To hell with it ... Trade the whole damn draft to get to #1 and draft the turnover king Darnold at #1 .... hell yeah.
I'm glad McBeane is the GM and not the people on this board.
If the Browns don't take Barkley at #1 he's going to the Giants at #2. The Browns have the chance of getting a superstar at #1 and one of these wart laden QB's at #4.
The Browns need to hit on a sure fire superstar at #1 ... The only one that fits that bill is Barkley. Then they can get a QB at #4. There isn't a QB in this draft that is a sure fire superstar.
At #6 the Colts get the guy they wanted at #3, Chubb, plus more picks ... they'll stay at #6 IMO.
Trading up to #8 with the Bears shouldn't cost much and should get us Allen or Mayfield.
The Jests getting smoked would be nothing new, but they'll still likely get the QB they want at #3 so they won't get smoked too bad unless the QB they draft craps the bed.
Barkley is the best player in this draft and the Browns will still have their choice of 2 out of the 4 top QB's.
Not taking Barkley #1 would be a bad move.
I agree ... This guy didn't set records in college for dropping the ball, he set records for catching it. Hopefully his shoulder heals up nicely and he can become the WR he was at E.Carolina.
Right now our WR corps looks like this ...
1. Kelvin Benjamin
2. Zay Jones
3. ??? (Deonte Thompson FA) other FA or draft pick
4. Andre Holmes
5. Rod Streater
5. Brandon Reilly
5. Malachi Dupre
A better passer should improve this group.
If the top QB on the Browns board is Josh Allen they almost certainly can get him at #4 and would no doubt take Barkley at #1. Barkley is the best player in this draft and all of the top 5 QB's have a few warts.
Allen - Accuracy
Darnold - Turnover machine in both high school and college
Jackson - Accuracy
Mayfield - Size and over the top cockiness
Rosen - Attitude and concussion issues
Granted the Browns just signed Hyde but he is nowhere close to being the RB that Barkley will be. Duke Johnson had every opportunity to beat out Crowell the last couple of years but never was able to do so. Barkley would be the starter with Hyde as the short yardage/goal line guy and Johnson would be the inexpensive insurance policy.
