  1. I just got my "Bills in Toronto" e-mail. Of course, the word Buffalo does not appear anywhere in the e-mail. Last time I checked, the team is called the Buffalo Bills -- whether they play in Buffalo, Miami, New England, New Jersey, or Toronto.
  2. I outsmarted mom (at least for a while). I put them in my magazine rack in between my Sports Illustrateds.
  3. When Mayock or Gil Brandt comment on the draft, I pay attention. Both those guys know how to evaluate players.
  4. I have never been a big JP guy, but I have to believe that someone will bring him into camp at the very least. Whether he ends up sticking around, that is another story. He really is going to have to show someone that he is worth it as a back up. I don't expect him to get the kind of contract that he and his agent would expect. It probably will be whatever the minimum is for his years of service. It also probably will be a team with a coach who thinks that he can correct the flaws in his game. JP has some talent. His flaws have been well documented. We certainly should never have traded what we did to get him. Although I am not a big JP guy, I do wish him well. Whatever happens, he has made a ton of money so I cannot feel too sorry for him.
  5. As someone else posted, Mike Mayock loves Ayers and thinks that he will end up being the best or one of the best defensive players in the draft.
  6. FWIW, draftcountdown.com has us taking Pettigrew, Unger, and Kruger with our top three picks. They said that ideally we get Pettigrew by trading down. I could live with that. On Sirius yesterday, they were raving about Pettigrew and that he is just a darn good football player. They also seemed to think that Billy B would love to get him.
  7. Has anyone been able to locate Sullivan yet? Is he still AWOL after blowing off Sirius NFL radio yesterday? He should write a column about unprofessional reporters blowing off radio commitments.
  8. Did he really miss his spot on Sirius?!? I find it hilarious that a guy who is always complaining about the actions of others missed calling in to a radio program. It is not like he even had to show up at the Sirius studios. All he had to do is call in. Did his dog eat his cell phone.
  9. It would be different if his opinion was a good one. More often than not, it is just a rant.
  10. Let's put this in perspective. I have never said that Welker is not a good WR. Quite the contrary. In a sense, you are making my point for me. Billy B knew what the Dolphins had on their hands, plucked him away as a restricted free agent, and knows how to use him. It is very difficult to get full stats for the number of times a WR was a target. I have only been able to find a site that lists the top WR targets. Last year, for example, Welker was the target 149 times. TO was the target 140 times. Randy Moss was the target 125 times. The only Buffalo Bill on the list was Evans at 102 times. Needless to say, over the years, Roscoe has not gotten nearly as many opportunities as these guys or even Josh Reed. The Catch Percentage stat is easier to find. Catch percentage for 2005-2008 2005 Catch Percentage Roscoe 60% Evans 53% TO 51% Moss 63% Welker 56% Reed 60% 2006 Catch Percentage Roscoe 58% Evans 60% TO 56% Moss 54% Welker 67% Reed 71% 2007 Catch Percentage Roscoe 60% Evans 49% TO 57% Moss 61% Welker 77% Reed 59% 2008 Catch Percentage Roscoe 53% Evans 62% TO 50% Moss 61% Welker 75% Reed 71% Clearly, Roscoe can catch the ball and his career stats show that he can. He certainly is not on the field as much as the others and is often the third or fourth option on passing plays when he is on the field. If JP Losman is your QB or your QB is in his first or second year, you certainly are not going to get as many opportunities if you are third or fourth on the QBs progression. Here are my main reasons for wanting to keep Roscoe: 1. He is one of the best punt returners in the HISTORY of the NFL. Average drive start (to me) is one of the most important stats in the NFL. 2. If we are only going to get a fourth, fifth or even a third draft choice for him, what the hell is the point. 3. He has an extremely cap friendly deal. 4. Roscoe together with the other WRs that we can put on the field are going to cause huge headaches for opposing defensive coordinators. Who is going to cover whom? I cannot wait to see the mismatches. 5. Roscoe (and our offense's potential) is only limited by Schonert's imagination and the ability of our restructered offensive line to protect the QB. 6. Who are we going to have return punts? For those of you who played football, you know that returning punts is perhaps one of the most dangerous jobs in football. Do we really want McKelvin returning punts?!? I certainly don't want him returning punts more than a handful of times at most. I can guaranty that, if we do trade him, especially to a team that would know how to use him, we will tremendously regret that we traded him. I can only imagine if Billy B got his hands on Roscoe. It would be a nightmare trying to cover Moss, Welker, and Roscoe. I would rather that we create the nightmares by having TO, Evans, Roscoe, and Reed.
  11. How many times did the Dolphins throw to Welker and how many times did we throw to Roscoe??????????????
  12. Not to mention the better field position he gives our drive starts (one of the most underrated stats in the game).
  13. To be fair, Welker's production skyrocketed once he started playing for the Pats and with Moss and Brady (and then Cassel). We have no Billy B's running our offense. The fact that Billy B went out and got Welker from the Dolphins compared to the Bills now apparently wanting to trade Roscoe is a very good illustration why Billy B is so much better than anything that we have at OBD.
  14. FWIW, in response to essentially the same argument, I posted a stat during the 2007 season from a site that has catch percentages for each receiver a couple of years ago (percentage of balls thrown to a receiver that were caught). According to that stat, Roscoe's hands were better than Evans'. I am too lazy to look it up right now. The fact is the Bills hardly throw to him His hands are fine. When he gets the ball in his hands (whether returning punts or receiving), he can turn a game around or break it open. He also has a very cap friendly deal. The Bills would be stupid to trade him. Imagine the mismatches that we could create with him, TO, and Evans (not to mention Reed). The Bills should be salivating at what they could do with these weapons. Instead, we are shopping one of the best punt returners in the history of the game. This is stupid. If they do trade him, it is highly likely they are going to look very stupid when he is playing for a team that knows how to use him.
  15. No matter what his stature is, he is still one of the best returners in the history of the NFL. I would have thought a town like Buffalo that typically appreciates underdogs and special teams would not have so many Roscoe bashers/haters (at least on this board).
  16. He is very good at what he does and will be missed on the NFL Network if he ends up leaving. From the sounds of it, he is still under contract and they are purposely sitting him until his contract is up or they resolve whatever issues there are. This time of year is when you would expect him to be on the NFL Network almost 24/7.
  17. I am (or was) looking forward to TO, Evans, Roscoe, and Josh out on the field at the same time.
  18. Good move for what he is. When he was with the Dolphins a few years back, he was decent.
  19. It should also be noted that this is the same guy that claimed earlier in the week that the Broncos had not tried to contact him. Not surpisingly (except maybe to Cutler), the Broncos let it be known that they have the telephone records that show otherwise.
  20. As a side note, whenever the issue of pot comes up, I think of what happened to Ricky Williams. Wanstedt ran him right into the ground. Being an ex RB, I knew what it was like to play the position in high school. I can only imagine the pounding Ricky got each game in the NFL. Based on this, I always felt sorry for Ricky (seems like a good guy) and understood why he might have needed to lighten the pain.
  21. FWIW, the agent for Clay Matthews is refuting the story and also states that the NFL has not been notified of any player testing positive for steroids (at least not as of yet). See pft.com
  22. It really is not surprising that someone named Raji smokes the ganja. (It also does not surprise me that a college kid has smoked the ganja). To answer your question, I would not mind it at all if we picked him based on what I have read about him as a player. I think it will depend on how the Bills evaluate him as both a player and a kid. As others have pointed out, the same situation did not hamper Warren Sapp's career.
