I still have a hunch that Pittsburgh might edge us out again this year. They are an extremely solid (and mean) defensive unit. I do think our D will turn out to be overall as good as it was last year though, with a slight improvement vs. the pass and a slight drop vs. the run.

Just some of my honest opinions- Brad, I really dig your on air personality most times. You have a fine sarcastic sense of humor that I get, though I really think you're reading too much into this.... There was a time not very long ago that we as fans were not privy to any of this information and this high level of detail about every player or coach and when he takes a leak or whether he puts his right pant leg on first or left. There are also times where we as fans and media may have certain assumptions about things that aren't necessarily as they seem. There are reasons a plenty (ask king Bill up in New England) beyond us that all these teams reveal or disguise information, and it is at their discretion and theirs alone. There are also different regulations prior to the season as to what player information can be released, and some of it is even based upon the player's discretion. There are also certain team based occurences that I have seen over the years that COULD explain a situation such as you saw with McGahee... A position coach, for example, may require a "nicked up" player to wear his uniform and participate in mental reps at his position as silly as it may seem to some. This also shows team unity and furthermore, position unity. If you haven't noticed, even Willis still lacks in a few technique areas that he could benefit from being mentally involved in drills. His blitz pickup skills do not currently match what one of his physical stature and athletic ability would be expected to be able to acheive. I often think that while I am grateful at times for the level of information we have access to, I also see where it can be a situation that becomes overkill, and possibly quite a nuisance or atleast a joke to the organization. I think if you, and especially Mike (Mr. Baseball is better than the Bills) Schopp, look around the league a bit you will see many of the same situations and occurences. I listen to your station because I am a Bills fanatic and sometimes any Bills talk = good Bills talk. Unfortunately it is only on your segment, and occasionally Howard's that I ever hear anything resembling the enjoyment of being a Bill's fan anymore. With that said though I think you need to lighten up on this one, respectfully speaking .

Tony Hunter was our flop of a TE in the early 80's. I know who you're talking about though, and I remember the doomsayers at the time. He was a former Bears FB wasn't he?

Cool... One thing I noticed overall is that all of our DB's (except #27 ) have really good form tackling technique and break on the ball well.

Nice post Simon. You missed a series of very good plays by King in the 3rd quarter (I think they clipped the game you watched right?). 2 other points- Greer may have had the best game of any Bills player. Terrance Mcgee looks to have improved a great deal in the off season.

Well that's more in line than the reports I've been hearing about him on the radio. It's funny, he seems to perform well when I go to camp

The confusion for me is always this: I listen to the Paul Hamilton reports on local WGR radio and he always talks about Reed dropping balls left and right in practice, and then when I go to camp (3 sessions this year), that proves to not be the case as he catches everything. I know what he does in the regular season has been evident but I don't understand the skewed reporting...

With all the hype I've heard about Sproles since he was drafted, I thought he was terrible last night and appears to be a long shot to ever see any significant playing time in the NFL. He doesn't even appear to be able to make the outside to the LOS when given an opportunity. I liked him in college and hope he improves though...

K Thomas aside, don't forget about the nice progress shown so far by last year's post draft FA Jabari Greer. Also there is this years draft pick King who's shown well so far in camp. There's really no need for such a move barring a couple injuries.

That's a very astute observation CD! I think you've really laid down a big part of the scheme they use and what makes Posey important for that role. I too saw the play where Milloy was upset. It looked like Posey was supposed to drift to the outside more to cover the out routes.

That is true in some situations but I don't agree at all that it's the prevailing thought at one Bills drive under this staff. Posey in fact is very inexpensive to the team for a solid, yet not spectacular starter in the 2 years running #2 D in the NFL. The better player will play under this staff and their short history has proven this to be true.

Pure and simple, if Stamer gets to a point where he becomes a better player than Posey at that position, he WILL take the starting job. The coaches we have always want to put the best players on the field. They have thousands of hours of film, hundreds of years of experience, and an up close and personal relationship with the players they coach. Stamer has done nothing but impress me since he became a Bill. He's got a ton of heart, a nose for the ball, and he's very strong. He's still a little stiff out there and has liabilities moving laterally though. I think we can have faith though that if he's the better guy, we'll see him in the lineup.

I just got through watching the 1st 3 series on Offense and I gotta say I'm very happy with how JP played. He got rid of the ball ontime, made plays on 3rd down, used his feet to get out of trouble, and threw the ball well for the most part. As someone else already stated somewhere I can see 2 facets of QB play that didn't even exist here since since Flutie (sans the weak arm). Play design is going to be so much more wide open now and defenses are really going to have to stay honest because JP can break contain. To those who could somehow rate his scrimmage performance as a negative overall, I'm not so sure you were watching the same game.
