Patriots' Hernandez arrested in homicide investigation
ganesh replied to Golden Wheels's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
According to this SI article, he does have a checkered past. "Hernandez fell to the fourth round of the 2010 draft in part because of marijuana use while with the Gators, something he admitted to NFL teams at the scouting combine when he was a draft prospect, according to several NFL sources. Personnel sources from multiple NFL teams tell SI that they had off-field concerns about Hernandez. In particular, the questions pertained to alleged gang activity of some of Hernandez's associates in his native Bristol, Conn. A law enforcement official familiar with Hernandez reiterated concerns about his circle of influence. Combined, the marijuana use and gang concerns worried some NFL teams immensely." The Sporting News preview with Jay Skurski

However, 2013 is not the same as 1987. Fans and Front Offices are not patient to give a group of players/coaches a long run. As the Colts, Redskins and Seahawks showed in 2012 you will have to start winning right away when new programs are bootstrapped. There is no more hand-holding in the NFL. -
Yahoo & Rotoworld discuss Bills rookie class
ganesh replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Bills get one shot at luck (and not Andrew Luck) then they should pray that the one they picked at the most important position turns into gold!. The one thing that might be going for the Bills is that there is no established WR on this team besides Johnson. It gives the coaching staff full power to try out every one of these rookie wideouts to find out which one will emerge. -
Eric Moulds was on Sirius radio today.
ganesh replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually not. Firstly, the Bills spread the ball around quite a bit and that is indicative of that Andre Reed never caught more than 80 balls a season. Secondly, in that era, it was a big achievement to get over 100 catches. I don't believe Moulds would have increased his Catch/TD total. In fact, he was the beneficiary of being in some lousy teams. QBs like Flutie, Johnson and Bledsoe did throw to him consistently. The only underachieving year would hvae been the Todd Collins season and Alex Van Pelt Season -
Is Jeff Tuel the reason for T. Tax departure?
ganesh replied to Cheddar's Dad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not if you are the Buffalo Bills of the past....They had no interest in getting that potential QB and grooming him. They would rather have a 4th string RB or Safety on the team than that QB. All the OTAs and Mini-camp have been without any Pads. The game could be different when the Pads go on and there is a Pass Rush to account for. The QB decision will come at the end of the training camp. -
Bills' Top FIve Players are.......

Eric Wood is a top 5 player on this team, probably ahead of Dareus. And finally it is good to see a PUNTER not in the top five. -

Criticism of Pettine from Jets Nation?
ganesh replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe some of the players like Nick Barnett and George Wilson free-lanced too often, meaning ignored what the Coaching staff had for them. -
Stephon Gilmore has "made a leap"....

I believe the labor deal has a clause that does not allow rookies to renegotiate their contract before the end of their contract year. That is why both Seattle and the 49ers will pay peanuts for their starting QB for the next couple of seasons. -

Criticism of Pettine from Jets Nation?
ganesh replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't care about all this blitzing stuff....What I want Pettine to do is fix that damn LEAKY Run Defense that has been in the worst five in the last so many seasons...If Pettine cannot get the big guys to stop the ball carrier, it won't matter. We lost games last year because we gave big yards and 1st downs to opposing RBs when they needed it. -
Is Jeff Tuel the reason for T. Tax departure?
ganesh replied to Cheddar's Dad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitz was uncoachable and had reached his limit. His % of inconsistency was not going to change. EJ is just beginning his career and has good scope for improvement under the right guidance. Fitz was done, EJ has the potential to become a consistent thrower. That is the difference. -
It would be important to know how much of those yards came in garbage time, when Fitz was padding up his stats! +1. When Wood went out of the line up, Fitz faced lots of pressure from the middle of the line....Wood is a game changer like Hull.

My only comment to your fair assessment is that a majority of the players coming to NFL or NBA are not those that are playing the weekend leisure games over your neighborhood ballpark (with the parents and aunts and uncles). The incoming players are predominantly from the inner-cities and/or labor/plantation-towns. The NFL or NBA is their lifeline. These are not the kids hanging around with their xbox and ipods. -

I think Legursky will be the starting LG on Day one of the season. Don't be surprised if Aaron Williams returns back to CB. Dickerson may be the H-Back instead of a true Full back. That allows them to retain the three TEs. -

May be he did not want the Bills to pick him up. Unfortunately he did not have much control like a Eli Manning. -

Is Jeff Tuel the reason for T. Tax departure?
ganesh replied to Cheddar's Dad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think the Bills fans ever fell in love with TJ....It is one of the most bizarre moves made by Chan and Nix, especially that allowed them to keep Tyler Thigpen as the backup. They simply made a complicated decision in which TJ actually will not throw a single pass in the regular season in a Bills Unfiorm. Disagree. May be Tuel showed enough to this coaching staff during OTA/Mini-camp that they felt comfortable being the 3rd string QB. May be they feel Tuel can play the game if the other two get injured. -
I don't think Kraft deserves credit for picking a HOF QB in the 6th Round. However, it is what he has done in the decade since winning the lottery that deserves the credit. He has astutely managed the Salary cap, including not being pushed to make Brady the highest paid QB in the league. Along with Belichek they have made decisions (some of them cold) that are best for the team. The Patriots are the hottest ticket in town and for that Kraft deserves praise for having turned that franchise around.

A majority of the NFL players play the game because that is their lifeline. If there is no NFL they are stuck in the back-streets of cities neighborhoods doing illegal stuff and even get killed. I just simply don't see the NFL going away as long as it is an avenue for a lfie-changing event for these players. And may be even once win the big one! -
"Mind-Blowing Stats for The Buffalo Bills" NFL.com
ganesh replied to Nanker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because that defense couldn't close out games. Also, Bledsoe's game tapered off after the 1st half of the season and was pedestrian in the 2nd half. Special teams was pretty horrible, giving up 2 TDs in the season opener. Also, if you notice, this is the only time, the Bills came close in W/L record with rest of the AFC East...3 teams finished 9-7 with the Jets winning the division and the Bills finished 8-8 and in last place!!! -

Actually Jason Peters whiffed on that play and allowed the Jets Pass Rusher to get around him. Of course, Losman did not feel the pressure and also did not protect the ball. One of the *WORST* plays in Bills history.
