  2. Bloomberg plans to spend at least $100 million in Florida to support Biden "Mike Bloomberg is committed to helping defeat Trump, and that is going to happen in the battleground states. Mike's substantial investment in Florida, in addition to his contributions to the DNC and to voter protection and restoration efforts this cycle, will mean Democrats and the Biden campaign can invest even more heavily in other key states like Pennsylvania, which will be critical to a Biden victory," top Bloomberg adviser Kevin Sheekey told CNN. https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/13/politics/michael-bloomberg-florida-trump/index.html

  4. Redefining Covid-19: Months after infection, patients report breathing difficulty, excessive fatigue Corey Coopersmith was a healthy fitness consultant and nutritionist. Six months after Covid-19, he still can't work, facing dysautonomia and severe breathlessness. (CNN) It's been five months since Lucy Gahan contracted Covid-19, and her life still hasn't returned to normal. Gahan, a clinical psychologist in Shrewsbury, United Kingdom, hasn't been able to return to work. The disease causes what she calls "storms," disabling periods when she feels shortness of breath, numbness in her hands and feet and her heart rate shoots up from simple tasks. Even taking a shower is possible only during an occasional respite in symptoms. "In May and June, I could barely talk because I was so ill," she said. Before contracting the disease in early April, the mother of two ran three times a week and had a regular yoga routine. "I can only walk as far as the corner," she said. "In terms of running, I can't imagine when that will happen, if ever." https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/13/health/long-haul-covid-fatigue-breathing-wellness/index.html covid can be a B.... not just for those with underlying problems

Trump Casually Says Biden 'Probably' Takes Drugs in Fox News Interview President Donald Trump suggested in a new interview with Fox News that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden "probably" uses drugs to amplify his debate performance. I don't know how you can go from being so bad where you can't even get out a sentence—I mean, you saw some of those debates, with the large number of people on the stage. QAnon fans spread fake claims about real fires in Oregon Authorities in Oregon are pleading with the public to only trust and share information verified by official sources about the unprecedented wildfires sweeping the state. The pleas come as law enforcement agencies described 911 dispatchers being overrun with calls about a false online rumor that "Antifa" members had been arrested for setting the fires — a claim promoted by the anonymous account behind the QAnon conspiracy theories. On Friday, the FBI responded, saying, "reports that extremists are setting wildfires in Oregon are untrue." https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/11/tech/qanon-oregon-fire-conspiracy-theory/index.html

  13. 'Play it down': Trump admits to concealing the true threat of coronavirus in new Woodward book Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump admitted he knew weeks before the first confirmed US coronavirus death that the virus was dangerous, airborne, highly contagious and "more deadly than even your strenuous flus," and that he repeatedly played it down publicly, according to legendary journalist Bob Woodward in his new book "Rage." "This is deadly stuff," Trump told Woodward on February 7. In a series of interviews with Woodward, Trump revealed that he had a surprising level of detail about the threat of the virus earlier than previously known. "Pretty amazing," Trump told Woodward, adding that the coronavirus was maybe five times "more deadly" than the flu. Trump's admissions are in stark contrast to his frequent public comments at the time insisting that the virus was "going to disappear" and "all work out fine." The book, using Trump's own words, depicts a President who has betrayed the public trust and the most fundamental responsibilities of his office. In "Rage," Trump says the job of a president is "to keep our country safe." But in early February, Trump told Woodward he knew how deadly the virus was, and in March, admitted he kept that knowledge hidden from the public. "I wanted to always play it down," Trump told Woodward on March 19, even as he had declared a national emergency over the virus days earlier. "I still like playing it down, because I don't want to create a panic." If instead of playing down what he knew, Trump had acted decisively in early February with a strict shutdown and a consistent message to wear masks, social distance and wash hands, experts believe that thousands of American lives could have been saved. The startling revelations in "Rage," which CNN obtained ahead of its September 15 release, were made during 18 wide-ranging interviews Trump gave Woodward from December 5, 2019 to July 21, 2020. The interviews were recorded by Woodward with Trump's permission, and CNN has obtained copies of some of the audio tapes. https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/09/politics/bob-woodward-rage-book-trump-coronavirus/index.html

  15. Justice Department wants to defend Trump in E. Jean Carroll defamation lawsuit (CNN)The US Justice Department, in an extraordinary move on Tuesday, asked to take over the defense of President Donald Trump in a defamation lawsuit filed against him by E. Jean Carroll, a woman who has accused Trump of sexual assault. While the alleged sexual assault occurred long before Trump became President, the Justice Department argued that it must take over because Trump's comments spurring the defamation lawsuit came while he was in office. The move -- defending Trump at taxpayer expense -- comes amid ongoing criticism that the Justice Department has acted in the President's personal interests. The request and possible change of lawyers could further delay the lawsuit, or even kill it entirely. Should the Justice Department be allowed to take over, it could mean the end of Carroll's lawsuit as the federal government can't be sued for defamation, noted CNN legal analyst and University of Texas law school professor Steve Vladeck. https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/08/politics/e-jean-carroll-trump-lawsuit/index.html

  18. Cuomo says Trump 'caused' New York coronavirus outbreak New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo claimed Tuesday that President Trump “caused” the coronavirus outbreak in New York by not banning travel from Europe sooner -- the latest in an escalation of words between the politicians. "Donald Trump caused the COVID outbreak in New York,” Cuomo said during a press briefing. “That is a fact. It’s a fact that he admitted, and the CDC admitted, and Fauci admitted.” “In mid-March the federal government does the travel ban from Europe,” the Democratic governor said. “Too little too late, Mr. President.” He called Trump’s CDC, National Institutes of Health and Department of Homeland Security “incompetent.” “The virus killed many more Americans than anything you were worried about on the southern border,” he said. “This nation loses more people per day to COVID than any nation on the globe.” “You know who did that? Donald Trump’s incompetence,” he added. “And now, they won’t provide federal funding to help repair the damage from the ambush they created.” Cuomo added that Trump is “trying to kill” New York City, pointing to a cap in SALT deductions from the Trump tax cuts. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cuomo-trump-caused-new-york-coronavirus Senate GOP unveils slimmed-down coronavirus bill, with McConnell pushing for vote this week New plan expected to cost $500 billion, compared to the House's $3 trillion plan The bill includes an extra $300 per week in unemployment benefits through Dec. 27 -- down from the $600 weekly boost that expired at the end of July -- a second round of Paycheck Protection Program funds to small businesses worth $258 billion, $105 billion for schools and colleges, and McConnell's liability protection plan that would limit lawsuits against businesses from employees or customers who contract COVID-19. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/senate-gop-coronavirus-relief-bill-mcconnell

Gordon Chang warns China 'configuring its military to kill Americans' Chang urged Trump to decouple the US economy from China Chang's comments follow a recent Pentagon report suggesting that China is planning to double its stockpile of nuclear warheads in this decade -- including those designed for ballistic missiles and that can reach the U.S. "I think China believes it needs to move fast and that means we’re going to see problems not in the 2030s, we’re going to see problems now." — Gordon Chang "[President] Xi Jinping has been talking increasingly about this notion that China has a mandate of heaven to rule the world," Chang explained. "They [beleive that they] not only have the right to do it, they have the obligation to do it. "He’s become very specific about this in public and so have his officials, which means that they are trying to change the international system, not to compete within it," Chang said.
