PFW: Tom Coughlin the favorite to replace Rex Ryan

Are we really going to hire another coach, who went his last 4 seasons without making the playoffs. -

Good post. Why not rip on the fish? They have been a nearly equal disaster this century. And the Jets have given some incredibly juicy material to poke fun at many many seasons. Man I miss Felser too. But it is easier to write something positive about the home team when you have a normal cycle of making the playoffs every 4-5 years. I remember growingn up in the 70s & 80s when My father and uncle used to complain that it was a tough time period to be Bills fan. Ahh the good old days. My crappy luck. That I have 3 idiot sisters who married a Fish fan and 2 completely ignorant Patriots fans between them. Neither of those morons knew what a 1st down was until NE fell into TB & BB. Now they're experts. Seeing the whole family over the Holidays for the first time in about 2 years. Christmas is going to get ugly after a few drinks. God I hope the Bills kick the heck out of Miami to save a little dignity. And I live in So. Florida with a 11 year old daughter and 1/2 her friends like both NE and MIA. Same kids say their 2 favorite teams are Dolphins and Patriots. My daughter tries to explain to them that they must be retarded to lime 2 teams in the same division. But they don't get it. Sorry to go Off. Some pent up issues, in case you can't tell. -
In what order do these four need to go:
Reks Ryan replied to jester43's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jester really asked 2 questions. Who is most accountable. Which I'll take as most responsible for not making the playoffs This year. And who needs to go. IOW who is the biggest obstacle to long term success. Here's my order for both questions Most accountable this year? 1. Tyrod- cannot consistently beat good teams with a QB who doesn't see open receivers running down the middle of the field and who doesn't stand in the pocket. 2. Whaley - even before injuries the back end of the roster was extremely weak. 3. Rex - Defemse is not good. team folded after Raiders pun he then in the mouth, didn't show up for Steelers game, and truly came out super flat in must win against Jafs too. Brandon - he influenced pick of Rex for hesd coach Need to go / biggest obstacle? personally I like all 4 guys, but when you really think about it, all of the above should go for the franchise to become winners 1. Brandon - losing and dysfunctional franchise since he has been here. You can argue the level of influence he has on football operations, but he has a major role in the organization that has failed time and time again on the field with Russ at the top. 2. Whaley - excellent scout. It is apparent that he doesn't understand how to build a winning roster for today's NFL. 3. Ryan- Bad on field communication. No playoffs for 6 straight years and career losing record. At Some point it's not just injuries and bad luck. 4'- Tyrod - truly an afterthought for this discussion. Need fundamental Change to the way the franchise is run. Of course Tyrod is not the guy to lead the team -
Honest question QB for Marcel D.?
Reks Ryan replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am continuously amazed at how this board over values the talent on the Bills. Seriously tell me who these great players are and why don't they show up for the games? Yes I know Rex is a below average coach and puts guys out of position on many plays. But at some point great or even very good players just beat their man and make a big play. How many times did Bell run down the field 5 or 10 yards before anyone touched him. We have many guys on our roster that would have trouble making any other squad in the league. Brandon Spikes for God's sake. It is like playing with 10 men when he is on the field. To the point about the trade, forget about a trade for a QB, name a Bills Defensive player who is under contract for next year that would bring back any good trade value? -
Funny. They do look like Milli Vanilli

Kevon Seymour starting - good

Gilmore had huge game changing breakdowns in 2 home division losses to Jets and NE. I would say he was the player most to blame for those 2 losses. It seems that the last few weeks he decided to go after the big pay day and has played with more intensity. I want him on the team and will be disappointed if he signs somewhere else. Everyone gets beat sometimes in the NFL and he is one of the better CBs in the league. But his inconsistent effort is the difference between the very top guys like Sherman and Norman. Those 2 get beat on occasion too, but their high intensity and willingness and desire to hit is contagious to their teammates. -
I missed that one. Good story. Going for it on 4th down late in the 1st half and J Will making a strong run to lead to McCoy's 1st TD. Gave us momentum and important points. On a personal note, found a Bills bar in S. Florida and enjoyed the day with friends and family. Always more fun with a victory.

Interesting stat just presented on WGR
Reks Ryan replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes the Bills are 22nd in 3rd down defense allowing over 42% of the time. And it sure seems like most of those are 3rd and 6 or more. The inability for the D to get off the field has been worse than the Offense's difficulty sustaining drives. BTW Miami is 1st in 3rd down D only allowing 33% and Oakland is 4th @ 35%. -
10 - 6 would mean winning 6 out of last 7 and would be highly encouraging. It would take the Bills performing at a higher and more consistently good level than the team has in a generation. I don't see how the majority of fan base would not be encouraged. Although extremely disappointed about still missing playoffs. The argument about how they win the games is a bit silly. If they win 6 out 7 and finish 10 - 6. It will take some good football. And winning is what matters. Rather win 6 games by a field goal each, than dominate a few ganes and also lose a few heartbreakers

Top Songs That Remind You Of Being A Bills Fan

The Bills absolutely do not have as much talent as Oakland, especially when you give added weight to the QB position. If the Raiders play up to their ability when our team visits Oakland the Bills will be overmatched. And it's not like Carr was a top 5 pick. Coaching is a factor, but in today's game the Patriots players were just better than the Bills. Coming out of camp we had big questions and very little depth. There were probably at least 5 guys on the opening day 53 who would've had a hard time making any other team. The talent is not playoff level. Ultimately this comes back to Whaley

Week 8 predictions: Patriots at Bills
Reks Ryan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow. This game has brought out the pessimism more than normal. Understandable, but... Bad Guys held to field goals on several drives. Bills make a play in the clutch. Buffalo wins 24 -23 -
Yep.

I was at the game and Tyrod was not good. Inaccurate even on some of the completions the ball placement did not allow for run after catch. He also was not as Dynamic as normal creating plays with scrambles. The lack turnovers are a plus, but against the Fish there were several plays where he needed to throw it in there and give receivers a chance to make a play. 2 plays where an accurate throw to Hunter in the end zone could've been scores. It's getting close to the point where the team needs to admit he is what he is.

Great article about the Bills-Browns playoff game in 1989

Either the Bills or the Browns played in the AFC Championship for 8 straight years. The cycle should come back around eventually. -

The lack of turnovers is a very underrated part of his game. Tyrod takes care of the ball. Even more important as a winning combination if the D keeps up the quality play of the last 2 weeks. There are still doubts if he can progress to the next level, but many QBs make many more mistakes as they are learning and gaining experience

He has been the best and most consistent player on the team. 1sr QTR of season MVP. It's hard to imagine that Ragland could've played better

CJ Spiller visiting Jets (Update - cut by Seattle)
Reks Ryan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ah yes. Back to the draft where we somehow had big needs at almost every key position. But at least we had 2 good RBs in their prime. So of course the Bills use a 1st on Spiller to make sure the Seahawks farm team is fully stocked. It is good to see that all 3 were eventually called up to the big league team. In that move plus several others it showed that Chan and Buddy did not understand the principles of building a successful NFL roster -

Pettine was an asst the last 6 years Rex was in Baltimore. And he was the DC first 4 years of Rex w Jets. Could be that Pettine is able to communicate the scheme and help players execute in a way that Rex is not capable on his own.
