  1. That’s my point in them doing it like Beane did and cleaning out cap and getting a low win but not terrible season...just under mediocre. Doing so allows them to say they didn’t tank while also being high up enough in the ‘21 draft to get their next QB. Also important to remember that BB is that team: he makes all decisions in almost every case (Brady is the only one that I’m aware of Kraft intervening).
  2. This is an interesting take. Most here have said BB won’t tank and one could consider that not tanking and yet lead them to their next QB. BB may have his sites set on besting Shula’s total win record.
  3. https://apnews.com/b3b70558d00edfdc4e8c6bd256bcd07f I hope BB never catches him.
  4. Agree completely. From the four or so complete games I watched of his, that was clearly a concern. I also believe he discussed this prior to the year starting. This year, in Tampa, may answer this question...albeit a year older. While I never wish for anyone’s demise, I have to admit I’m tired of him in this league. It’s been long enough.
  5. Seven of the his last nine games were sub 60% passes including a sub 50% performance. http://www.nfl.com/player/tombrady/2504211/gamelogs While he still found a way, it was definitively a down year for him. His stats skew positive from the first half of the year when they were winning 38-7 (with a few outliers in there including another sub 50% performance). His numbers for the year were solid but he definitely wasn’t the TB of old, in my opinion.
  6. Kirby, what still makes me think they may have a chance is who else they’ll pick up between here and the season. BB always seems to find some older guys who still have a year left to plug holes and I suspect this season will be no different. As you have stated in so many places, their current roster is poor but I doubt this is all they’ll carry into the season. Grab a FA QB and a decent mid-level receiver or two (particularly slot) and they could feasibly be close to what they were last year...which was a decent team. I would not at all be surprised to see some of our guys that are cut winding up there. EDIT: I believe their cap situation is poor and not sure how that will impact my argument.
  7. I love Tasker for the time spent with the Bills...and his desire to be a participant still. On OBD, being a relatively regular listener, it can be challenging at times but I can’t ride him too hard for his ‘thinking disorder’. I attribute it to his colossally hard hits...and that makes me appreciate him all the more.
  8. No one has mentioned all of the ‘fear the beard’ shirts will be back in vogue!!!!! ? Love the guy! Great pickup?!
  9. I agree wholeheartedly as I posted elsewhere. I just wasn’t including that here as I assumed it as a given (stupid, I know). The CBA vote says all we need to know about it, just felt the need to include it to head off the opposing argument at the pass. ?
  10. If they all can’t/won’t, then the parity would be removed. Destroys the league. Also, the players have to agree. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for it so long as they can do so safely!!! The fact remains, however, that not every team has the pockets of the Pegula’s, Dallas and NE.
  11. God bless you, Coach!!!!! I remember on my second deployment being gone through Thanksgiving and Christmas (and the first Bills vs Cowboys SB...OK, that was a blessing ?) and thinking how hard it was. By the third or fourth day I accepted it. What do I get from complaining? NOTHING!!! Our mission mattered and the good of the many far surpassed my desire to be home.
  12. Ummmmm...no. If a team in a closed state (NY) can’t get together, then neither can a team in an open state (TX). Parity. Not anywhere close to the same.
  13. FANTASTIC!!!!! Thank you for sharing!!! If the guy/kid starts a go fund me, I’m happy to help! ? CANCER SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. You kind of lost me here, to be honest. The league has to keep things equal and, given that the ‘open’ states will be required to have the same restrictions as the ‘closed’ states (read: NY). Whatever happens, it will be for all. Lastly, of course they want to play all games...it is a business after all. ?
  15. EXACTLY!!!! Ever serve this country? I did and guess what? Your ‘freedoms’ are infringed upon. Ever work for anyone else? Your ‘freedoms’ are infringed upon. Pretty sure they call it, in even mildly educated circles, as being decent and adhering to the hierarchy and societal norms. Neither are an infringement! ? Yup, rubbed the wrong way. Im pretty sure there’s a ‘That’s what she said’ joke there but I’ll leave it at that. ?
  16. I specifically recognized how it’s dangerous...just like the game is when there is no pandemic. My only hope is, as a fan, that they come up with a way to push forward even if it doesn’t include fans. If they can’t, I would certainly understand it. Believe me, I recognize how terrible this is as I’m immunocompromised. If I get it, I’m toast (and a single Dad so that weighs on me every minute of every day). I’m just wishing for some semblance of normality and sports (football and hockey in particular) are a big part of that for me.
  17. Correct, it did happen in Italy. Not sure why this is an argument. No worries if you disagree.
  18. Agreed. So many people are so jaded now and operate from a position of assuming everything is BS. Sad state of affairs.
  19. Oh no!!! I cursed him all through the 70’s but now, of course, recognize his greatness. Rest in piece Coach Shula.
  20. This is what will need to take place. These teams can’t expend a years worth of effort for the draft, not have a normal camp and then lose the players they picked. Weird times call for weird solutions.
  21. Real Time with Bryant Gumbel this week had some epidemiologists on saying sports with fans is the absolute worst thing to do. As an example, they shared what happened at a soccer event in Italy. With fans yelling and screaming, particles can go meters and there’s no way to stop that. They also discussed how the NBA didn’t shut down initially and extrapolated out what happened and it was tens of thousands infected (near 30k if I recall correctly) and 875 dead. Baseball Spring Training was the same in Florida: they tracked cell phones and it increased the spread across the entire east coast and mid-west. Whatever happens, my hope is that the many people who assume it’s all no big deal and won’t effect them (shockingly stupid, again, in my opinion) somehow come to terms that this needs to be taken seriously and that sports push forward without the fans. With that being said, I recognize what the players, coaches, referees, etc are putting on the line...particularly in football...and I thank them as we all need it.
  22. You’re ability to share statistics Indicates you have a grasp of stats in general. Given this, you should also know something of sample size. Josh has started less that two years and yet you’re offering these stats against his counterparts who have been filling the position for ten plus years. Try offering comparisons of second year QB’s...perhaps going back five years or so. If you can’t see the improvement, then ok. Try watching the games. ?
  23. The following HOF tight ends started slowly also: Dave Casper Kellen Winslow Ozzie Newsome Shannon Sharpe There are, of course, others. Add in the fact that Knox was not actively used in college and the upside should be there...assuming he works on catching (which he has directly said he’s doing). I’m holding out hope and, as per usual, lean towards the positive side. ?
  24. https://www.ledger-enquirer.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/guerry-clegg/article242434981.html The author states that a year from now Fromm with be the Bills starter. I’m not buying it. “Don’t be surprised a year from now if he’s the Bills starter because he’s too good to not play. This much is certain. Fromm will say all of the right things because he’s a good teammate. But he’s not going to Buffalo with the intention of being Allen’s backup.”
