Actually with the patriots offseason the way it is, this is a good year for some open competition for the AFC East crown. It is of course debatable if the Bills have the necessary talent and coaching to be part of that mix. The dolphins definitely are a more complete team and will challenge the Patriots for the East division. However, if the Bills have a few things fall their way, they could be in the thick of the race.

Should Bills pick up Jahvid Best?
ganesh replied to KeisterHollow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Best played better than Spiller in their rookie seasons. Of course, Chan never gave Spiller a chance. Best has been beset with multiple concussions and his career could be over. -
Byrds INT count is padded...

Also with the Bills sucking big time with 4th place finishes consistently, they get to play a lot of 4th place finish teams, who obviously would have stinking QBs too. The only elite QB they play every year is Tom Brady and interestingly, the Patriots kill the bIlls by RUNNING the football. Besides Brady, usually you will see 2-3 other elite/good QBs coming from the other division or conference. -
I hope Dustin Hopkins wins the kicking job

Also, our Kick Return game was pretty average to pathetic and that falls a lot on the kicker....Again, if the Bills use analytics, I think Hopkins will make it as the margin may not be very different. -
Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp

Remember, if Lindell is let go and replaced by a rookie kicker, we will still save more money on the cap. Another casualty could be Brad Smith. If the Bills are truly using analytics and do find that the difference between a Veteran and a Rookie or a FA is not that big, they are going to trim that money of the roster. Additionally, the salary cap will increase in the next few years again. I think the Bills priority should still be to lock up Byrd, Wood and Spiller for the long run. -
The common theme between Williams, Mularkey, Jauron and Gailey is that they did not have a QB. Time will tell if Marrone hit it with E.J. Manuel and to the playoffs. The one year Mularkey had Bledsoe as the QB, we were 9-7 and knocking on the doors of the playoffs.

Patriots' Hernandez arrested in homicide investigation

Fair enough. However the thread had migrated off (or others attacking my comment) to AH being guilty with all these facts... -
Patriots' Hernandez arrested in homicide investigation
ganesh replied to Golden Wheels's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All the stuff quoted above have no indication that it was Hernandez who killed Lloyd...Just saying. Please tell me which one of the item from your list indicates that Hernandez committed a crime...Renting a car in which four people (including the victim) traveled, cell phone records (I don't think Hernandez has denied that he was with Lloyd), surveillance video (coincidence). I am pretty sure Hernandez had a role (if not commited the murder), but none of what you list will prove anything in the court of law. -
Not to rewrite history, when Fletcher was playing for the Bills, he was criticized as too small and too late to get to the Ball carrier and was often seen tackling the runner 10 yards from the LOS. The only positive from Fletcher was that he never missed a game and he racked up many tackles. And then when he went to Washington, the same trend continued. Is Fletcher a play maker or a game changer like a Ray Lewis....Not even close.

Patriots' Hernandez arrested in homicide investigation

I think they did a good job of hiding the evidence and cleaning it up. Before the Police found the "safehouse" they had nothing on him. -

+1. This is the most likely scenario. Similar to what Mike Wallace did last year with the Steelers. -
How long does Pettine stay with us?

Wanny bolted (Rather kicked) to the Buc's as their Special Teams Coach !! :w00t: And don't forget the new Browns DC (former DC of the Cardinals). He was the top of the list of HC searches this year, including the Bills. (Ray Horton?) -

Technicalities! Technicalities!....I suppose what the rookies receive is really a partial playbook until they sign their contract. -
Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp
ganesh replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because he is yet to sign the tag, meaning, he is not under contract with the Buffalo Bills. -
No love for Poz ?

But his Washington Redskins have been no better than the Bills until they acquired RGIII. My point is: Would he have made a difference to the fortunes of the team in the last seven years...No.

Completely agree.. At this point Wood is the best player on that OL...Even better than the "Above Average" Cordy Glenn.

Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp
ganesh replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Byrd will sign the 1-year tender if they cannot come to a long-term contract agreement. And if he does sign the 1-year tender, they will simply negotiate that the Bills will not tag him again next year. There is precedence for this before in the NFL. -
Which simply means that neither is a long term solution for the Bills at the QB position.

The 50M dollar deals didn't have anything to do due-diligence!! The Bengals were a horrible team in the 90s and early 2000s and often picked in the Top 5/10 and hence were forced to pay them big money due to lack of a Rookie Salary cap. -

Did you get a chance to read that article about Parker. Parker is no scumbag. He just represents his clients honestly but firmly. I doubt Jarius is going to be dumping Parker. -
Yup. Charlie Batch signed up with the Steelers as a backup at the starting of the 2002 season (prior to them even drafting Rothelisberger) and since then has played in about roughly 13 games (and started about 6 of them). 10 Seasons and roughly a game a season. (He was on Injured Reserve in 2004 and 2008). And I believe he did not take any snap in 2007 and 2011 seasons even though he was dressed as a 2nd or 3rd QB on the team. Even if it was Veteran minimum, he has probably made close to 11M in those 10 years. Having said all that, Batch is one of the great Hometown heros of Pittsburgh. He has spent quite a chunk of that change back in his community of Homestead in Pittsburgh. Great guy, if you get a chance to meet him. Of course, one of the interesting aspects of Batch's life is that he filed for Bankruptcy Protection (Chapter 7) in 2011, citing heavy losses in failed businesses. (http://pittsburgh.sb...atch-bankruptcy). Apparently, he was in about 8.3M in Debts. And in June 2011, the courts gave him a real deal wherein they forgave him for all his debts and he walked free (http://profootballta...-in-bankruptcy/). Apr 16 2012 Signed a 1 year $990k contract with Pittsburgh (PIT) Mar 26 2010 Signed a 2 year $1.72 million contract with Pittsburgh (PIT) Apr 19 2009 Signed a 1 year $795k contract with Pittsburgh (PIT) Mar 14 2006 Signed a 3 year $4.22 million contract with Pittsburgh (PIT) Apr 26 2005 Signed a 1 year $565k contract with Pittsburgh (PIT) Mar 14 2003 Signed a 2 year $1.8 million contract with Pittsburgh (PIT) Jun 17 2002 Signed a 1 year $525k contract with Pittsburgh (PIT) He also received a $13M signing bonus when he was drafted by the Detroit Lions.

Like Charlie Batch with the Pittsburgh Steelers ! It appears he made roughly 4M with the Vikings, and possibly another 4M with the Seahawks before getting shipped to the Bills and made the remaining 4M with the Bills as part of the trade....He made another 500K as signing bonus this year. His contract with the Seahawks this year is 840K and will be guaranteed if he is on their roster on Season opening day.....That roughly put his career earnings @ 13.3M. Of course, I am sure he has earned other money through endorsements for advertisers around the Minnesota and Seattle areas. TRANSACTIONS Jun 14 2013 Signed a 1 year $840k contract with Seattle (SEA) Jun 10 2013 Released by Buffalo (BUF) Feb 15 2013 Signed a 1 year $1.75 million contract with Buffalo (BUF) Jul 29 2011 Signed a 2 year $8 million contract with Seattle (SEA) Apr 19 2010 Signed a 1 year $1.176 million contract with Minnesota (MIN) Jul 26 2006 Signed a 4 year $2.665 million contract with Minnesota (MIN) Apr 29 2006 Drafted by Minnesota (MIN): Round 2 (#64 overall)

Did not see this posted earlier. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000212193/article/tarvaris-jackson-seattle-seahawks-sign-contract The Bills got zero out of the deal other than paying ~3M to TJ to not dress up for 16 games.
