Jaylon Finner joins Bills coaching staff
eball replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall
No, but the Pats*** were just awarded a 4th round compensatory selection. -
I think we actually do know what sort of a person he is, based upon how he was dismissed from the Pegulas’ enterprise. He’s a snake oil salesman and very good at it.
-
I’ll always remember Russ for two things: (1) The f**king Toronto series (2) “Don’t let him leave the building” Gotta give the dude credit, he’s a wheeler-dealer and master manipulator who has carved out a pretty damn good life for himself. That said — eff him.
-
LOL. No, but your post made it sound as though you'd never seen that combo before.
-
That was the standard road uniform of the Super Bowl years.
-
I agree with pretty much all of this...so do you think they are going OL in the 1st round? I still don't...I think it will be addressed in FA, and as I've noted elsewhere in the fact they hired a legitimate OL coach.
-
Agreed, I just don't think that necessarily means 1st round. It means moves like Kromer, tendering Bates, a FA or two, and then finding more prospects later in the draft.
-
They're not drafting OT with Dawkins and the way I'm sure they think Brown and Doyle will develop, and I'm just philosophically opposed to drafting a guard in the 1st round unless he's an absolutely can't-miss prospect. I also think they are fine with Morse coming back at C. They'll draft a lineman or two later on. Yes, Williams would be awesome but there are four or five guys I think could be solid picks at that spot.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I hope the Bills go WR at #25. Here are the positions I think it’s clear they will not draft in the 1st round: QB, RB, TE, OL, LB, S. That leaves DL, CB, and WR. I know a lot of folks are worried about the DL and pass rush but I think they bring Hughes back and we’ve got to give the young guys (Epenesa, Rousseau, Basham) a chance to show they are developing. I think they re-sign Harry and bring in a FA vet at DT. I also have a feeling they wind up re-signing Levi. They will draft at least one CB later on but I don’t see 1st round. Which brings me back to WR in another strong class. Beane has got to continue to give Josh weapons, so draft a guy with first round talent who doesn’t have to “star” immediately but can play ST and be the 4th WR in spread sets. That’s an instant upgrade to an already dangerous offense.

It’s not an “article” as others have noted, it’s a letter to the editor. It’s not “on the front page” of the physical newspaper, it’s in a column labeled “trending now” on the online version. Is it intentional by the News editors to draw readers? Probably. The letter already has 70+ comments, and it’s a schittshow as one might expect. Like it or not, racism (in the NFL and elsewhere) is still a very real issue. It’s very sad that some people are still so threatened by anyone suggesting that the white-privileged world we live in might not be perfect. The premise of the letter — that McD should be fired so the Bills can “end racism” by hiring a black HC — is obviously ludicrous.

I agree with this. Comparing Chark and Metcalf is ludicrous. Metcalf seems like a good dude also, and he’s smart enough to understand what could happen for his wallet if he is matched with Josh for a year. This is perhaps the only “1 year rental” I can think of that makes sense for the Bills.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe he has publicly stated that it starts with him. We really have NO idea what was discussed on the sidelines…just a lot of inferences from fans who weren’t (and have probably never been) there. The execution on the field was poor — we don’t know whether that was the fault of the players, assistant coaches, coordinator, or head coach. We don’t know what lines of communication had been established and which ones didn’t work. Everybody has an opinion, but the Bills are keeping it tight-lipped and not throwing anyone under the bus. If you thought McD would come out and say “I f**ked up” regardless of what happened I think that’s pretty naive. I also think if the team really believed McD screwed up we’d have gotten some sort of inkling in all of the interviews since.

He seems a bit young for the position.

I think people need to understand that there is a difference between the cadre of NFL owners and the brotherhood of coaches. Coaches weren’t going to blackball Flores because they know there is truth to what he’s saying. Tomlin has autonomy and can hire whatever assistants he wants. Said another way: Flores’ problem is going to be whether he is ever hired as a HC again…not whether he coaches.

Bills vs. Chiefs Divisional Round: Full Match Re-play

Your intense distaste for me clouds your ability to read the English language. I said nothing of the sort. You really need to get a grip. -
Bills vs. Chiefs Divisional Round: Full Match Re-play

I have not heard a single person offer that narrative. Not one. The only narrative I’ve heard is that these two teams gave us the greatest final couple of minutes of playoff football ever…and that the Bills squandered a golden opportunity in those final seconds. I re-watched from the start of the Bills 17-play drive through the TD at 0:13…it was incredibly exhilarating and satisfying. I don’t need to watch any more ever again. -
Brandon Beane interview on Eric Wood podcast
eball replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
I dunno, man...every year you beat your chest over another team you wish the Bills were more like. You're typically wrong. The Jets, the Browns... I'm pretty certain at least 25, and perhaps as many 28 or 29, NFL fan bases wish their teams operated more like the Bills. -

Yeah, you didn’t answer my question — you just repeated your desire for splashy moves. Beane understands what he needs to do to keep improving the roster. -
Don’t disagree at all.

While I want a Super Bowl championship as much as anyone, I respect that Beane is not a “this year or bust” kind of GM. I do understand fans like you looking for the splashy move to “get over the top” but the Bills were literally 13 seconds from probably being in the SB this season — after losing arguably their best defensive player. Every draft pick is a risk; I don’t think Beane is gun-shy or afraid of anything. He simply has a different philosophy not everyone agrees with. It’s so easy to sit back as a fan and point out the misses on players or coaches, but compare what Beane and McD have built to the other 31 franchises and tell me which one you’d rather be a fan of (and why)? I can tell you that friends of mine who are fans of other teams now look at my Bills paraphernalia with envy. Without making a single splashy move the Bills are the co-betting favorites to win next year’s Super Bowl. I’ll take that every year. The interview was excellent. -
Here’s what I like about the West hire…he’s not yet another assistant from another NFL team shuffling around, which is what all of these guys seem to do (as evidenced by the tweet in the very first post). Fresh blood, which in and of itself is nice to see.

Dude. He's supposed to exhibit some human expression of concern. Do you really not understand that? Who said he needed to jump down or move her?

Allen is transforming into NEO from the Matrix...he is The One
eball replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hate it when people steal my s**t. I suggested this metaphor on this very board weeks ago. All good, @Big Turk -- but I'm not giving you credit for the idea.
