  1. Has anyone heard/seen what they got for Winslow?
  2. The thing that bothers me is that we created a hole with no guaranty that we are going to be able to fill it with someone who is going to be an upgrade. They should have waited until they had an upgrade. I would hate to have start a rookie or a re-tread at left guard. I just hope they are able upgrade the left guard position - otherwise they are going to look pretty stupid.
  3. I am a Hurricane through and through and hate the friggen Gators. I will say this, however, they do have a lot of "talent" on campus.
  4. I was conflicted about this. I also agree with the poster who commented that they probably limited it to one RB in an attempt to avoid OJ making the team. I was torn between OJ and Thurman. A case could be made for both. I ended voting for Thurman not because of off the field, but because of Thurman's importance to the no huddle offense as well as his career stats. Without Thurman (in my view), there would have been no K-Gun offense. He was the one who created the mismatches because of his ability in both the running and passing games. They should have had two RBs on the team though. The Juice was the most exciting guy that I personally have seen run the football. It was a thing of beauty. Just like I really enjoyed Gilbert winding up around our net and skating down ice. It was exciting.
  5. My wife is always telling me that I forget the things that she says she has told me. The thing that I recall about Conlan that I liked was that he could fill a hole and take on blockers. That quality is what I see missing in PP. I was very excited about getting him back healthy. I thought that he would have a great year. I also remember reading articles about how pumped up he was etc. Then, in that meaningless preseason game, I saw him get run over by Portis at the goal line. I was amazed that Portis (of all people) seemed to want to score a TD in a meaningless game more than the guy who had everything to prove wanted anything to do with stopping him. This had nothing to do with surrounding talent etc. This had everything to do with desire. This was man on man - LB against RB - just like the drills we used to do in practice. That is when I started to get concerned and noticed during the season that he had a habit of trying to run around blockers.
  6. If you guys really believe that PP is as good as Conlan, go ahead and believe that. I think that you guys are foolish to believe that, but that is my two cents. I also hope that PP improves. As I mentioned earlier, I have not given up on him. Yet, I do believe that that he has a lot to prove this year. By the way, the other LB I mentioned was Patrick Willis. I seriously hope that none of you think that PP has been as good as Willis.
  7. I happened to watch his show on NYC last night. It was very good. He also went to some neighborhood places that made me think of Buffalo and that he might actually like going to Buffalo. It was ironic read the original post just now.
  8. Nice try. So I will go ahead and mark you down as someone who thinks PP is as good as Conlan. In my view, Shane Conlan was an impact player -- while PP has been anything but. I really hope that he turns it around though. I would love to see him stuff some holes and stop running around blockers leaving gaping holes for the opposing team's rbs. That would be a nice start.
  9. How many of Conlan's tackles were five to ten yards down field. Conlan also did not have a habit of getting run over by anyone or of runnin around blockers and not filling holes. We can only hope that PP becomes the type of LB that Conlan was. I really hope that he does.
  10. When I saw that play, I said to myself that pro bowler Clinton Portis wanted to get into the endzone in that preseason game more than PP wanted to stop him. Portis ran right over him. That is when I started to get worried. As for the rest, I do not hate PP. I hope that he does improve and play up to the way we all hoped that he would play.
  11. Interesting post. Yet, it would have been nice not to have seen him run over by Clinton Portis at the goal line in the preseason. I would love to see the guy take on blockers more rather than try to run around them. I have not given up on PP, but I certainly would have liked to have seen him perform better. At this stage in his career, he certainly is no Patrick Willis or Shane Conlan (the guy he is most often compared to). It was essentially his rookie year. He got a lot of experience. I really hope that he steps it up this year.
  12. This is a case of the Fins engaging in catch and release.
  13. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  14. This makes no sense to me. I would be shocked if this happened. Although I believe that Cassell is a good QB, I also think Trent is a good one and is only going to get better. Why give up a first round draft choice for Cassell when we have far greater needs.
  15. We all saw how smoking pot hurt Michael Phelps in his quest for gold. We waste a lot of money enforcing drug laws that make little sense. I wonder how much of the arrest resulted from the fact that the cops saw a few black guys in a Mercedes. Just asking. Having said all that, ML (to use A-Roid's line) is young and stupid. Why these guys risk the millions that they make is beyond me.
  16. A story from a few years back illustrates the point of the original post. The Florida Panthers used to play in the Miami Arena. The Miami Arena was a great place to watch games, but in a pretty rough neighborhood. When the Panthers were still playing their games there, a mother and daughter went to a game. After the game, they discovered that they had a flat tire. As time wore on and the parking lot emptied, they got more and more worried about their safety. Ultimately, they were alone in the parking lot (because all of the fans had left) until a couple of Panthers -- John Vanbiesbrouck and someone else happened to come by. This is the point in the story where one probably could predict what most [insert name of sport] players would do. In this case, Vanbiesbrouck and the other guy changed the woman's tire themselves.
  17. If you want to see Peters' value to the team, watch the last game of the 2007 season against the Giants. Compare what happened before he got hurt and after he got hurt.
  18. Nice Cheers reference.

  20. I totally agree.
  21. That is particularly freudian -- pencil eraser.
  22. I am too lazy to read all of the posts. It probably already has been mentioned, but I thought that the last episode of Seinfeld (a show that I loved) was horrible.
  23. The short answer to you question is - NO. The long answer is - HELL NO.
  24. Probably - based on the clips I have seen (although I always like the King of Queens). I just hope Nick has points based on the opening that it did. He is a good guy.
