  1. Marv Levy: 17-6 vs. Don Shula (regular season and playoffs) Sorry, the Bills fan in me can't resist. Really remarkable given Shula's lifetime record.
  2. I think Bills/Chiefs is almost a guaranteed primetime game. @49ers screams primetime as well.
  3. This guy is gold. Can't wait to watch him play, and it sounds like he'll always be good for a soundbite.
  4. I seem to recall an undercurrent that he had the refs in his pocket, but nothing quite so overt as what BB has done. One of my favorite memories as a Bills fan was how Buffalo ended Shula's coaching career. When BB retires (or dies) I don't think you'll see nearly the level of respect expressed by, in particular, fans of other teams.
  5. That would be a disappointment. I'm predicting 3-4.
  6. It's interesting you bring up Wentz. While he unquestionably has put up better numbers than Josh so far at the same respective point in their careers, I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest he is a bigger risk than Josh right now because of the significant injury history. I agree there is a lot of click-bait out there, but the "Josh Allen is/will be a bust" crowd was VERY vocal.
  7. There are already articles in print claiming by 2021 Jake Fromm will take over the Bills' starting QB role. You're blind/deaf/ignorant if you don't acknowledge there is a significant contingent in the "QB evaluation" world who will only give Allen credit if they are forced to do so. I don't personally care one way or the other. I'm happy with Josh's progress so far and I expect that progression to continue. Wins and playoff runs are all that matter to me. But I don't ignore the chatter out there or pretend it doesn't exist.
  8. True NFL legend. By the time I was old enough to care about football I hated him, but he always exhibited class. RIP.
  9. LOL -- I'm sure some will say the receiver talent is making Josh look good by catching his errant throws, or something like that.
  10. Jesus Christ this kid is still so young. Wow.
  11. The Bills are now loaded at the skill positions. So excited to watch them put it on the field.
  12. And seeing how Allen gave Brown and Beasley close to career years last season, there should be plenty of optimism.
  13. Umm, yeah, it's a joke. Obviously "crash" implies uninvited or hacked. This was a set up. But go on.
  14. 2016 for me. 3/4 through the season I wrote a letter to the Pegulas that I would not be renewing my season tickets (after 27 years) and implored them to fire Rex and remove Brandon from all football operations.
  15. And, you have an issue with them at WR. And, you have an issue with them at OL. And...
  16. OP, I'm not sure you understand the meaning of the word "crash."
  17. None of which I disagree with. The premise was about how he is perceived, in general, nationally.
  18. Ugh. It seems this "BPA vs. Need" argument comes up every year -- the truth is it's not ALL one or the other. Beane says so himself -- if you have two players ranked similarly on your board, you then look to which one better fills a need on the roster (or has a better chance to stick). The problem is when a team reaches for a lesser-ranked player because they have a need at the position (see: NY Giants 2019).
  19. I didn't answer your question about Drew Lock because his situation is not similar to Allen's -- he has literally no NFL resume to speak of while Allen now has 28 games and has shown a modicum of success already. Yes, it is reasonable to say that the success of an NFL team rests largely upon its QB. In the specific case of Josh Allen, more often than not the presumption is that he will not take the next step and he is rarely given the benefit of the doubt that his development and performance will improve. Is that hard to understand? Edit: Case in point: what do experts say about Mayfield/Darnold? They are expecting them to move forward and progress in their third seasons. Absolutely night and day from when they talk about Allen.
  20. The criticism of Josh is over the top. If he plays exactly how he played last season the Bills are a playoff team. Didn't he sustain the highest rate of drops last year? It is VERY fair to say that Josh needs to continue to develop and improve, but (correct me if I'm wrong) there are still far too many "critiques" out there that presume he will flop.
  21. You have a poor memory. None of the QBs mentioned were top 10 draft picks, and all were justifiably critiqued for their play on the field. Most were "propped up" or at least given the benefit of the doubt before reality could not be ignored. Allen, by contrast, has been bashed incessantly since he was drafted -- before he took one step on an NFL field many labeled him a certain bust. Then, despite huge improvements in key areas last season, nearly every write up about the 2020 Bills lists Allen as the biggest question mark and/or reason the Bills won't advance farther. It's like night and day.
  22. Great topic! I’m a “Bills first” guy and will always remain that way, but I love CFB too and agree with some of the sentiment that I’d rather watch a CFB game between teams I don’t know than an NFL game between two bottom feeders. I went to a big school (Carolina) and even though our football program was never “great” the atmosphere was awesome.
  23. There are a few who are overly protective of the Bills but generally speaking I think if any opinion is presented in a reasonable way there is good discussion back and forth. Umm, wrong, and wrong. I react on occasion to posters who consistently take a negative viewpoint even in the face of evidence to the contrary.
