Am I the only guy not worried about Tre? ACLs are not a novel injury and he’s now a year and a half out from surgery. My “concern” level is at about 1.2 on a scale of 1-10.

That’s how they negotiated to 53; a number that allows enough backups for depth without draining the talent pool. The issue was addressed in large part by the expanded practice squad. Teams can now “try” to hide players but don’t have exclusive rights. Sort of a win-win in that players have mobility but teams can also develop guys and build some team loyalty.

NFL owners OK flexing of Thursday night games
eball replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall
NFL owners are beholden to one thing only…the almighty dollar. Broadcast partners pay a lot of $$$$. -
Competitive balance. Teams used to “hide” players on the roster who might not be ready to play yet but would be scooped up by another team if given the chance. Same reason there are IR rules.

Have you been talking to my shrink?

I don’t think it’s “scummy” to provide a well-rounded view of someone. There are many, many people in history considered to be “great” who also struggled with their own demons. It’s human nature. We should all understand that humans are complex, multi-faceted beings. It’s ok to recognize all of Jim Brown’s legendary greatness while also acknowledging his struggles. Back on point — my dad always said Brown was the best player he’d ever seen. I greatly respect that he used his fame in an effort to better the lives of others.

Every time someone asks a question like this, there are only two shows that immediately and always jump to the front: Seinfeld and Cheers I could stop what I’m doing and watch any episode of either show. After those two there are a TON of excellent comedies that have come and gone through the years.

Hogwash. McKenzie, while a great character, is also an idiot.

@Rocky Landing I believe you’re overthinking it. 😉

It is an interesting deep-dive into the schedule but in my mind, the only rest discrepancies that "matter" are those of 2 or more days. I mean, MNF has been around forever and even in the playoffs there is often a 1 day difference in rest. In that respect the Jets have a net +3 advantage in "2+" rest games (3 for, 0 against), which is tied for most along with Chicago. Two teams are -3 -- Atlanta and KC. Everyone else is between +2 and -2, and the Bills are a net 0. I don't think it's as big of a deal as Sharp makes it, or some evidence of an NFL conspiracy. If anyone got screwed it is the teams who play two or more games against teams with a week or more of rest, because no team plays more than one of those games on the plus side. The losers there are SF (3), LAR (3), NYG (2), and DET (2).

Josh Allen, Von Miller Golf Channel interview

Did you stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night or something? 🙄 -
No, but the Pats*** do.

I really like Li’l Dirty the guy. Love his openness, his goofiness, and every team needs (IMO) a “character” like that in the locker room. That said…not an NFL starting WR, and not the sharpest tool in the shed. His highest and best use was jet sweeps. Wish him all the best, and glad the Bills moved on.

2023 offense has potential to be best in Bills history
eball replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Brother, I lived through them all (and went to one). I’m not full of recency bias. The 90s teams were amazing and in this era no team is likely to go to four straight again if even the vaunted Pats*** weren’t able to do it. I’m also a realist. The 90s Bills faltered when it mattered most, and they were far from perfect. Josh Allen is better than Jim Kelly. Stephon Diggs is on par with Andre Reed. They have enough weapons, with the best QB in the league (in my homer-centric opinion), to be the best offense in Bills history. That doesn’t mean I’m trashing the “golden age” of the Bills. -
Now I think you’re arguing just to argue. Like I said, if you enjoy watching it, great. It’s not for me, and it’s nothing like watching/following college football. Cheers!

I didn’t even know he did standup. He was hilarious in The Hangover, though…

2023 offense has potential to be best in Bills history
eball replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills’ offenses of the past three seasons (‘20-‘22) rival the 90s Bills; I don’t even know how anyone can say otherwise. No team has more blowout wins over the past three years than Buffalo, and that isn’t just because of the defense. Those 90s Bills, by the way, blew it big time on offense in the biggest games of the season. -
C’mon, Promo…of course you do. We obsess over the Bills. Spring “pro” football has absolutely nothing to do with the Bills unless you’re a professional scout. Edit: and if you enjoy watching it, good for you.

My hot take? Watson is done. The dude has no confidence any more and the scandal will continue to follow him incessantly. Lest we forget, this wasn’t one or two women — it numbered in the TWENTIES (that we know of). He’s a serial abuser. Don’t underestimate the psychological toll all of this has taken on him — the legacy he started in Houston (as a player) is irreparably tarnished. Cleveland deserves every bad thing that happens to them while that crook Haslam is the owner.

I really don’t get the “favor for Von” angle one bit. That’s not how Beane operates. This guy’s agent was likely putting out feelers throughout the league and while Beane may certainly have asked Von about his character and how he is as a teammate, they can watch the film for themselves and it is a completely no-risk, nothing-but-upside signing. Odds of Ray making the roster are likely 100 to 1 or greater, but it’s a guy with a pedigree and I don’t know why anyone would “criticize” the move.
-
I think you guys misunderstand me. I’m simply saying that given a finite amount of free time, watching the XFL or USFL (or CFL) doesn’t move the needle for me one bit. I specifically make time for the NFL and other sports I watch. I’m not being critical of anyone else who watches these leagues.
