  1. Coincidentally, found this quote in John Claytons mail bag this week. Head coaches coming from college have an advantage dealing with the new limits on offseason preparation for their teams. The new offseason program must be wrapped up in nine weeks. Coaches have only 10 organized team activity days, a three-day rookie minicamp and a three-day mandatory veteran minicamp. Plus, any new coach hired after the previous season is allowed to have a voluntary minicamp. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9334985/nfl-mailbag-ex-college-coaches-edge-shortened-offseason
  2. Why is Mr. Prisco trying to prove himself. Let it go. In this years draft, all QBs had their strength and weakness and different teams rated them differently according to their needs/schemes etc. So what 4 GMs had him rated in the 4th round. I am sure there were 4 other GMs from the remaining 28 teams, who had rated him as a 1st round prospect and 4 other teams would have rated him as a 2nd round prospect and four or more teams may have rated him as a 3rd round prospect. For the Bills sake, I hope they were right about EJ and they have a QB here for the next decade.
  3. May be this is a way to put pressure on Parker to come to the table and agree to a contract that is mutually acceptable to both parties. The Bills could do with Byrds play and leadership and Byrd should be happy to get a good chunk of money that he is worth. Comparing him to Polamalu or Reed doesn't do any good. Byrd's contract has to be based on what Byrd has done ON and OFF the field.
  4. Now we just need our own Eli Manning....Hoping EJ turns into a QB like Eli.
  5. No. He can sit until game 10 and then suit up so that he does become an UFA next year. Of course the Bills can tag him again. The idea behind such a hold out would be as to why the Bills would pay 5M and 8M to a player who will play only a portion of the games.
  6. Or the Vets themselves are dysnfunctional and have not pulled up players like Stevie to not act stupid or selfish.
  7. Wood is the anchor of this OL and will be locked up before end of this season. Spiller is (and will be) the heart and soul of this team for the next few years. He is the most talented player on this team. It would be really silly for the Bills to trade him or lose him to FA without any good compensation.
  8. Do remember that the Rookies had a full week of OTA to themselves earlier. May be Marrone wants to be fair and give Kolb and TJ a shot.
  9. Marronne comes from the Parcells tree and you are not going to get much useful stuff from him or his coaching staff.
  10. Are rookie HCs allowed to start TC earlier ? There is some rule about HCs having additional practices, but can't remember whether it was OTA, mini-camp or training camp.
  11. +1. And it probably also sent out an IMPLICIT message to Stevie. His post-TD antics will not be tolerated, especially if it ends up disrespecting the opponent.
  12. Jill is simply one amazing women for what she has gone through in her life.
  13. That is what they said about the Colts. However, if the ball bounces your way a little, you can end up with 11 wins. The key is having a QB whom the team believes.
  14. You have the team improving on Defense and QB play and yet have them at the same tally as last season. Just doesn't add up. You can never predict on the next years schedule based on current standings as teams change dramatically. Last year we played 6 games in the AFC East, we will be playing the same 6 games in 2013. We went 2-4 last season with wins against Jets and Dolphins. We are more likely to go 3-3 with split with every one or possibly winning both games against the Jets and losing both to the Pats. 2012 - Wins were against KC, Cleveland, Arizona, Jax and lost close games to Titans, Colts and Rams. 2013 - We have winnable games against Carolina, Cleveland, Bengals, KC, TBay, JAX If they really improve their run defense and QB play, I could see them winning 8-9 games instead of 6 from last year and that would be progress as a result of the improvement in talent and execution.
  15. DT. I think Kyle Williams will be done this year. Pettine would need a big tackle to anchor his line.
  16. Eli Manning is an average QB who raises his game in the playoffs and has 2 SB to boot. Of course, everyone annoits Eli as a Franchise QB and a Top 5 QB in the league. I don't see any difference between Eli and Flaccoo. Both are extremely good game managers who have that extra gear for the playoffs. Any QB who is surrounded with great players will win the big games. In fact, one has to criticize Brady for not winning those two super bowls for the talent he had and the talent he faced (Those Giant teams were an average-mill-of-the-run teams. In fact, that same Giant team was almost ready to lose to the Bills on a cold and rainy day at Orchard park, but the Bills blew a big lead and committed mistakes in the 2nd half when Eli threw for 30 yards but won the game.).
  17. To be fair, those Bills teams also went against some of the "most stacked" NFC teams too. The two Cowboys teams and the Redskin team had equal or far more super stars than those Bills teams. The Bills teams had very average DBs, OL and DL talent. If Ted Washington could have made it to those SB teams, the Bills win one of those games. The closest would be Joe Gibbs, considering that he won 3 SBs with three different QBs. His stamp was in building great OL.
  18. I don't know if they really messed up. May be the Ravens are happy that it is a 3-year deal with Flacco and that they are not going to be stuck with him if he has 3 average seasons. Time will tell. Also, the Agent could be trumpeting this out just to promote himself to his potential future clients. And by being proactive too, it can come back to bite the team badly....Sad exhibits are Dick Jauron and Ryan Fitzpatrick!!! Flacco had a dream post-season....Just give credit to where it is due.
  19. The 1-15 turnaround also included Belichek as the DC. In Dallas, Parcells had the luxury of another great DC in Wade Phillips. Finally, his stint in Miami showed that he was indeed missing those key parts. Having said that, I would like to state that, NFL is the ultimate team sport and it requires all of them (53 players and the many Coaches) and excellent players at skill positions to put out a winning program. I don't think any one is rewriting history. Parcells was another good HC in the NFL.
  20. That is insulting. I don't think anyone, especially at Pro-Football level go out with the intention of being happy with a 8-8 record. I am sure all those 6-10 and 7-9 teams worked their butt off, but came short due to lack of talent at key positions and being out-coached by the other team. It doesn't mean that the team is happy making it to 8-8. +1. Is Moorman revealing his anger/upset at the Bills for cutting him during the middle of last year?
  21. Actually it was not just the fans. Even the big media hypes like John Clayton was boasting that the Bills will have one of the best front four and that things are looking good for the Bills this time around.
  22. Moorman has been signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to compete with incumbent Butler. Here is a snippet from his comment to Post Gazette. Moorman, on the other hand, just seems to be thrilled to be on a team whose standard of what constitutes a good season is higher than most: It’s one of the big reasons I chose the Steelers,” Moorman said. “I have a deep belief that last year was definitely an anomaly with this organization. I’ve come from a team and played a long time when we weren’t too terribly upset with 8-8. I promise you that they are here.
  23. PTR, are you suggesting that the Bills front office listens to Fans whining ?
