  1. There are a lot of teams that need upgrades at QB - 3 are picking 1-2-3 in the draft so i assume they'll all grab them unless one of the other need teams makes them a big offer. Bears depends what happens with fields but i assume they trade fields and draft. Commanders will draft. Patriots will probably draft as i don't think they see themselves as a team drafting in the top 5 very often. There's the possibility of adding a serious playmaker, but that only works if you bring in a cousins or fields or something. So the biggest need teams - and the likely landing spots for cousins, wilson, mayfield and fields (and to a lesser extent - winston, darnold, minshew) Falcons - Definitely need an upgrade Steelers - Signed wilson Bucs - Re-upped with Baker so they're out Vikings - Without cousins can they make things work with one of the other options? Giants - Jones has an injury guarantee that triggers for next year. I feel like they have to do something here Raiders - Definitely need an upgrade even in O'connell might have done some good things. Broncos - Don't think it matters who the QB is because they're going to be bad Titans - Probably roll with levis but I don't see him being a star I assume one of these teams ends up with McCarthy. I wouldn't be shocked to see one of them jump into that top 3 too. Patriots especially seem like they're that wildcard team that needs a QB, but also know they need a reset and would be content with a bad teams future picks assuming they don't move down too far. They were an OK rushing offense, if they can improve that - then wilson can thrive where he's at his best in play action. If they try to make him a rhythm passer like brees, they will fail.
  2. I think he got a big fat slice of humble pie the last 2 seasons. They aren't expecting him to be a top of the league pro-bowl starter. They're looking instead to run the arthur smith offense, with a QB who i think we can all agree is better than tannehill, mariota, ridder, or heinicke. For so little money they upgraded at QB, and can use cap space to upgrade the offensive line to improve their running game and pass protection.
  3. Then you draft them and cut wilson - or more likely trade pickett.
  4. Douglas Benford Elam. For boundary corners, I'd probably draft one late and sign a priority UDFA - and probably look to use another late pick on a nickel depth piece to replace neal. Any vet i'm bringing in is a camp body most likely unless they perform or there are injuries. There's too many other holes to be spending much in the way of cap space on a depth corner, especially when we've had success drafting contributors late.
  5. They did lose a lot of players. They added some too, and javon hargrave got a big deal. But Jimmy G, McGlinchey, Ebukam, Omenihu, Ward, Moseley and al-shaair all got 5M AAV or more after leaving SF.
  6. It might help to not play on one of the worst surfaces in the league. And our london game was played on just straight garbage.
  7. New coordinator, new secondary coach. His slates not going to get a whole lot blanker. Probably his best shot to make an impact is this year.
  8. Eh there's a fair number of good ones. Plus the older players can hang around at the position a bit longer. In the younger group you have bates, hamilton, winfield, holland, hufunga. In the older group its guys like simmons, mathieu, minkah, budda, derwin, etc.
  9. Well the challenge with WR, is much like QB - the best ones never touch free agency. Tons of good players come from the draft - but there are often misses there too. And once they hit 4 years they want that payday.
  10. I mean... I think he's probably better than either of them. So the mantra can just be - we need to get better.
  11. They tagged him twice... they basically drove the price up on themselves. His pay will be worse than it was. He's now in age 30 season, so we'll see what kinda market there is. People are expecting him to drive the price down, and i wonder if its the opposite and this market drives his price down. Still a great player, i'd poke around to see what money he'd expect. I'd consider him an upgrade over hyde and poyer.
  12. I mean... I'm sure an eye test says something but sub 60% catch percentages every year but this past season. It's part of being a deep threat and contested catch player. Same thing with poor YAC every season. He's targeted further down the field. I also think you are discounting davis a bit. 27 TDs in 4 seasons is nothing to sneeze at. Especially when you consider he was splitting time in some of those years behind Brown and Sanders. Its not 17. Its just the base salary and maybe roster bonuses. Still - 13 and change is a lot. 2025 is not guaranteed at all for what you are acquiring as well, so you could potentially just cut him next year for no cap hit. We would need to convert salary to bonus though to fit him in. Signing and restructure are already paid out dollars spread out by denver. They would eat that in cap space. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/denver-broncos/courtland-sutton-25139/
  13. Weird when you look at 1 - catch percentages - Sutton trended up in 2023 but never cracked 60 before that 2 - TDs - Davis has more TDs in 4 years than Sutton has in 6. 3 - Drops - pretty comparable 4 - YAC - Gabes is better Sutton's also 29 years old and has 2 yr's and 26.5 on his deal.
  14. Absurdly large dead cap charge is going to make it difficult to field a competitive roster this year and next. Jeudy is a free agent next year, sutton (who is just another gabe davis) after next year. I watch him and just see Gabe davis. 2yr 26.5M, i wouldn't give up anything close to a 3rd rounder. Probably something closer to a 7th considering the cap gymnastics needed to fit that under.
  15. They got so much draft capital from being bad too. Lost one for tampering and spent the rest on these fellas.
  16. I'm indifferent - Do i get a better player for the 5M in savings? It's tough to evaluate. He's still good, he wants to win, younger isn't always better. Just depends on the fit and if there is better fits for a different type of defense under babich.
  17. Poyer has a bum elbow now, but he does show up and play. Guy drove 12 hours to a game because he couldn't fly, and played. I think he's better in coverage too. Adams probably sheds better as a box safety, and was always a solid tackler.
  18. Yeah.. he became primary backup center. But he was originally in the mix as a swing tackle and guard - but by the end of the year he was behind edwards and van de mark. Based on the title of the thread - moving bates means its more likely they keep morse and dawkins. I also think this is the draft for acquiring some depth at tackle and G/C with some of the extra draft capital.
  19. That terrible turf in london. I thought we lost taron johnson in that game to a knee injury too.
  20. Everyone in the media acts like Diggs is trying to get out of buffalo, and all i read in his comments is exactly this. I'm here... until I'm not. Why should players be loyal to the franchise that will drop them at a moments notice?
  21. Medicals on your own players are also not really even that cut and dry.
  22. I think its likely the offense will be improved upon. You replace gabe/harty/sherfield offensive snaps with hopefully a vet and a rookie. You have Brady creating his own offensive identity. Cook another year in the NFL. Shakir prepared for a bigger role. Two TE's. Etc. The defense... We are losing a number of players. But we do get milano back - which is absolutely huge. Bernard can improve on a promising first year starting. Secondary wise they have options at CB - and other potential reinforcements in the form of Tre. Will be interested to see how the team ends up looking after FA and draft, but its easy to forget that by the end of the season they were so banged up that a lot of the players that could potentially be downgrades, weren't even playing.
  23. i mean hines knows writing is on the wall... he might not get any guarantees on the open market while buffalo might accomodate for a very low base salary. Considering he's a depth RB and a returner it hits 2 spots.
