  1. True - the only notable i saw from the last couple years was Dak Prescott. At the same time if you trade a couple picks from 2019 (say a 2nd and 3rd, or something along those lines) it would benefit the team to add a 3rd and 4th round pick in the comp formula. Cap casualties don't affect the comp formula which is the main benefit. Signing a free agent is almost like trading a player if you need those picks. If you can effectively fill the hole without affecting it, i think they will explore those options. I dunno - sportrac has an annual value on brown of 8.4 million, and 9.3 million for Gaines. Kyle may sign a 1 year deal with a contender, and there's like no reason we sign matthews.
  2. 6th for brown? He's trying to get 8-10 per year.
  3. If we move a bunch of late picks, it helps to have them to re-stock the bench.
  4. I mean the guy led the AFC in rushing in 2015, and made the all-rookie team as a UDFA. There's clearly some talent there. I'm concerned about availability, and increased fumbles over the last 2 years. I'm not concerned about his age, or how much he was paid.
  5. 3.4 a carry on a ton of 3rd and short stuff last year - and their o-line was absolute garbage in 2016, and not particuarly great in 2017. I'm not saying he's fantastic, but Fournette averaged 3.9, and only had 3 games all year where he was above 4. Our defense was very mediocre against the run, and we bottled up their run game pretty handily in the playoffs. I suspect a lot of teams did that the last 2 years.
  6. Cap went up 10 million too, so i assume he'd negotiate for more money.
  7. Woods was 5 years 34m with 15 guaranteed. That's a top end contract for a #2 WR. Sanu was 5 32 with 14 guaranteed the year prior. So the top end #2 value would probably cap out around 36-40 over 5 years. Garcon is that #1/#2 guy and he got 5 years 47.5 and 20 guaranteed from SF. Doug Baldwin got 4 years 46 mil in 2016 with about 24 mil guaranteed. Davante Adams got 4 years 58 million with 30 guaranteed in 2017. If he can avoid injury concerns, and can convince teams to value him as a true #1, i could see him surpassing the Adams deal. Depends on his Agent, and if he's willing to go to a team like the jets, or bears. SF has spent a fair amount on receivers, but I think theyd be better suited beefing up the line and upgrading the RB and defense. If he's willing to take a little less money, i could see him doing really well as sort of a co-#1 in Oakland if they were to cut/trade crabtree.
  8. I think he's got a bit more burst, and his jump cut's pretty legit. Not quite lynch, but reminds me a bit of marion barber.
  9. Trading Dareus was done so that he wouldn't hurt our cap in 2019. His 2018 base salary was guaranteed so we would have had to trade him, as cutting him was a higher cap hit. We did get Milano in the 5th last year, so its not as if there aren't players to be had in that round, but it was really a salary dump to avoid having to split the cap charge into 2019.
  10. We have 8 picks. Assuming we maneuver to get a QB, we might end up having to move down just to get to like 5 or 6 picks. We have pressing needs outside of backup running back. Whos taking the snaps? Whos snapping him the ball? Who's playing RG and RT? Who's starting at both DT spots? What about LBs? I know some of this will be addressed in FA, but we're still going into the draft needing a considerable amount of stuff. If there's a value play with say a 4th or 5th rounder, pull the trigger, but I don't think we need a RB in the 2nd. Yeah - seems like an overpay. They must be really looking for comp picks in 2019... which means they plan to move some of those picks in 2018....
  11. Fournette averaged 3.9...
  12. Jeffery took a 1yr deal with Philly for 9.5 million in 2017. Also had injury problems, but was a big-time red zone target for a young QB. Any team with a young QB and missing a #1 will probably target him. Throw JAX, KC, DET, even maybe dallas if they walk from Dez, or ZONA depending on who they get into the mix. Maybe baltimore. Teams are always looking for speed at receiver.
  13. The draft is like a month and a half after free agency opens.
  14. I don't think anyone will give up that much for him, so either lower the asking price, or take your 2020 comp pick i guess. Yeah, but you lose assets trading for him. Keenum costs you nothing from a draft pick stand point, except maybe a comp pick if you qualify.
  15. Foles only has 1 year left of cost-control, then he gets his huge raise. Foles also won't get traded unless Philly has some sort of contingency plan in place. Wentz might not be ready for camp/preseason so you need to have someone else.
  16. Watt and Donald maybe? But they were already like.. top prospect guys coming out.
  17. Yeah i looked at Barkleys combine and thought... meh? He already looked fantastic on film and was a consensus top RB, and possible top 10/top 5 guy. In his case, the combine could lower his value if he performed poorly, but he was already a fantastic prospect.
  18. I don't think there's a single scout out there who has 3 guys tied at the top of the list. If they love Allen, someone else might love him more and trade up at 3. Then you end up with a guy you don't like as much. It's the most important position on the field... you have to endlessly scout and interview these guys. It's about fit as much as anything else.
  19. I mean... trading 4 and like a 4th for 21, 2 2nd's, and some picks in 2019 would be a pretty solid haul. if you can get 6 picks in the first 100 between 2018 and 2019 that's a lot of players. And they will still get their QB at 1. They are in a good spot for drafting purposes... but when you go 0-16 that means player development, and draft strategy in the last 3-5 years has been incredibly poor. Many of the players picked in that time frame have to be replaced.
  20. He's either tagged, or going somewhere where he'll get his targets. I think he wants to win, but he also wants to be paid #1 money and get #1 targets. SF seems like a good spot. Maybe the Jets if they add Cousins. Dallas if they dump dez.
  21. Kizer completed 53% of his passes and threw 22 ints. But the fact that they lost EVERY game, is an indicator that they aren't a QB away. They need to address that position, but they need to stock up on picks too. New GM who may want to get rid of some of the previous regime's guys as well. Good point. Either way - Position needs an upgrade, and trading back from 4 to get a bunch of players may be in their best interest in adding talent to a team that has won 1 game in 2 years.
  22. Truly sucks for the kid.. From a selfish fan perspective - I think he's off the table in round 1, which is good. Not a big fan of a first round center unless its late in the first. I'm fine with him later in the draft, just not in round 1. Our o-line isn't great by any means.. but the holes at d-line, LB, and QB loom very large at the moment.
  23. Austin for EJ/Kiko - then kiko for Shady. Essentially we traded austin for shady.
  24. Kizer and Kessler are just terrible though, and they won 0 games last year... need oline help, defensive backs, running backs. You don't win 0 games unless u have tons of holes.
  25. Should be interesting to see... Daboll has been handcuffed with some pretty lousy QBs so I think he'll definitely want to get that position right this time. Another running back will likely be on the short list - but i think they want someone who can catch and line up in multiple positions.
