronavirus to kill millions of people and accused the media of intentionally creating panic around the pandemic to hurt Trump in a series of now-deleted tweets. https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/14/politics/michael-caputo-coronavirus-sedition-election/index.html Michael Caputo from Buffalo

Kamala Harris accidentally touts plans under a 'Harris administration' during virtual roundtable Kamala Harris, Joe Biden's running mate in the 2020 election, raised eyebrows on Monday evening after she accidentally touted economic plans under a "Harris administration." Speaking during a virtual roundtable with small business owners in Arizona, Harris vowed that they will have an ally in the White House with the campaign's "Build Back Better" initiative. However, the California senator appeared to briefly suggest that she was at the top of the Democratic ticket. "A Harris administration, together with Joe Biden as the president of the United States," she said. She quickly clarified, "The Biden-Harris administration will provide access to $100 billion in low-interest loans and investments from minority business owners." Many on social media questioned whether Harris' misstatement was a "Freudian slip" as critics of the Biden candidacy insist that former VP is a placeholder for the liberal senator. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/kamala-harris-accidentally-touts-plans-in-a-harris-administration-during-virtual-roundtable See no worry if Joe is elected 🙂 -
POLICE IN CITY WILL USE NETS TO SUBDUE THE DERANGED By Barbara Basler Jan. 27, 1981 New York City police officers, who have been forced to handle a growing number of cases involving mentally disturbed people, will begin using fire extinguishers and huge nets this week when they answer such calls. Officials said the fire extinguishers contained a harmless bicarbonate-of-soda mixture that is sprayed at the person to disorient him while a 10-by-14-foot net is cast over him. Three ropes are attached to the net so that it can be pulled taut, throwing the person to the ground with his arms pinned to his sides. Patrick J. Murphy, chief of operations of the New York Police Department said that it handled 21,000 ''E.D.P.'' - emotionally disturbed person'' - calls in 1980. He said the department had been searching for ways to subdue violent or threatening deranged persons without harming them or endangering the police. He said he believed the nets would will prove effective, but acknowledged that ''they may be controversial.'' ''It doesn't look too nice when you see a fellow enveloped in a cloud of smoke and netted - almost like an animal,'' he said, ''but all this is is an attempt not to hurt these people.' But the doctor, who asked to remain unidentified, conceded that ''the police have a tough job, trying to control the uncontrollable,'' and he said ''this might be a good answer.'' https://www.nytimes.com/1981/01/27/nyregion/police-in-city-will-use-nets-to-subdue-the-deranged.html

Bloomberg plans to spend at least $100 million in Florida to support Biden "Mike Bloomberg is committed to helping defeat Trump, and that is going to happen in the battleground states. Mike's substantial investment in Florida, in addition to his contributions to the DNC and to voter protection and restoration efforts this cycle, will mean Democrats and the Biden campaign can invest even more heavily in other key states like Pennsylvania, which will be critical to a Biden victory," top Bloomberg adviser Kevin Sheekey told CNN. https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/13/politics/michael-bloomberg-florida-trump/index.html -

Redefining Covid-19: Months after infection, patients report breathing difficulty, excessive fatigue Corey Coopersmith was a healthy fitness consultant and nutritionist. Six months after Covid-19, he still can't work, facing dysautonomia and severe breathlessness. (CNN) It's been five months since Lucy Gahan contracted Covid-19, and her life still hasn't returned to normal. Gahan, a clinical psychologist in Shrewsbury, United Kingdom, hasn't been able to return to work. The disease causes what she calls "storms," disabling periods when she feels shortness of breath, numbness in her hands and feet and her heart rate shoots up from simple tasks. Even taking a shower is possible only during an occasional respite in symptoms. "In May and June, I could barely talk because I was so ill," she said. Before contracting the disease in early April, the mother of two ran three times a week and had a regular yoga routine. "I can only walk as far as the corner," she said. "In terms of running, I can't imagine when that will happen, if ever." https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/13/health/long-haul-covid-fatigue-breathing-wellness/index.html covid can be a B.... not just for those with underlying problems
