  1. Draft on, baby -- we're gonna have NFL football!
  2. I think this makes sense. They need to get the guys ready for September. Sucks for the players who hoped to shine in preseason but this is a sucky year.
  3. For as bad a situation as that was — having a star player trash the organization and coach — it sure seems like the Jets fleeced Seattle. Yes, draft picks aren’t guarantees, but TWO firsts? Gotta give Douglas credit here. That said, the team still rots from the head and Gase is still the wrong man for the job.
  4. Just listened to the McAfee/Hawk segment. I completely agree with McAfee. Gase is not the kind of guy to take this well or constructively; I do not see him being willing to meet with Adams 1-to-1 to discuss the issues. Adams will be out of there because at this point the dumb Jets won’t do what they should, which is fire Gase.
  5. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the three coaches you mention were all guys who were probably at least 25 years older than their players. In today’s NFL there are coaches who are much closer, generation-wise, to their players.
  6. Absolutely, no doubt. I will proffer, however, that this year the return of sport — safely — is more important than ever to the world’s collective psyche.
  7. It’s a very good problem to have, looking at these four young non-starters (Johnson, Joseph, Williams, Dodson) with loads of potential. Whoever doesn’t crack the roster is almost a certain lock for the PS — and this year a team can protect up to four guys each week from being poached.
  8. So which horny 20-something is going to screw it all up?
  9. Absolutely amazing. I will be rooting for this guy more than anyone not on the Buffalo Bills roster.
  10. @ScottLaw always gets on me for my “predictions” but I’m right more often than he is. Many of us immediately declared the Jets’ hire of Gase an idiotic move, but Scott was right there claiming the Jets would be a playoff team. A little more than a year later the Jets look ready to implode behind a questionable owner and a horrible leader at HC.
  11. If I read the article correctly, it seems to me the Bills are effectively “canceling” all season tickets this year but telling current STH that “you’re good” for 2021. My question is what is the setup if there are fans allowed this year? Will current STH have priority for purchase or will it simply be a free-for-all when the limited number of seats go on sale? I see valid arguments for both.
  12. Don’t you mean 365? “I just made a doodie in my pants.”
  13. Did you read the Navarette opinion? The 911 caller in that case described conduct of having been “run off the road” by the subject vehicle, which was conduct deemed specifically relevant to driving while intoxicated. Navarette was stopped under suspicion of DWI, not a traffic infraction. It’s a matter of opinion whether the 911 call in Ed’s case gave reasonable suspicion to suspect Ed of a crime (DWI) vs a traffic infraction (speeding). I think that probably makes a difference in assessing the “totality of the circumstances.” I concede that stops may occur under the right circumstances; I wonder whether this case met such circumstances.
  14. who is struggling? You’re just an argumentative SOB who can’t accept anything other than your own position. If cops are making traffic stops for driving infractions they didn’t witness based upon anonymous 911 calls there is definitely a problem.
  15. so you’re saying cops respond to anonymous 911 calls to make traffic stops if they haven’t witnessed the behavior? I just don’t believe that happens with any sort of regularity.
  16. I don’t believe an anonymous 911 call qualifies as probable cause for a traffic stop. If you can show me it does, please provide that reference.
  17. I’ll go Shaw’s route and say I hope you’re the one in a million who is just naive to the reality of the situation and treat everyone wonderfully. If so, good for you. Sometimes ignorance is truly bliss.
  18. So maybe they can, but to do what? Tell him they heard that someone said he was driving poorly? In what world does that make any sense or is a good use of an officer’s time?
  19. Sometimes the smart thing to do is just shut up and listen. This isn’t about you, and you know what else? Racists cloak themself in Christ all the time.
  20. Ok, once and for all — clearly the cops did not witness Ed speeding, driving erratically, or changing lanes improperly, because if they did Ed would have been charged (ticketed) with speeding or reckless driving. Cops may not charge (ticket) a driver based upon hearsay. We clear?
  21. “I think you know” that traffic tickets are criminal charges.
  22. Stop being an ass; you know exactly what my point is. The post I quoted said the deputy WITNESSED erratic lane changes and trailed Ed at excessive speed, both of which are absolutely sufficient to bring charges.
