  1. I agree. McCain is a class act and he showed it last night. Unfortunately, he did not win the nomination in 2000. I am convinced the world and this country would be in much better shape if he had. As a Repbublican, I believe that W has been a disaster - both to the country and the Republican party. McCain did very well considering that W was such an albatross to both McCain and every other Republican running. Obama owes much of his victory to George W. Bush. W (and the Republican party) had a great opportunity to institute much of the paleoconservative and libertarian agenda. Both he and they squandered that opportunity.
  2. A little trivia: Rahm Emanuel's brother is Ari Emanuel. He is an agent. "Ari" in Entourage is based on him. To put it mildly, both brothers have "strong" personalities. As for Sarah Palin, I thought that a lot of the criticism of her was way over the top. Although I think that she has an engaging personality, I think that she fails the readiness test. She reportedly was not on the top of McCain's list but was picked to placate one faction of the "base." In fact, McCain was warned that if he picked someone like Ridge, Bloomberg, or Lieberman, there would be a riot at the convention. As I have said before, I really hope that the Republican party gets back to its paleoconservative and libertarian roots. In the meantime, I hope that Obama governs at the center. If he does that, he has an opportunity to be a successful president.
  3. I hope that he does well. I hope that he learned from Clinton's mistakes in his first two years. If he governs at the center (where most people are in this country), he could be very successful. It was an historic election. It says a lot about this country. As a republican who thinks that W was one of the worst presidents in the history of the United States, I wish Obama well. He certainly would be hard pressed to be worse than W. He has a chance to be great if he governs at the center.
  4. Actually, it is my understanding Obama only produced a doctor's note. He has not produced all of his medical records unless he has done so since the last time I read about this.
  5. It was pretty funny.
  6. I have made up my mind that I have serious questions about whether he is ready to be president of the United States. I have not made up my mind for whom I am going to vote for president, if at all. As a paleoconservative, I do not favor Obama's tax policy or what I fear will be McCain's foreign policy given that he has surrounded himself with neoconservatives. As for the rest, I was pointing out both the hypocrisy of Obama and the media. The media has largely given him a free pass. The best thing that I can say about this election is at least W willl no longer be president. He has done enough damage to the country and the Republican party. The worst thing that can happen for the country would be an unchecked Obama, Reid, and Pelosi. I just hope that the Republican party can get back to its paleoconservative, libertarian roots.
  7. Prostitution was around at the beginning of time and will be around at the end of time. We may as well tax it.
  8. You really believe that. Fine. By the way, were any of you guys invited to his swearing in as a United States senator? I wonder how many other Kenyan women from Boston housing projects were there. I suppose it is just a coincidence that this woman is even mentioned in his memoirs -- and so lovingly. This brings up another question. How many of you guys have written your memoirs? How many of you have written two of them? Note: I am not 100% or even 75% happy with either of these candidates. Yet, this story shows how dems love to take other people's money and talk a good game, but when it comes down to it, they are hypocrites just like most politicians. This reminds me of that "scrappy son of Scranton" (Biden) who I heard has made $2.5 million in the past 26 years, but in all that time has donated only 3-4k to charity. As an aside, do any of you guys know why Obama never visited his mother while she was on her death bed? Do any of you guys know why he only visited his grandmother for an hour in August and did not bother bringing his wife or kids with him? The whole thing seems so odd for the messiah. The media has spent a lot of time on whether Palin is the mother of trig and the clothes she wears as well as Cindy McCain's prior prescription drug problem, but it does not appear to want to dig deep with the guy who is probably going to be the next leader of the free world. If he wins, I really hope that he turns out to be a great president (we certainly have had a sh*tty one these past almost 8 years) and that he, in fact, was born in the U.S. (another issue the media has paid scant attention to).
  9. Exactly. Isn't there a contradiction with your statement that he barely knows her.
  10. She was at his swearing in when he became a senator.
  11. One of his reasons for voting for Obama was that would be the furthest change from the current occupant of the White House. That is how a lot of people are making their decision. That just goes to show you just how badly W has f*cked up these past eight years and how much damage he has done to the Republican party.
  12. His stand against the decision to go to war is one of the things with which I agree with Obama.
  13. It is funny how he wants to take our money to "spread the wealth", but he won't help out his Aunt Zeituni or Uncle Omar who are living in poverty and about whom he wrote in his memoirs. It also is odd that it was the London Times that broke this story (and not an American paper). I am sure that if they were on the campaign plane, they have been kicked off already.
  14. If some of you guys lived through the Bills/Dolphins series in the 1970's, you would understand. Also, if you were at the game that we finally beat them at Rich Stadium and went on the field after the game, you would understand.
  15. He also was on Sirius this morning. Apparently there was a Hunter's Hope function in NYC. On Sirius, he spoke about the following: 1. Most of the interview was about testing for childhood diseases. Jim has been lobbying for the states to increase the number of diseases that are tested at birth and spoke about how many lives can be saved each year. He was about as passionate and eloguent as I have heard him. 2. Peter King mentioned that getting Tasker into the HOF was one of King's pet projects over the years. They talked about the impact that Tasker had on the outcome of games and that he would have been one of the best wide outs in the league if he had played that position full time. 3. They talked about how important it is to win the next two games - both against division opponents. 4. Jim really likes Trent Edwards. He likes the way he goes through his progressions. He believes that Trent has proved that his arm is strong enough for Buffalo. He would like to see the line give him better protection and Trent step up in the pocket and throw the ball away to avoid getting hit. 5. Jim talked about how important it is to keep the Bills in Buffalo. He mentioned how he has spoken to Ralph about this and plans on speaking to him again after the season. He says that Ralph would like to keep the Bills in Buffalo. He also reiterated that he has the people who are willing to "step up to the plate" to keep the Bills in Buffalo.
  16. I totally agree with about 98% of what you say. I disagree regarding the decision to go to war though. It was one of the worst if not the worst decisions that an administration has ever made for so many reasons - not the least of which was that we decided to focus our resources on someone that had nothing to do with 9/11 rather than those responsible and in the process lost thousands of wonderful and brave Americans, a trillion dollars, and the goodwill of the world. As someone who became a Republican because of Ronald Reagan and Milton Friedman, I am very concerned about the Republican Party. W is not a conservative, he allowed himself to be controlled by the neoconservatives, and, in the process, destroyed the party and did real damage to this Country. I have not made a final decision about what I am going to do on November 4th, but I am very concerned about the fact that McCain has surrounded himself with neoconservative foreign policy advisors rather than people like Brent Scowcroft.
  17. I have not read all of the posts so I do not know if this has been mentioned. Where is her family? I think that you have to help -- especially given that you are friends with her. You also are going to need help. This does not sound like you are going to be able to do this all by yourself.
  18. I hope that the guy comes back and is 100%. I actually think that he seems like a pretty good guy. Also, as someone else posted, it will not be as satisfying to beat them if he is not the QB.
  19. Australia is a great country with great people and lots of talent. You will love it. A friend of mine from South Africa once gave me very good advice. If you treat an Australian girl well, she will return the favor. Australian men have a reputation for being chauvinists who also would much prefer to go to the pubs and drink with their mates. There is an old joke about this. [Keep in mind that Australians have short hand for everything. Examples: Bruce - guys; Sheila - girls; John - an English guy; Sepo - an American (from septic tank). They also have an "earthy" sense of humor.] In any event, the joke is as follows: Sheila called Bruce to tell him that she is pregnant and that if he does not marry her, she is going to jump off the Sydney bridge. Bruce responded: Sheila, not only are you a good %#*@, you are a good sport.
  20. FWIW, Bobby April calls our punt return team the "Rangers," our kickoff return team the "Navy Seals," and our punt coverage team "Delta Force." Rangers, Navy Seals, Delta Force It is not the first time that millitary references have been used in Football and it will not be the last -- by a long shot. Yet, if someone is biased against Bobby April (or Winslow), they could decide to feign disgust and proclaim: How dare he use military references when our troops are fighting a war. Get over it. Winslow was not disrespecting our troops.
  21. The NFL Network is showing the Bills/Chargers game right now with the missing action from NFL Films. It will be shown again. My apologies if this already has been posted.
  22. What he said.
  23. W is not a conservative. Except for the tax cuts, I see very little that would indicate that he is a conservative.
