Hey Marrone - Start Bryce Brown!
34-78-83 replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spiller is running just fine this season. The Bills need improvement (to a large degree) at the guard position, and it shows no matter which back is in the backfield. That is not to say I don't think Brown is ALSO a good back. -
Perfectly stated

NFL Rewind ReWatch - Counting EJ Unforced Errors
34-78-83 replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember 4 or 5 unforced errors directly on EJ ( not 11) and 4 drops not on him. Good breakdown overall... -
Stubborness about Pears will get Marrone fired
34-78-83 replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt it would get him fired but agreed 100% Pears is not good at all at guard. He's nice depth at Right Tackle ...that is all -
They did this time however... ^^

Cyril Richardson hit Watt late with an elbow while he was on the ground actually. It was good to see. Tired of the choir boys letting other teams push us around or take shots without retaliation.

EJ stinks, refs blew final call and...
34-78-83 replied to r00tabaga's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
THIS^^ And then you know what ? An interception on an "overthrow" becomes what it really was- A Pass right to the spot it's supposed to go to. And a first down either by reception or penalty. Then what would the ever growing massive retard rollercoaster be saying? EJ had an up and down day in reality. A tad more up than down overall. 4 drops early on (2 by Watkins) and that non called defensive hold sure made him look a lot worse than he was. He had about 4 bad passes, maybe 5 on the day. One of them being the Int to Watt obviously. For those that have the all 22 I doubt you'll see it any differently. -
The old school Quarterback rating is certainly somewhat flawed too but it seems that the new "QBR" shows obvious blunders much more often... Back to the drawing board?
-
He's more than an also ran performer when healthy, I think that's the original point - but I get it loud and clear regarding his time on the field. And if you look around the league he's certainly better than a #2 corner (again when healthy)... and there aren't too many cb units out there (maybe 8 to 10 teams?) with better overall ability.

To your overall point, I (along with any fan) agree. However you shouldn't lump organizational choices into one broad-sweeping paint brush in with past organizational choices such as Maybin and Whitner. This current regime (in my opinion) knows how to draft good players and that shows when you start "hitting" on 40/50% of your picks...Look around the league. That's a good number. And there's a perfect example in this very 2014 draft that displays the draft position point. Sentrell Henderson 7th rd. vs. Cyrus Kouandjio 2nd round. Does it matter at ALL now ( already just months after the draft) where they were picked. Sure it mattered a lot more when the Bills weren't drafting well in the recent past.

Some good counter there... However none of what was broken down on that site would be opinion. All facts - that's what I was pointing out. I agree on the intelligence and availability concerns though for sure. Just a little too much hind sight emphasis goes on (my opinion) regarding draft slot on football message boards. There are too many variables and contradictions for any player drafted to hold an org responsible for, There have been some really fantastic intellectually challenged NFL'ers out there for one.

That and he's doing EXACTLY the right thing with EJ regarding running the ball. fighting for 2 or 3 extra yards is how he got hurt twice last season. In the grand scheme those 2 to 3 extra yards are meaningless. He would also treat it differently if it were at the end of the game with a chance to go ahead. The kid needs to be ON the field. This is absolutely the smart coaching decision regardless of if fans like it. Those same fans would B word as soon as he got hurt trying for an extra 2 or 3 yards and would blame it on the coach. Face it., we have a lot of really stupid fans just like every other team.

Thanks for the info - I thought that one pass you spoke of might have been tipped, and sure enough! (I don't have HD still )... Ignore the haters with their broad sweeping paint brushes and keep posting good stuff. It's appreciated by many.

Kyle Williams is PFF's top-rated defender for Week 3
34-78-83 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
not to detract from one of our absolute best and most consistent players, but the way PFF ranks and measures OL and DL performance is flawed. KW is absolutely a very very good to elite player, almost at all times. I love the guy. But Mario is the guy making it happen overall on the D-line, and PFF has never been very kind to him ( because again you can't use analytics to measure line play and expect it to be accurate. If KW suddenly got double-teamed all the time PFF would rank him like crap. Hey it's good to be recognized either way.... -
I'm not on board with a lot of your subsequent points after the point about how 2 guys with the same completion % can be totally different players. Just sayin'... I didn't know we'd soon be comparing EJ to Fitz... You're still right about the original point though! Lol
-
You don't need to worry how people feel about this. It is a fact. You are right and there's 100 ways to prove it as above. I say on this board probably far too many times that not everything is up for debate even though people feel that is their right...
-
I think you're right in this case. For example, you can have 2 guys with 60% completions and have one who throws very accurately but takes a ton of chances in coverage and down the field, and another who isn't accurate but has a great O-line and completes a lot of less risky passes, or has a great RAC receiver...

Colin Cowerd and Tim Hasselback
34-78-83 replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As poorly as EJ played yesterday, there is NOTHING wrong with the way he's running the ball now. He is actually being smart about it and doing it the way he's been coached up. One little rushing 1st down conversion was not going to tilt the game yesterday with the way he was throwing the ball. It might be different under different circumstances, but not in game 3 of the season. He was injured 3 times last year for doing what some of you are wanting him to do here. I repeat , he is doing it (Running the ball) exactly the way the team expects him to. -
I thought we were too obvious today and psyched ourselves out

I think this is all accurate. Good balanced post with perspective and reality. -
YOU may be doing that, but hundreds upon hundreds of others are doing just exactly what the original poster conveyed.

Matt Miller hates the Bills - Update: just hates EJ

ehh - It's all good it's a fantasy stat anyway and YAC is often by design. -

@nfldraftscout: EJ Manuel has 2nd fewest pass attempts over 20 yards among starting NFL QBs. Defenses will adjust to this, likely this week. hmmm http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?seasonType=REG&d-447263-n=1&d-447263-o=2&d-447263-p=1&d-447263-s=PASSING_20PLUS_YARDS_EACH&tabSeq=0&season=2014&experience=&Submit=Go&archive=false&conference=null&statisticCategory=PASSING&qualified=false Says otherwise - Tied for 4th most in the league -
ahh thanks! Am I the only one who thinks Tannehill is a pretty darn good qb still? He needs more help as far as I'mconcerned, but I wouldnt look to replace him...
