  1. I Always value your opinions as you know but this one seems to have somewhat of a "chicken little" quality to it (IMO). 200 to 250 yards? So you're saying one player, who's atleast average replacing a very good player along with 10 returning starters on a fantastic defense with a great line coach, very good coordinator, and highly effective scheme is going to take us from giving up like 90 rush yds per game to somewhere around 150 average over the course of the season? Wow.
  2. I think Willis is guilty here of getting just a tad ahead of himself. He was a great college player, and had a fantastic year for us last year after coming off a major injury/recovery. The sky is the limit for him potential wise. The fact remains though that he has only produced for a very short period of time and really cannot YET be put in the list of guys like Tomlinson, Holmes, Alexander, etc. who have done it over multiple seasons. I am glad he is confident but he seems to consider himself "elite" just a little bit before his time has come. Remember that his contract is full of incentives that will pay him handsomely if he produces again this season. I agree that a holdout next year is highly likely, but it's sure going to be exciting this season!
  3. You guys are either crazy or too young if you don't think Madden belongs in the Hall. Simply one of the greatest and most classic coaches of all time.
  4. Special teams are not counted in the relevant D stats. Also, lets ignore yardage AND points last season and take a little gander at Forced turnovers and Sacks shall we? Where do you think the Bills might stand in that area? Conclusion: ESPN = Every Single Poll (is) Nonsense
  5. Good point as well... I feel the same way.
  6. I see, so when Bledsoe throws a pick or fumbles and it gets returned for a TD, that's the Defenses fault right? Certainly more indicative than yardage
  7. OMG get a clue man. Simon always backs his observations up with facts and if he's not sure on something, he says so. There are many of us here who DO know what were looking at most times (given our television broadcast view of the game since we can't get the Film) and Simon has proven to be very astute in these matters. You can't tell someone simply that they know nothing and expect that to be the end of it. Maybe you could refute his points with a single fact based observation of your own?
  8. Actually VA is correct in this case eball. Plus it was apparent to most at the time that Shaw wasn't reading hot route situations correctly at the time...
  9. I would agree with that. As long as he doesn't have an axe to grind (which I suppose it's possible he still might), he atleast knows x's and o's well and uses them in discussion.
  10. Stache me in your suitcase, mmmkay?
  11. Good luck to you my friend...
  12. Once again, exactly.... Notice how the relevant praise and positivity was completely left out , as if it wasn't even metioned. It's no different than using statistics
  13. I agree with that my friend. It's just that sometimes it seems more PC to be negative if you want to be considered a "true fan" and not a homer. It's all about being balanced to me but I suppose it takes all kinds.
  14. So true. Some posters seem to feel it is their duty to assume any positive posts are "homer" posts. They feel that always pointing out the negative, as obvious as it may already be, is "keeping it real".
  15. That would be more interesting if he indeed had a penchant for "staring at a single receiver"..
  16. It's his ability vs. the run that holds him back on the chart right now. That came right from Mularkey's mouth last week at camp.
  17. dude, the Bills use a TON of zone blitz in their scheme (probably second only to Pitt) and it has increased each year since Gray's arrival.
  18. You can rest assured that the Bill's staff saw him hold on for those two timely third down conversions. Both solid grabs with one including dragging the man for an extra yard or two to get the FD. Like you guys said, his blocking at the position is second to none on the team.
  19. Nice read Simon, thanks. I have been surprised thus far at the O-line's ability to pass protect. They're well ahead of where I had them figured for at this point and as you say even held up well on a few plays where JP could have stayed home longer. Anderson did make a very nice kickout on Willis's TD but you are right overall about him, and he should be more dominant in the run game than he is right now.
  20. There were three almost consecutive plays in which he .. 1- Blew up a run play in the backfield for a 2 yard loss. 2- Flushed the QB out to the right, destroying the play design and forcing an incompletion. 3- Persued latterally from a left side rush all the way over to the right to meet the ball carrier for a modest 2 yard gain. If you have the game broadcast these plays were all highlighted in slo-mo and discussed by Levy and Tasker. Making 3 great plays when you're only in the game for @ 10-15 is pretty impressive to me. BTW, Nobody in a Bill's uni was "pushed off the ball" in the Colts game. Not once.
  21. AKC, I saw the same thing you did re: Edwards in the GB game and I totally agree on your assessment of his play in that game , but I won't go as far as you and say unimpressive preseason because 1- he had a literal highlight reel in the Colts game. 2- He also played solid in the GB scrimmage, and 3- has looked good against our own line in camp.
  22. The defense on that drive was working strictly on zone techniques, as was pointed out several times by Levy during and after the drive. They didn't bring any extra rushers except for on one play where they brought Milloy. They were using a live situation as a drill basically.
  23. I've had many a disagreement with mr. VA. Sometimes he's been right, sometimes I have turned out to be the same. I have come to appreciate him in this twisted football family even considering his strange, Ray-Finkle-like affection for billboarding a player and throwing darts at his head up in the spare bedroom at Mom's house. It must be nice for Travis H now that he doesn't wake up late every night with a sudden sharp, needle like pain in his hand.
