I've been thing about our run game and I'm wondering if Singletary is ready to take on a bigger role? Will he hold onto the ball? Will he run with power as well as his trademark shiftiness and quickness? Every down? I've been rewatching Bills games and Singletary to me, looks like the better back; easily. They both block very well. They both fumble but perhaps Singletary moreso? Singletary has had some impressive runs lately.... Either way, imho, the Bills will want to DT, then C/G in the next draft. But if the talent isn't there at those positions and should a RB fall to them, it could be running back next year....

Scouting The Miami Dolphins (Week 8 2021)
billybrew1 replied to Dont Stop Billeiving's topic in The Stadium Wall
I look forward to seeing our defense look ferocious again after we looked like pussycats vs. Tennessee. We have to find that edge again and perhaps this time keep it for good. Miami, Jax And New Jersey coming up I want to see the D shine. On offense, we need improved OL play and a little bit better execution; especially in the redzone. Im glad it's Squish the Fish week and that the Bills seem to readily raise their level of play for Miami. I expect and hope to win big. Get that Titan loss out of mind for now. I still can't Billieve we lost to a team that lost to the jets.... Any given Sunday I guess. We need to be like the old patriot teams and win easy fast then work on facets of our game that need work, train young players and all the things the patriots got to do while easily winning the East all those years. We must improve every week now and get ready for the playoffs without burning out.We have to get that bye week to make it to the Super Bowl imho and then we have to really improve from where we are now to beat the NFC, imho. Tennessee was an eye opener. Sure, it just looked like we were kind of out of it after the emotional KC road win and sure we barely lost but that was a beat up Titan team and we looked weak in a lot of areas. Nose to the grind stone, Bills fans..... Thanks for the long write-up..... Bills gotta win big because it's Miami again, Bills 44 - Fish - 13. Tommy Sweeney with two TDs. Singletary, Davis, Kumerow with one each. On defense, another big game for Tremaine Edmunds Who quietly is having his finest season easily. Go Bills! -
This absolutely happened (I think?) LOL ! What I think the Bills did was not go big when the Titans entered our redzone. At minimum, we probably should have switched Klein in for Taron. Titans scored some easy TDs from within our redzone running. Everyone is focusing on our Red Zone offense but I think our defense deserves to be under the microscope even moreso for the titans game. And let's not forget the Bills are 1-2 versus better teams.....Both units still need to improve and quite a bit so if we are to beat the NFC winning powerhouse. I definitely think we can but we have to improve everywhere still. Everywhere. Go Bills! Yes. This happened. We should have went to a big D in the redzone (I think).

They're like nails on a chalkboard....LOL, I can't stand it, they're ruining football. I mean, how can you do that? They found a way....

Meh..... we got destroyed on a QB sneak. Did we know we can't really execute that play? I don't think so. We somehow turned this game into a battle of six inches and we called a man up play for six inches and we got killed. Dawkins got killed. Feliciano could have had more push. Allen slipped. and we lose the game. Should we have turned it into a play where Allen has choices? IDK?

I finally put the Tennessee game on for a rewatch....It is very difficult to watch..... We forced a punt on Tennessee 's first possession and it flips me out our defense does not force another one all game. Everyone has been talking about our current red-zone short-comings but I wonder what's the winning percentage of a defense that forces only one punt? And why was no one covering AJ Brown? It was kind of crazy. The whole second half....Was our corner burnt that bad over and over? It wasn't as if he just caught it and was tackled. He caught it and kept on rumbling down the field. Over and over. I don't think we can beat Tampa if that's the best our D can do (versus a dangerous offense). We couldn't fluster the QB at all either.... I know Henry got a lot of yards but most came on two carries and there was probably holds on both of them. I think our defense stood tall and faced Henry very well. It was Brown that killed us. Is that the best we can do? The only way to stop Henry is leave Brown uncovered? I sure hope not. Back to the offense and I just watched our offense fail to get the TD. If I had to put our shortcomings on why we didn't score I'd have to say execution. Josh had a lot of time but was running much of it with the ball down..... When did Josh get not good at moving to his left? I thought he played well last season doing that.... I think it was execution, but also you got to give the defense credit for what seemed to be everyone covered up. We had a third and three and couldn't make it.... You know who had a great game? Tremaine Edmunds. Maybe he didn't make big plays but here is a guy who can stand toe to toe with a back like Derrick Henry and win. The reason I think the Bills last is because they couldn't be mentally sharp enough after the KC win. They let down and there was nothing we could do about it.... They had better find their A-game and execute better for the rest of the year. Win or lose, every game is a teaching moment, but maybe losing teaches more. I hope this loss made us a better team and we go and kick Tampa's ass twice in a row..... Go Bills! Rewatch conclusion vs. Tennessee.... Offense scored over thirty, held the ball for nearly 33 minutes I think the defense needed to do more. Two punts and an interception isn't good enough. Zero sacks, zero FFs, very few QB hits (I know I saw one Rousseau.) Taylor Lebanese goes out and we do nothing. ... Milano one solo tackle.....that's it..... LOL, IDK? Maybe 30 isn't enough with all the rule changes? Allen probably got to greedy in the fourth quarter...... (sigh.... : (

I think we have 11 games to go to work on the run besides what everyone else here is suggesting..... We shouldn't abandon the run and we should work hard on it. And I think the Bills can draft OL, we just missed on one guy for whatever reason. I expect a good sound starter to be had in the second round this year.....(if there is one to be had. I feel we want to go DT then OG/C with the top two picks but the draft might not cooperate. Maybe we go C/OG, then DT? Or something like that.... Sometimes a perennial Pro Bowler can be had at pick 30 plus......) Anyway....I think the main answer will be found from improved line play....and that our OL has a lot of potential to improve this year. Everybody is still learning about who they're playing next to, etc. We have to find run calls that our players can win at in their new positions. We need to practice and execute.

One Thing You Still Want To See This Bills Team Prove?
billybrew1 replied to wagne591's topic in The Stadium Wall
Make someone punt? -
We really have to question why the Bills D only forced one turnover and one punt vs. Tennessee. I have to Billieve the Bills coaches and players did not bring their A game vs. Tennessee for whatever reason. The Tennessee game was the outlier, not the other five games. For whatever reason we were flat as hell. While the offense didn't look, "Super" either vs. Tennessee, it did play well. It was the OL that played poorly vs. Tennessee but I Billieve the OL has the potential to play much better over time if we are lucky enough to avoid injuries. So, I think the Bills can play vs. the big bad NFC, we just have to see how the very long NFL season goes for all the good teams. Allen could get used to the new ways defenses are trying to beat us and become much better at defeating them. The OL can get much better (I talked about it in depth yesterday, the whole OL could play better by January, we have that potential.) If both these things occur the Bills will be very difficult to kill for any team. You have to wonder though.....why Bills coaches seemingly decided to not give Tennessee their all? We really looked lame letting Brown catch all those passes wide-open. As far as Derrick Henry goes, he broke open two runs on the day. Not good letting him do that but Bills fans have to happy to have Tremaine Edmunds after that game. He really was the only Bills that handled him repeatedly and he did a great job. Maybe that game exposed us for not enough quality depth at DT? Maybe not good enough ends vs. the run? Maybe we needed a practice run vs. a great running team? IDK? If someone asked me why we lost I'd say Brown killed us. We didn't get any pass rush nor did we cover him well. If we forced more punts Allen would have had more chances and we easily win.

Will lack of Tough Games hurt the Bills?
billybrew1 replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, they are experienced enough to get ready for the playoffs. -
Which realistic trade options should the Bills target?
billybrew1 replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, TE, CB, And OL are the three places I would be very interested to hear what the prices are for various players becoming available. I'm not positive but I think Levi Wallace had an awful game vs. Tennessee. I think we were unfair to Feliciano moving him to the left but on the plus side he still may get much better there with more reps. Not sure how Daryl is doing there. While I think the Bills like Sweeney, getting Josh a full-size target that could block is always interesting. Not sure if I want a receiver only at TE. The reason Dawson plays so much is because he can block and catch. -
Yes.

A few thoughts about the Titans game, in no particular order
billybrew1 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
The object of the game is to enter January red-hot with everything ironed-out. Our offense and offensive line have a long way to go. Our DL needs to better at getting pressure with four faster. We need to be able to raise our desire and want -to to extremely high levels at kick-off without losing our minds. Last night showed we still have a long way to go. So much for worrying we would peak too early. It's going to be hard trying to get better with our schedule. Hopefully, weak teams still get us up to high compete levels and mediocre teams like Carolina and New England bring out the best in us. We no longer are in control of our own destiny but luckily it is still very early. It looks like my early season prediction of 14-3 is going to be about right... How much better can our OL get this year? I say a lot better.... Mongo does have an excuse. It is very difficult switching positions; Especially sides. Now at LG he might be way better at it come December. He might be way better communicating with Dawkins and Morse besides. Daryl Williams is a OT. At least he is on his much preferred side, the right, but he could really, really, improve at guard as the season goes. Dawkins might really improve with the bye. He can get his body tight and his mind and playing next to mongo all straightened out over the bye. Morse can have long talks with his OL now that the bye is here; getting used to Morse on his left and Daryl on his right. If I'm McD, I make absolutely certain Spencer Brown gets a lot of rest over the next few days. We have got to protect vs. the big rookie hitting the wall.... Rested-up, It's weights, weights, weights, film, film film and you watch that he doesn't overload. OL is a spot where the Bills are kind of normal now. Expect a second rounder being spent here next year....or two lower picks? Like a third and a fifth like last year. Maybe we do need to hit on a second rounder if he is there. The other position I am now thinking about is RB though I wonder how we would do with just a better line? It's really screwed up at least it was last night. I imagine most Bills fans would point to the OL as to why we lost last night..... -
Allen vs Mahomes - last 21 starts comparison
billybrew1 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
No doubt about it. Josh is extremely valuable and a top five NFL player. Lets let our future Super Bowl trophies do the talking for us though..... No one gives a *****, what some guy posts.... I can feel it. I can see it. This team is on top and is going to stay there for quite awhile.... Go Bills! -
Something I'll kinda miss, but not really, simulator
billybrew1 replied to Bills fan since 87's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just crush Tennessee, please! The theme for this season after that will be.... yawn, ho-hum until the Bucs.... We can hopefully pad our stats, set records, work with Allen, things like that.... The NFC (and the ravens and chargers) look like trouble. We had better find ways to improve all year... The Ravens are weird. They looked like ***** on both sides of the ball for three quarters last night then came alive and looked scary.... Which team is them? The Chargers look great. Nothing else to say there except I think the Bucs look better. The Bucs, the rams, the cards all look super tough maybe even Dallas.... the playoffs are going to be very tough, especially the Super Bowl. Hopefully, we will be well rested and our offense will be ready by then. -
Josh Allen's sack rate this season - 2.7 percent
billybrew1 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think we have a pretty decent one now and it only going to get better; much better.... -
Are Passer Rating and QBR Obsolete?
billybrew1 replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
Josh really hasn't passed the eye test in a couple games this year. I think his QBR is about right. Josh's Offense has the #1 drive start in the NFL thanks to the defense (and some to McKenzie) .The Defense is making things awfully easy for Josh. When Josh figures everything out, how teams are playing him now and how to beat that, his QBR will rise to the top. Until then, enjoy Josh @ #6 and the D @ #1..... Rejoice! Defense has always won championships and it looks like we have a championship defense this year (so far.) Go Bills! -
Insane Investment Into the Dline Paying Off
billybrew1 replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall
Expect a DT drafted with our first round pick next draft. Pick # 32 - DT.... Then expect a C/G with pick #64 next draft as well. Once you've found your QB, build those lines!!! After the first two picks we can draft some skill for the O and help in the secondary (outside corner). Earlier this year, I was kind of hoping we could sign a FA pass rusher for next season to replace to replace Jerry and Mario and even Star but it is becoming clear that all our money will be spent just keeping this team together and our nine draft picks and UDFAs will be the way we add to the team and replace talent we can't hold on to. -
That's what I'm excitedly waiting to see!!! Imagine this team when Allen figures everything out and starts hitting his receivers like last season! Until then, I think, we need Singletary to step up his game. I know he can do it, I've seen it in his game. He just needs to go for it and Billieve (and not fumble, definitely not fumble.). If Devin cannot step it up this season maybe we can trade back up into round two or three and take another back next year. Moss does not strike me as an every down back (Neither does Devin). Bottom line: we could use improved play at RB this year and next...I think Devin has it in him but so far he only shows flashes and spurts...and both have a tendency to fumble with those short medial forearms... Right now, Zack is clearly outplaying Devin, Devin needs to pick it up or Beane will be hunting for RBs in the second to third rounds. The Bills need to draft a DT and an C/G next season. Maybe with our extra low picks we can trade up and nab an upgrade in the third? It depends on how deep RB is next year. But I don't want a RB in the in the first or second. We need linemen....
-
I initially predicted 14-3 with losses to KC, Tennessee and Tampa, But my new prediction is 19-1. We're going all the way, baby! Go Bills! Yes, I saw Tampa eradicate Miami last week, and yes, the Bucs looked scary.....Tampa has a schedule very similar toBuffalo now, not much competition aside from us.....That could very well be a Super Bowl preview. I don't know which team is tougher but I'm betting on Buffalo anyhow..... Go Bills! 19 - 1 and Super Bowl Champs. The Bills OL will coalesce and become one of the better OLs in the NFL. Allen will progress and figure out how to beat more defenses. Josh's powerful arm will be the obvious difference between the two teams as Josh makes play after play and our highly skilled corners step in front of a couple lame ducks from Brady....Announcers sadly hope TB retires soon and stops embarrassing himself.... Go Bills!
