  1. I am a Canes fan, but you have to give Tebow a lot of credit. He is a great college QB. I think that he will go back to the Gators. He is absolutely adored by the Gator Nation. Based on that he is set for life without even going to the NFL. As to whether he would be successful in the NFL, I don't know. He certainly has talent and drive. If a team is willing to run an offense like the Gators, maybe he could play as an every down QB. I could see him running the wildcat as QB for around 10 plays a game and being used as an H Back. You could get pretty creative with him. The one liners that some of you posted reminded me of some that a Gator friend of mine sent me a while back. I hate the fact that the Gators won last night, but some of these are pretty funny:
  2. Buftex, I agree with you. It is a very compelling show. It has everything that I like: football, interesting and thoughtful story lines, and a lot of very attractive women. I will miss this show when it is over -- whether it is sooner or later. In the meantime, I am a Dillon Panther fan in addition to being a Buffalo Bills fan.
  3. I do not know about that, but I do know that the guy who plays Coach Taylor was born in Buffalo.
  4. Clear eyes, full hearts. My second favorite football team is the Dillon Panthers. It has been a very good season. The last episode plays on DTV this coming week. If you have not seen it, I also recommend watching it when it starts on NBC. It will be interesting to see whether the show continues and what they do given that many of the central characters are graduating.
  5. We do need a good tight end.
  6. Simple. We have a great need at center. Is there any center worth taking ahead of Taylor Mays at pick 11. Last I heard, the top center(s) in this years draft do not even have a first round grade. I would much rather get value for a pick than reach. It also has an effect on the cap. In life, do you spend more for something than you have to?
  7. My two cents - draft for value and do not reach for need. If Taylor Mays is the best player on the board when we pick, we either pick him or trade down. If I were picking, I would not have any problem picking him. With our luck, he will be picked by San Fran just before we pick -- just like they did with Willis.
  8. I have been watching Ed Reed since he started playing for the Canes. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time. He is a game changer. I have no idea what play that other poster* was talking about, but Ed Reed saved a season for the Canes in the dying moments of a game against Boston College. Both players are very good (Troy and Ed Reed). I also would not be upset at all if the Bills drafted Taylor Mays. At least on the college level, he is a man among boys. * Regarding that poster's characterization of those Canes teams as overrated, those teams had plenty of talent - just ask the NFL GMs who drafted so many of those guys. Unfortunately, the Canes have been piss poor these past few years.
  9. I used to go to sports bars here in Miami when I could not go to the games in Buffalo. I hated having to beg to have the Bills game on and then have to watch it without the sound. For me, the Sunday Ticket is the way to go if you cannot go to the game in person. I prefer being frustrated at home rather than at a sports bar.
  10. They should burn the current ones.
  11. As long as they are the Buffalo Bills, I will be watching.
  12. Is this a repeat of the same thread we had a few weeks back? PP is an average NFL LB right now. He essentially is about to complete his first NFL season. There is still hope that he can be a very good LB. Based on what I have seen so far, he is no Patrick Willis. He is no Shane Conlan. He is a guy who has a habit of running around blockers, overpursuing, and making tackles downfield. I have not given up hope yet. Nevertheless, I cannot get that play out of my head when Clinton Portis ran over him at the goal line in the preseason. Portis just wanted to get into the endzone more than PP wanted to make a tackle.
  13. I do not know how this is going to play out, but it is going to be interesting to see how many PSLs Dallas and the two New Jersey teams are going to be able to sell in this economy. Jerry Jones may have picked the wrong time to open the new Dallas stadium There also was an interesting article in the NY Times a few months ago about how long time Giant fans are being priced out of the new stadium. The article featured a 40 year + season ticket holder of the Giants who reminded me of a lot of Bills fans. Salt of the earth. He made going to Giant games a family event for him and his sons for years and years. He got his fancy brochure for the new stadium and realized that neither he nor his sons would be able to afford the thousand and thousands of dollars that the Giants wanted for the PSLs for his lower deck 40 yard line seats. The Giants offered to put him in the upper deck. He decided that, rather than spend the money, he would just watch the games with his family on his big screen tv. He and other fans are bitter about the way that the average fan has been treated. As time goes by, the core group of fans are being priced out of going to games. That is not good for the game, the NFL, or the individual teams.
  14. Lee Evans is a very good receiver and I am glad that he is on our team. Yet, when the other team wants to take him away, they can. That is one of the reasons why Josh Reed is so important to this team.
  15. You do realize that we are talking about the Jerry Sullivan that works for the Buffalo News, don't you?!?
  16. Hey, who was/has been more important to the Bills: Bill Polian or Jeff Littman?
  17. 1. They told Bledsoe that he would not have the opportunity to compete for the job and that it was JP's. 2. Trent is a much better QB in less than two years in the league than JP has or ever will be.
  18. Unlike JP, he was not given the job. He earned it.
  19. FWIW, although this is probably an unpopular view on this board, I am probaby ok with DJ staying as coach -- unless the Bills got a big time coach (e.g., someone like a Cowher, Billy B, Marty S, Parcells, etc.) which in all likelihood is not going to happen). Rather than blow the thing up, we are probably better off keeping him rather than hiring someone other than a big time coach.
  20. You are right about that. He did sort of look like Neo dodging bullets.
  21. He may as well get some game experience.
  22. Did you say: MORE OF THE SAME I know exactly where you are coming from. I have lived with this team my entire life. I went through all of the down days and the Super Bowl years. As I told my uncle when my first son was born: I feel sorry for Nicholas. Because of me, he is going to grow up a Buffalo Bills fan and will be faced with misery his entire life. My NY Met fan uncle (who hates the Yankees) thought for a moment and said: Go ahead and make him a Yankee fan. They are world series champions about 25% of the time and your son will be on easy street.
